Rihanna hasn't released a new full-length album in more than eight years – this is one of the most-talked-about topics in pop music – and yet she continues to be found regularly on the Billboard charts. Fans have been eagerly awaiting a follow-up to Anti for nearly a decade, and while the singer has dropped hints and made promises, a new project still hasn't materialized, and likely won't for some time.
The superstar keeps a pair of projects on the charts this time around. Anti and Good Girl Gone Bad are both still present, and the similarities between their placements are uncanny, which points to fans consuming them in similar ways and numbers.
Two Rihanna Albums Return to the Same Chart
Both of Rihanna's studio efforts this week find a home once more on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Anti, her most recent full-length, is back on the tally at No. 48. Not far behind that set comes Good Girl Gone Bad, which returns at No. 50.
Rihanna's Albums Climb Side-by-Side
As was the case last week, Anti and Good Girl Gone Bad are sitting next to one another on the Top R&B Albums chart. Both projects make modest gains on the genre-specific tally, inching up by just one space each. Anti advances to No. 14, while just beneath it is Good Girl Gone Bad, now at No. 15.
Rihanna Slips Slightly on the Billboard 200
The similarities continue over on the Billboard 200, where both Anti and Good Girl Gone Bad also settle this frame. While they don't move together in perfect lockstep, the trajectory is the same. Anti drops two spaces to No. 142, while Good Girl Gone Bad falls five rungs to No. 146.
Anti Has Hit No. 1 on All Three Charts — Good Girl Gone Bad Hasn't
Of the two Rihanna albums currently charting, Anti is the bigger commercial and critical success. It has reached No. 1 on all three of the charts it currently appears on — the Billboard 200, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, and Top R&B Albums rankings.
Good Girl Gone Bad, despite standing out as a defining moment in her discography, hasn't managed to conquer any of those same lists. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, rose as high as No. 3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally, and stalled at No. 4 on the Top R&B Albums roster.

Listen: Mariah Carey sings about her type in 'Type Dangerous'

June 6 (UPI) -- Mariah Carey released her first song of 2025 on Friday. The music icon, 56, dropped the single "Type Dangerous" and its official lyric video. "Said we'd be together, but you didn't stay forever," she sings. "Now I guess it's just whatever till the 12th of never. I've never been afraid of love. That's why I like 'em dangerous." The video shows the singer driving her car with wind in her hair. The song is set to appear on an upcoming album. "Type Dangerous" follows the release of the deluxe anniversary edition of The Emancipation of Mimi, which dropped May 30. The new version has 40 songs -- twice the number of tracks that appeared on the 2005 original. "So happy to celebrate this milestone anniversary with you all for an album that meant so much to me then, and means even more now," Carey said on Instagram. Mariah Carey turns 56: a look back Mariah Carey won Top Pop Artist at the Billboard Music Awards on December 3, 1991. Earlier that year, her album self-titled album topped the Billboard charts. Barry Manilow heartbroken by Billy Joel's health crisis

Barry Manilow's heart "broke" when he heard about Billy Joel's health crisis. The veteran musician was forced to cancel all of his tour dates for the rest of the year after he was diagnosed with a rare brain condition called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), which is caused by a build-up of fluid in the brain, and now Manilow has admitted he feels terrible about seeing the Piano Man go through such a tough time. He told Billboard: "Oh, it's so horrible, so horrible. It just broke my heart when I heard about Billy Joel. I'm such a fan of his work. I really hope he's able to get back to it." Manilow went on to admit there aren't many of his contemporaries still performing. He said: "It's like: 'What? Am I the only one left?' It's Billy Joel, and Elton [John] is not well and Rod [Stewart] and Neil [Diamond]. Diana Ross is still in great shape, I think. "There must be only a handful of people in my world that are still there. "I'm still healthy. I'm strong and I've still got my voice and my energy. The night I can't hit the F natural on Even Now, that's the night I throw in the towel. But I can still do it." Joel recently axed all of his tour dates - including 17 dates in North America and England - but reports suggest he has no plans to retire despite the diagnosis. Announcing the news on social media, a statement from Joel's team read: "Billy Joel has announced that he will be cancelling all scheduled concerts following a recent diagnosis of Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH). This condition has been exacerbated by recent concert performances, leading to problems with hearing, vision and balance. "Under his doctor's instructions, Billy is undergoing physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period. Billy is thankful for the excellent care he is receiving and is fully committed to prioritising his health. "He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage." Billy added his own message to fans, saying: "I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding."

Rihanna's Classics Return As Her New Single Vanishes Almost Immediately

Last week, the world was treated to a new song by Rihanna, which is a fairly rare occurrence these days. The singer is otherwise preoccupied with being a mother and running her massively successful cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty, but she does deliver a track or two here and there, and they are usually associated with film projects. "Friend of Mine" is set to be featured in the upcoming animated Smurfs film, which is expected later this summer. While there was plenty of excitement when the tune was announced, it didn't prove to be a massive commercial success. Just days after its debut, the cut has already faded, while several of Rihanna's time-tested smashes are back. Two of Rihanna's most popular songs reappear on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart this week. The pair rebounds together and sit side-by-side, as "Don't Stop the Music" reenters the list of the bestselling tracks in those genres at No. 36, while "Love the Way You Lie," one of her collaborations with Eminem, is back at No. 37. "Don't Stop the Music" and "Love the Way You Lie" rank among Rihanna's 14 No. 1s on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart. Nearly half of the 33 tracks she's pushed into the top 10 on the genre-only tally have spent time in the highest spot, and most have racked up more than one frame on the throne. Rihanna currently fills three spaces on the 40-rung roster. "Stay," her collaboration with Mikky Ekko and a former runner-up, dips from No. 24 to No. 27, and is joined this frame by both 'Don't Stop the Music' and 'Love the Way You Lie.' "Friend of Mine" didn't reach the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart, as it was classified under a different genre by the Official Charts Company. Instead, it launched at No. 19 on the Official Dance Singles chart — but it can no longer be found on that ranking. In fact, even though "Friend of Mine" opened on four song rosters across the U.K. just days ago, it now appears on none of them. The tune started at No. 72 on the Official Singles chart, No. 75 on the Official Singles Downloads list, and No. 79 on the Official Singles Sales ranking. It only managed one frame on each tally, at least so far. That's quite a stark contrast when compared to tracks like "Stay" and "Love the Way You Lie," which have both racked up more than 100 weeks on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart.
