My favorite product releases this week: Anker, Pokémon, Satechi and more

CNN18-07-2025
Amazon Prime Day has come to a close and the dust has settled on our round-the-clock coverage. After taking some time to recharge, I am back to spend Friday morning like I always do; checking in on all of this week's most exciting product launches.
This week brings the launch of Anker's latest desktop charging station, a new expansion to the Pokémon trading card game and a versatile smartphone lanyard from Satechi.
Seven ways to refuel your desktop
Anker has released a new charging station this week, and it includes one of my favorite features on any piece of tech that has come out this year. I've been singing the praises of this Anker Laptop Power Bank since it launched back at CES 2025 and have been using it every single day since it arrived. Aside from its massive battery and fast-charging features, the thing I love the most is its retractable USB-C cable, which is now being brought over to a stationary desktop charger.
The new Anker Nano Charging Station features a 7-in-1 design that offers seven ways to refuel smartphones, earbuds and tablets, as well as power your desktop computer and other accessories. There are three full AC outlets on the back, and then two built-in retractable cables on either side for quickly accessing 2.3 feet of Anker's InstaCord charging tech. To fully take advantage of its 100W charging specs, there's also standard USB-C and USB-C ports on the side to round out the power capabilities.
I'll be testing this one out for myself in the near future. But if the impressive specs are already enough to convince you it's worth a spot on your desk, Amazon has the Nano Charging Station available for $90.
The newest expansion to the trading card game is here

The next batch of new Pokémon trading cards are out this week with another departure from the usual expansion sets. Black Bolt and White Flare live up to their namesakes and come filled with the full roster of characters from the franchise's fifth generation games, Black and White. I've never been the biggest fan of these Pokémon's time in the fictional Unova region, but the cards this time around have such cool artwork that I am actually starting to see the appeal. There's more than a few cards I'll be aiming to add to my collection, some of which I already opened for myself.
Chasing after certain cards is all well and good, but it seems like you'll actually be able to buy them this time. Supply for this new expansion seems to be higher than normal, and the pull rates for cards is definitely improved over the last set I opened. Packs are beginning to trickle out today, with Amazon listings starting at under $40.
Everyone is thinking Miku these days

If you don't know who Hatsune Miku is, ask your kids — they'll know. If you don't have kids around the house, she is a digital pop star who has been serenading listeners with her unique techno tunes for nearly 20 years. The virtual idol has been popping up in more and more places lately, jumping from topping music charts to dominating video game lobbies in hit titles like Fortnite. Miku is no stranger to gaming, after all, with consistent stints across rhythm games for over a decade. But now Asus is channeling her signature turquoise color scheme for a lineup of PC gaming accessories.
The new lineup includes just about everything you need to outfit a battlestation, including a keyboard, mouse, headset and other accessories. I've been putting them to the test this past week. The combo of TUF Gaming K3 Gen II Keyboard and Mini Gaming Mouse hasn't done much to overcome my lackluster performance in Fortnite, but at least now I am doing it in style. I love the execution from Asus, especially on the keyboard with its custom key caps.
The Asus Hatsune Miku collection is now available for purchase at retailers like Amazon and starts from $25.
This crossbody lanyard is also a charging cable
I am a sucker for a novel charging cable, especially one I can always have on me. Nomad's key-bound cable hasn't left my keychain since I started using it earlier in the year, but I've found myself wishing I had a longer cord on me at all times. Enter the newest release from Satechi, which is here to solve my problem.
I first covered Satechi's OnTheGo series back when it was revealed at CES 2025. After shipping the products from that first wave of reveals, the brand is back with some entirely new charging accessories — my favorite of which is this new USB-C Lanyard Cable. These smartphone lanyards have been gaining popularity as an alternative to storing your iPhone in your pants pockets, offering the same kind of access that a camera strap provides. This Crossbody Lanyard from Satechi brings extra functionality into the mix by doubling as a charging cable.
I've been trying it out and am wowed by how good the build quality is. Throw in the 60W charging tech and 480Mbps transfer speeds and this is as versatile of a cable as it gets. The $30 price tag is more than justified if you find yourself in search of smartphone lanyard.
Kong hits the big leagues with open-world destruction
My colleagues have been hard at work covering the Nintendo Switch 2's launch this year, meaning I've been able to sit back and enjoy the console as a fan. Still, the itch to write about my love of this new hybrid gaming machine has been growing, and this week's launch of Donkey Kong Bananza is giving me just the opportunity.
The Switch 2 launched with practically only one major title; Mario Kart World. As great of a game as it is, Nintendo fans have been waiting for another first-party game to hit the console to help justify its steep price tag. In fact, our own tech editor Mike Andronico noted as much in his review of the console. But now, the game is finally here. I'll be diving in this weekend to see what all the excitement is and if it was worth the wait, but if all the buzz online is any indication, the team who made Super Mario Odyssey has reunited for yet another console-defining game.
If you've been out of the loop, Bananza throws Donkey Kong into the spotlight with his first new game in over a decade. This underground exploration game has players smashing through an open-world environment to complete objectives, battle enemies and collecting in-game items. The destructible environments look like the perfect opportunity to show off the Switch 2's improved hardware, not to mention Donkey Kong's new and improved look — two things I'm excited to experience while I play this weekend. If you'd like to join me on your own Switch 2, Donkey Kong Bananza is now available for purchase for $70 at Amazon.

You can still get a free gift card when you buy a new Samsung foldable phone

Hadlee Simons / Android Authority These offers are available from Amazon. As such, the freebies are Amazon gift cards, so you can only use them with the popular online retailer. You can use the credits for anything available from Amazon. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 + $200 Amazon Gift Card Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 + $200 Amazon Gift Card Thin, light, high-powered, and it folds! The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers an 8-inch OLED screen, a 200MP camera, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, and a 4,400mAh battery. The Galaxy AI experience is baked in, offering tools across the camera, Circle to Search, and much more. Best of all, Samsung continues to evolve their fold folding hinge assembly, promising reduced visibility of the crease. See price at Amazon Save $200.00 Limited Time Deal! To many, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the very best foldable smartphone in the industry. It's also quite expensive at just a penny under $2,000, though. You'll want to take advantage of any deal you can get! While this isn't a discount, many of us already shop at Amazon, so the $200 Amazon gift card will come in handy. I actually use Amazon for some of my grocery shopping, so I will end up saving anyway. You're still paying a premium price, so you should expect to get a premium smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold is as good as foldable phones get. For starters, it is very powerful, featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 12GB of RAM. Performance is up there with the best Android phones. Ryan Haines / Android Authority Of course, the main highlight is the internal display. It is large at a whopping 8.0 inches, edging on tablet territory. It also features a Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X screen with a sharp 2,184 x 1,968 resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. This makes it an amazing device for watching videos, playing games, or even general browsing. It also makes it an impressive multitasking machine, allowing you to easily enjoy multiple windows and apps simultaneously. You won't always want to unfold the device or use the giant screen, though. It uses a lot of power, and comes with an extra step. The 6.5-inch external screen makes it easier to take care of quick tasks. The design is sleek and sturdy, featuring an aluminum frame and an IP48 rating, making it both water—and dust-resistant. The camera system, while not up there with the Galaxy S25 series, is relatively good. It also comes with a 4,400mAh battery, which is honestly not that impressive. That said, making a foldable phone comes with its sacrifices, and these are very common in the world of foldables. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 + $200 Amazon Gift Card Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 + $200 Amazon Gift Card A good flip phone that could have been more The Galaxy Z Flip 7 offers some of Samsung's most impressive flip phone hardware ever, featuring a 4.1-inch edge-to-edge cover screen and a thickness of just 13.7mm when closed. It also has a larger 6.9-inch inner display, good general performance, and seven years of Android updates. The Flip 7 is a great buy for Samsung fans, but if you're willing to look at the competition, there are better options available. See price at Amazon Save $200.00 Limited Time Deal! Those who prefer smaller phones will love the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. It easily fits in any pocket without adding much bulk. It's also nice that it's nowhere near $2,000! This one goes for $1,099.99. It's still pricey, but much more reasonable, especially considering you get a free $200 gift card right now. Performance is still quite impressive, thanks to the Samsung Exynos 2500 chipset and 12GB of RAM. This is more than enough to keep most users happy; you would have to really push its limits to notice any slowdowns. Joe Maring / Android Authority The main internal display measures 6.9 inches. It's still a gorgeous Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel with a sharp Full HD+ resolution and smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The external display is much smaller than the Fold's at 4.1 inches, but that is actually a very nice size for a flip phone. It can handle quick tasks and notifications perfectly. The design is just as nice, with an aluminum frame, and it also comes with an IP48 rating. And while the device is significantly smaller than the Fold 7, the battery isn't that much smaller at 4,300mAh. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE + $100 Amazon Gift Card Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE + $100 Amazon Gift Card Budget-friendly Galaxy Z Flip With as few compromises as possible to bring the price down, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE rocks a 6.7-inch main display, a 3.4-inch front display, and an Exynos chipset. See price at Amazon Save $100.00 Limited Time Deal! While not exactly cheap, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is for those who want a quality flip phone at a lower price. It's $899.99, and this one comes with a free $100 Amazon gift card. All things considered, the differences between the Flip 7 and Flip 7 FE aren't that huge. Casual users will still be happy with it. It has a decent Exynos 2400 processor and 8GB of RAM. It's not as impressive, for sure, but it's more than enough to keep the device running smoothly most of the time. C. Scott Brown / Android Authority The battery is also smaller at 4,000mAh, but it keeps the same camera system as the main Flip 7. The 6.7-inch screen is smaller, but it has the same Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel, Full HD+ resolution, and 120Hz refresh rate. That said, the external screen is smaller at 3.4 inches. The aluminum frame and IP48 rating are also the same. Are you getting any of these new Samsung foldable phones? The free gift card offers have already been around for a while, so we can't imagine they will last much longer. Take advantage of these offers while you can! Follow

Here is how San Leandro residents can get a free Ring camera

The San Leandro Police Department on Tuesday began giving away 1,000 Ring cameras to help strengthen security in neighborhoods and aid in criminal investigations. Fifty residents have already claimed their free cameras, which are dispensed on a first-come basis, San Leandro Police Department spokesperson Abe Tang said. Applicants must be San Leandro residents and agree to register their cameras in a department database that lists the addresses with the city-issued security systems. After crimes are reported, the police department may ask for users' permission to view video footage. Officers already ask community members for surveillance tapes, evidence that creates 'infinitely greater' odds of getting a lead or solving a crime, Tang said. 'Video surveillance gives us the chance to at least capture descriptions, distinctive clothing, sometimes license plates, or at least a car description of a suspect vehicle,' Tang said. 'All those things can be very critical when we're building cases.' The city-funded program also aims to help lower-income residents access what can be costly security technology. One Ring camera can range from $49.99 to $179.99. 'Not everyone has equal access,' Tang said. 'People who want to maybe have some equipment or technology to help improve public safety in their homes or in their own neighborhoods, but they can't afford it.' Similar Bay Area police collaborations with the Amazon-owned home security company in recent years have alarmed local privacy advocates, who have said the cameras may intrude on the privacy of bystanders or exacerbate racial profiling. The security system company's partnerships with law enforcement have also weathered national scrutiny. In 2024, Ring announced it would shut down the feature that allowed police departments to request video footage. The policy change came two years after Ring said it handed over 11 videos to the police without notifying users during emergency circumstances, and one year after the company paid $5.8 million to settle with the Federal Trade Commission for allegedly failing to enact 'basic privacy and security protections.' Officers can obtain search warrants to access video footage without the owner's consent.

This $100 discount makes the Motorola Razr 2025 my favorite budget flip phone

Ryan Haines / Android Authority Motorola Razr (2025) I absolutely love flip phones, mainly because I am a fan of smaller devices. There's also the novelty factor; these are really cool and always spark conversations. My main issue is that they also tend to be very expensive. Things are changing, though, and there are now very accessible devices with a foldable screen. If I had to spend my hard-earned money, I would go for the Motorola Razr 2025, which is now $599.99 thanks to a $100 discount. Buy the Motorola Razr 2025 for just $599.99 ($100 off) This offer is available from Amazon. The device is at an all-time low price, and the discount applies to all color versions available. This includes Pantone Gibraltar Sea, Pantone Lightest Sky, Pantone Parfait Pink, and Pantone Spring Bud. Motorola Razr 2025 Motorola Razr 2025 The most affordable 2025 Razr A good looking 6.9-inch folding display is paired with a 3.6-inch external display to make up a compact folded phone, with few compromises at full-size. The Motorola Razr 2025 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7300X and 8GB of RAM, a 50MP camera, and a 4,500mAh battery. See price at Amazon Save $100.00 Not all of us need a high-end device, right? In fact, I usually recommend cheaper phones to casual users. Modern budget phones have gotten really good, and now you can even get a phone with a foldable screen at a very reasonable price. In fact, we've previously mentioned that the Motorola Razr 2025 is the best first flip phone to get! Especially if you can save an extra $100 on the already affordable price. Again, remember foldable flip phones tend to be pricey compared to other traditional phones with the same specs. While this also applies to this one, the Razr is much more competitive than we're used to. The phone is actually built pretty nicely. It comes with an aluminum frame and a stainless steel hinge, making it pretty sturdy. It also comes in a variety of unique colors, making it a very fun device to rock. I especially love the back, which is made of vegan leather, making it both unique and more comfortable to hold. It's a phone with a lot of personality! And if you care for water and dust resistance, it also gets an IP48 rating. Ryan Haines / Android Authority The specs include a MediaTek Dimensity 7400X processor and 8GB of RAM. This is nothing to write home about, but these components make the phone capable enough for most casual tasks, some gaming, and relatively heavy processing. The Motorola Razr 2025 also has a surprisingly nice screen, considering the price point. The 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED panel features a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will look as good as most of the devices in our list of the best Android phones! But if you want to save energy or prefer not to unfold the device, there'/s a pretty nice 3.6-inch external display for quick tasks. The battery is not really big at 4,500mAh, but that is actually very reasonable in the world of flip phones. You can recharge at 30W wired or 15W wirelessly. Remember, this is a record-low price! Such deals don't come often and usually go away pretty fast. Take advantage of this deal while you can. Follow
