Audi driver crashed into cars that stopped to let ambulance through
Ashley Bevans, 31, of Priory Road in Milford Haven, was charged with driving without due care and attention following the incident on the A4076 between Johnston and Steynton on November 16.
The court heard that an ambulance was responding to an emergency call and was driving from Milford Haven towards Johnston.
A Peugeot travelling in the same direction pulled to the side of the road to allow the ambulance to pass, whilst two vehicles coming in the opposite direction did the same – just after going over the brow of a hill.
As the vehicles manoeuvred to make enough space for the ambulance to pass, Bevans' Audi A3 came over the brow of the hill in the opposite direction to the ambulance and was unable to stop in time – crashing into the back of the second car in the queue.
Bevans' car then veered onto the opposite side of the road and hit the front of the Peugeot.
The court heard that the driver of the Peugeot sustained soft tissue and muscle injuries, whilst the driver of the other car suffered whiplash injuries.
Bevans was also injured in the crash.
He pleaded guilty to careless driving, and had eight points added to his licence at Llanelli Magistrates' Court on April 23.
Bevans must also pay a £250 fine, a £350 surcharge, and £110 in costs.

Man slammed by judge for extending Spain holiday and missing community service
A BANNED north Cumbria driver extended a Spanish holiday instead of returning to the UK for a community service session. During his latest court appearance, John Luke Fitzgerald was lambasted by a judge for 'swanning off' to Salou at a time when he also owed £3,000 in court payments. Fitzgerald, now aged 37, was originally sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court in August, 2023, for dangerous driving. He had followed and rammed his on-off partner's vehicle with his, leaving her terrified. For that offence, and breaching a previously imposed suspended prison sentence, he received a jail term totalling 12 months. Fitzgerald was also ordered to complete a two-year driving disqualification when released from custody, and warned he remained banned until he passed an extended test. But Fitzgerald was back at court in May this year after police saw him driving an Audi along Carlisle's Brampton Road on February 6. The mechanic drove while disqualified having opted to get in a car 'impulsively' — when told he was needed at his place of work — instead of cycling as usual. His punishment for that offence was a 12-month community order and requirements which included the completion of 80 hours' unpaid work. However, Fitzgerald was back at court yet again today (Monday) as part of a prosecution brought by the probation service. He admitted failing to attend two unpaid work sessions, on July 6 and 13, and failing to provide timely evidence to reasonably excuse those absences. From the dock, Fitzgerald explained that on the first occasion he attended for unpaid work late, after a bicycle chain snapped. On the second date, he failed to show after extending a four-day holiday in Salou. 'It wasn't long enough,' he said of the original planned duration. But that cut little ice with deputy district judge Andrew Garthwaite. The judge told Fitzgerald, of Walton, near Brampton, he had sympathy with his bike mishap. 'What I can't sympathise with is that you went to Salou and got behind with your fine payments,' said the judge, who accused Fitzgerald of 'swanning off' while owing £3,000. 'When you appear before a court it is not some form of nice negotiation: you ask for a few things and hope you get them. I've got the power here, not you. 'I'm not happy you've gone off on your holidays and not done something you are supposed to do by order of the court. If you don't complete it you can go to prison.' 'You need to get your life in order. You need to get yourself sorted out. I'm not happy — not happy in the slightest,' added the judge. 'There are plenty of people in worse positions than you who pay their fines and don't spend money on themselves. You've got to make sure you get your priorities in place.' Fitzgerald was given 20 extra hours' unpaid work as punishment, and must pay costs. 'Don't come back here,' the judge warned him.

Two arrested amid hunt for Tennessee suspect accused of killing four

Photo courtesy of Tennessee Bureau of Investigation/ Facebook Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Two people were arrested over the weekend with helping a suspect accused of quadruple murder, according to authorities who on Sunday said they have increased the reward for information leading to the arrest and location of Austin Robert Drummond. Drummond, 28, is accused of killing a family of four in northwestern Tennessee last week, and has been on the run since. The U.S. Marshals Service on Sunday announced a reward of $10,000 for information that leads to his arrest for a total of $17,500 when combined with the money being offered by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. "It's past time -- let's get Drummond into custody," the Dyer County Sheriff's Office said in a statement in response to the announcement. "See something, say something. We can't get distracted -- stay focused on the singular mission of finding Austin Drummond. Keep his name and face all over social media." Drummond has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder, four counts of a felon in possession of a firearm and one count each of aggravated kidnapping and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony in connection with the deaths of James M. Wilson, 21, Adrianna Williams, 20, Cortney Rose, 38, and Braydon Williams, 15. Rose is the mother of Adrianna and Braydon. Wilson is Adrianna's boyfriend. Their bodies were found Tuesday along Carrington Road in Tiptonville, located along the northwestern Tennessee border with both Missouri and Kentucky. That same afternoon, the infant child of Wilson and Adrianna was found in a car seat that had been dropped off by a dark-colored minivan or a white mid-sized SUV "at a random individual's front yard," the Dyer County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. Authorities have said the baby is safe and is being cared for. On Saturday, authorities arrested Giovonte Thomas, 29, on charges of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. On Friday, Tanaka Brown, 29, was charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and an additional charge of tampering with evidence was later filed. Authorities said they have discovered the white Audi that Drummond was last seen in. It was located in Jackson, Tenn. Nearby residents were instructed to lock their doors and stay alert. TBI Director David Rausch said they believe that Drummond is in the Jackson area. Drummond has a criminal history and should be considered armed and dangerous. Authorities said the latest crime occurred while he was out on bond for attempted murder in connection with an alleged incident that occurred in prison where he was serving time for attempted robbery. Authorities have said that this quadruple murder is not a random act. "This incident has this community on edge," the TBI said in a statement online. "I can assure that state, local and federal agencies have been working around the clock to determine all of the facts of the case and to bring the identified individual, Austin Robert Drummond, in to determine what he may know."

Tragedy on Stratford Road as driver, 22, dies in late night crash in Sparkbrook
A man has died after a multi-vehicle crash on one of Birmingham's busiest roads, police have now confirmed. The 22-year-old driver sustained fatal injuries after his Vauxhall was involved in a collision with a black Audi and a parked vehicle. The tragedy took place on Stratford Road, near the junction of Ladypool Road, Sparkbrook shortly before midnight on Friday night, August 1. Police have since launched an appeal for information, urging any witnesses to come forward. A statement from West Midlands Police read: "A man has died after a collision involving three vehicles on Stratford Road, Birmingham last night (1 Aug). "We were called just before 11.50pm to the junction of Stratford Road and Ladypool Road to a collision involving a black Audi, blue Vauxhall and a parked vehicle. "Sadly, the driver of the Vauxhall, a 22-year-old man, died after being taken to hospital. His family are being supported by specialist trained officers. "Three other people were also taken to hospital with injuries. "Anyone with any information is asked to contact us by calling 101 quoting log 5875 of 1 August."
