Mikaal Zulfiqar teaches Amar Khan steps to 'Sanu Tere Nal'

Some twenty-five years after the release of Abrarul Haq's music video for Sanu Tere Nal, Mikaal Zulfiqar can still move like a pro. In an Instagram post shared Thursday, the Diyare Dil actor taught fellow actor Amar Khan the steps to the hit song, the music video for which Mikaal starred in 2000.
Mentioning the context, Amar wrote, "Dile Nadaan's last scene and Mikaal Zulfiqar's first music video. Back in the days, Abrarul Haq's song Sanu Tere Nal was quite a sensational chartbuster. Look at how vividly Mikaal remembers the hook steps and how well he taught me, too."
The post was a pleasant memory for Mikaal, who took to the comments section to offer a few kind words of his own. "Haha. I forgot about this," he wrote. "It was a pleasure working with you, Amar. Best wishes."
Back in 2000, Mikaal featured in the hit's music video as a lovestruck teenage boy, starring opposite model Iman Ali. During an interview with Vasay Chaudhry in September, he broke into praises for his female peers, claiming that he couldn't choose one over the other when asked about crushes. However, there seemed to be a clear winner - his first co-star. "They're all wonderful. You could say that I have a crush on all of them. But now that it's being mentioned, I'd say I had a crush on Iman Ali," he said.
While the 43-year-old actor believes that he was once a heartthrob on the screen, he acknowledged that those days are behind him due to the roles that he's being offered now. But he doesn't necessarily see that as a setback.
"I would love to do a comedic role," he said, before looking back on his journey in the industry so far. "Recently, I've been getting a lot of negative roles, like those of abusive husbands. Usually, when you get into a certain stream in television, you get stereotyped into attracting the same roles. I started off as the boy-next-door, but now that I'm older, I get more mature and grey characters that have both romantic and dark sides, which is more realistic."
Mikaal shared he would sometimes get offered the roles of college boys, too. But the idea doesn't appeal to him at this stage. "I don't think I can carry those roles anymore because I'm not part of that age group anymore. It requires an energy that I don't possess. I'm better off doing characters who are mature," he said.
