Regarding LIV Golf players, the PGA Tour has its position perfectly clear: they cannot return until one year has passed since their last appearance in the Saudi-backed league.
Although there are cases of former LIV golfers who have already met that deadline, it is still notable that they have not sought to return to the PGA Tour, at least not on a permanent basis.
One such case is that of James Piot, a 26-year-old who will be making his first PGA Tour start since 2022 next weekend. Piot has played only seven American-based circuit events in his career, four of them as an amateur.
The player received a sponsor's exemption to play in the Rocket Classic, which is held at the Detroit Golf Club, in his hometown.

James Piot of the United States in action on the 10th hole during the second round of The International Series Japan presented by Moutai at Caledonian Golf Club on May 9, 2025 in Yokoshibahikari, Chiba, Japan. MoreMark Hollis, one of the directors of Rock Ventures and the Rocket Classic, told the Detroit News details about this decision:
"There was a lot of support, and it was one or the happiest calls I've made. He's somebody we wanted in from the get-go as we were going through the process. It had to play out the way it played out," Hollis said.
Piot, for his part, described the idea of being able to play in his hometown:
"For it to actually happen is the coolest thing in the world. It's awesome. Just the fact I finally get to play in the Rocket Classic, it's a dream come true. Ever since the event was created on the schedule, I wanted to be a part of it," he said.
A very revealing detail is that Piot was preparing to play in the Monday qualifier to try to win a spot in the event when he received the call from the sponsors.
James Piot had a distinguished amateur career, highlighted by his 2021 US Amateur title. He graduated from Michigan State in 2022, beginning his professional career in May of that year.

Opportunities to play on the PGA Tour immediately arose, and he teed off at the Charles Schwab Challenge and the Memorial Tournament. However, after playing in the 2022 US Open, he decided to answer the call of LIV Golf, effectively closing PGA Tour's door to date.
Piot played 21 individual LIV Golf events in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. His results were generally poor, and he was relegated at the end of his second season.
Since then, he has been playing primarily on the Asian Tour.
Piot had already played one tournament under the PGA Tour umbrella in April of this year: the LECOM Suncoast Classic on the Korn Ferry Tour.
The list of former LIV Golf players who have returned to the PGA Tour is extremely short. Bernd Wiesberger and Laurie Canter played in the 2024 Scottish Open, but only because it's a co-sanctioned event with the DP World Tour.
Canter himself became the first former LIV player to make the field of a tournament run solely by the PGA Tour when he played in the 2025 Players Championship.

Manchester United submit second bid for Bryan Mbeumo; Will this meet Brentford's valuation?

Manchester United have submitted another official bid to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. By Ravi Kumar Jha Published on June 24, 2025, 08:41 IST Manchester United have submitted another official bid to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford as he is their top target in the summer transfer window now. United want the forward badly as they are in negotiations since the start of the window. However, Brentford aren't agreeing on the transfer fee, but the new bid is in excess of €60 million which is said to be close to what the club values the forward. Despite this, the club is expected to make few changes in the fee and this deal is likely to be done soon. Manchester United have submitted a fresh official bid to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, who is now considered their top target in the ongoing summer transfer window. The Red Devils have been in negotiations with Brentford since the window opened, showing strong intent to land the versatile forward. According to sources, United's latest offer exceeds €60 million, bringing them closer to Brentford's valuation of the Cameroon international. While the London-based club has so far resisted agreeing on a fee, this improved bid is said to have moved talks in a positive direction. The Premier League giants are reportedly eager to finalise the deal soon, with only minor adjustments expected in the fee structure. Mbeumo, who scored 9 goals and provided 6 assists in the 2023/24 season despite injury setbacks, has emerged as a priority signing for Erik ten Hag's side as they look to strengthen their attack. Mavericks reportedly reach three year, $54.7 million extension with Daniel Gafford

Daniel Gafford has agreed to an extension with the Dallas Mavericks — but he still could be traded this summer. ESPN's Shams Charania broke the news that 'Gafford intends to sign a three-year contract extension worth nearly $60 million.' The reality is that Gafford's maximum extension off his current deal is $54.7 million, which is likely what this is for (with some very generous rounding up, you can get to 'near $60 million'). This is three years added to the $14.4 million already on the final year of his existing contract, and the deal will now run through the summer of 2029. There is no option on the final year of the deal, it's a straight three years, reports Dallas-based writer Grant Afseth. That's a lot of money for a backup center, but Gafford is not an average backup. Last season he averaged 12.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks a game and started 31 games for the Mavericks. He is a solid defender and scorer at the rim, but he does not space the floor — 69% of his shot attempts last season were in the restricted area, and he hasn't attempted a 3-pointer for three seasons. Shooting that much at the rim has its advantages, Gafford shot 70.2% from the field last season. After the NBA Draft, Dallas will have a packed frontcourt with Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II, P.J. Washington, Gafford and now Cooper Flagg. Gafford's name has come up as a possible trade target for teams needing a center, including the Los Angeles Lakers, where Gafford could pair with his old running partner Luka Doncic. This extension, once signed (after July 6), would not preclude him from being traded. However, the Mavericks are going to be seeking a steep price to send Gafford to Los Angeles or anywhere else.

This news is particularly surprising since Mysterio hasn't wrestled in a match since the June 9 episode of Raw and has been featured on television since then. It remains to be seen if this is a legitimate injury or is simply a kayfabe reason for Mysterio to miss the event.
