CF Chinook Centre hopes to set world record at Saturday pancake breakfast
Tens of thousands of people attended a Calgary Stampede breakfast at the CF Chinook Centre in 2023. CF Chinook Centre hopes to break the world record for most flapjacks served Saturday morning at its annual Stampede pancake breakfast. More than 25,000 visitors are expected at the rain-or-shine, first-come, first-served event, which starts at 7 a.m. in the east parking lot between Chapters and Yeti. There will be pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee for everyone, along with a Kiddie Corral and outdoor retail market. There will also be live music featuring performances by Madeline Merlo, Tony Stevens, Nolan Compton and Hayley Isabel. The event will be hosted by Jimmy and Jodi Hughes. Friday at 4 p.m., Chinook Centre is hosting a pancake stacking contest featuring teams of notable Calgarians who will race to stack 65 pancakes. The winning team gets $2,000 to donate to the charity of their choice. In 2023, the Calgary Stampede set a world record at Family Day, serving 17, 182 pancakes, which broke the old record by almost 3,000 flapjacks.
