RM2.64m of Europe-bound drugs seized
PETALING JAYA: Drugs that were intended for the European market were seized after Bukit Aman arrested two suspected drug pushers.
Narcotics Crime Investigation Department acting director Deputy Comm Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali said an operation on April 23 led to the arrest of two suspects, a local and a Chinese national, aged 34 and 38.
The first arrest was made at a restaurant in Sepang at around 5.25am while the second suspect was picked up at Kota Warisan at around 6.15am.
'We also raided a rented house in Bukit Changgang, Banting, where 144 packages, believed to be marijuana, weighing 75.51kg were found.
'The estimated value of the seized drugs was around RM2.64mil, which could have been used by 151,000 drug addicts,' he said in a statement.
DCP Mat Zani said investigations showed both suspects were exporting the drugs to Europe with the syndicate being active since early this year.
'The house, a homestay unit, was used as a storehouse at a rental cost of RM180 per month.
'Both tested negative for drugs,' the acting director said, adding that background checks showed both had no prior criminal records.

The raid saw 12 suspects taken into custody. The authorities explained that the group were producing and distributing – as well as live-streaming – pornographic content. Rath Sreang, commander of the Municipal Gendarmerie, explained that the operation took place on Wednesday (June 4) at a flat located along Street 242, in Prampi Makara district's Boeung Prolit commune. The 12 suspects included six Chinese nationals, five Cambodians and a Malaysian. Computers, condoms and a range of sex toys were seized during the raid. Sreang said the 12 suspects were sent to court on June 6. It was unclear how long they had been producing pornographic content for. He confirmed that he ordered the raid, in coordination with Seng Mengsrun, deputy prosecutor at Phnom Penh Municipal Court. The Kingdom's Law on Suppression of Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation explained that anyone who possesses, distributes, sells, rents, displays, screens or publicly shows pornographic images shall face a term of imprisonment of from 7 days to 1 month and a fine of 100,000 to 200,000 riel (US$25 to US$50). The production of pornographic images or materials carries a prison term of from 1 month to 1 year and a fine of 100,000 (US$25) to 2,000,000 riels (US$500). Sisters' Aidiladha shopping trip derailed by expired road tax

The siblings, aged 18 and 22, were travelling from Chempaka to the Wakaf Che Yeh bazaar in Kota Baru when they were stopped at a road block mounted by the Road Transport Department (JPJ) in a special festive operation. Upon checking, the motorcycle's road tax was found to have expired in 2023. According to the elder girl, they did not realise that the road tax had expired as they rarely used the motorcycle. 'I have been working in Kuala Lumpur for a while now and my sister, who owns the bike, also works outside Kelantan. We did not realise that the road tax had expired,' the report quoted her as saying. Four charged over suspected involvement in ‘blessing' scams
A gold necklace, S$1,311 in cash and 10,050 yuan (S$1,800) were seized. - SINGAPORE POLICE FORCE SINGAPORE: Three women and a man have been charged in court over allegedly cheating victims of cash and gold in 'blessing' scams. Chinese nationals Zhong Weifeng, 58, Huang Ximing, 61, Huang Meiling, 56, and Huang Qinyan, 47, were charged with conspiracy to cheat on Friday (June 6). On June 2, Zhong and Huang Meiling approached one of the victims and led her to Huang Qinyan, who claimed to be a Chinese physician. The victim was told she was experiencing misfortune due to 'negative spiritual elements', the police said on June 6. To ward off misfortune, the woman was said to have handed $700 in cash and a gold necklace to Huang Qinyan, who placed the items in a plastic bag. Huang Qinyan performed a 'cleansing ritual' on the valuables, and the victim was told to keep the plastic bag, untouched, under her bed for a month. The woman checked the bag the next day and found that her valuables had been replaced with leaves. On June 4, the police received a report of another scam with a similar modus operandi. According to the police, the second victim was approached by two of the accused and convinced to place an envelope with cash into a black rubbish bag for safekeeping. She later discovered that her money had gone missing. Police investigations found that Huang Ximing was working together with the three women to cheat the victims. All four were arrested on June 5.
