When is the U.S. Open? It's here, and here's How to watch, early-week odds, and course history

U.S. Open week is here. The 125th edition of the golf's national championship will be at the rugged Oakmont Country Club near Pittsburgh June 12-15. Oakmont has now hosted a record 10 U.S. Opens and 18 USGA championships in its 123-year history. Advertisement Bryson DeChambeau is the defending champion after beating Rory McIlroy by one shot last year at Pinehurst. Bryson DeChambeau won the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst, his second victory in the country's national championship. Both players are back, along with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Brooks Kopeka and Jon Rahm. How to watch the U.S. Open NBC and its broadcast and streaming platforms (Peacock, USA Network, Golf Channel) will provide nearly 300 hours of U.S. Open coverage, beginning with practice rounds on Monday, June 9. NBC will be on the air for 21 of the 47 scheduled broadcast hours of competition, a record for a major championship. In addition to four days of championship coverage on NBC, USA Network and Peacock, there will be feature group coverage on each day of the competitive rounds (three groups in the morning, three in the afternoon), on the USGA App, YouTube TV and DirecTV. Peacock viewers can watch all three groups at a time on multiview. Advertisement U.S. Open 'All-Access.' hosted by Trey Wingo, will have 'whiparound' coverage of the tournament. About the Oakmont Country Club The club opened in 1903 and was the only course designed by Henry Fownes, on property in the Allegheny River Valley used primarily as farmland. Gil Hanse recently oversaw a renovation. What fans might notice about Oakmont if they're watching for the first time is that there are no water hazards on the course. No ponds, lakes, creeks or rivers. The danger in Oakmont is its length (the course will play 7,372 for the championship) and the number of huge, deep bunkers. Advertisement Another feature about Oakmont is the par-3 eighth hole, which can play up to 300 yards, and the 'church pew bunkers,' or rows of grass within a huge fairway bunker, between the par-3 third hole and the par-4 fourth hole. Oakmont will host U.S. Opens in 2034, 2042, and 2049. It also has hosted three PGA Championships, three NCAA Championships and two U.S. Women's Championships. The last U.S. Open at Oakmont was in 2016, won by Dustin Johnson. Who has won U.S. Opens at Oakmont? 1927: Tommy Armour 1935: Sam Parks 1953: Ben Hogan 1962: Jack Nicklaus 1973: Johnny Miller 1983: Larry Nelson 1994: Ernie Els 2007: Angel Cabrera 2016: Dustin Johnson Who has won the most U.S. Opens? 4-Willie Anderson (1901, 1903, 1904, 1905), Bobby Jones (1923, 1926, 1929, 1930), Ben Hogan (1948, 1950, 1951, 1953), Jack Nicklaus (1962, 1967, 1972, 1980). 3-Hale Irwin (1974, 1979, 1990), Tiger Woods (2000, 2002, 2008). Fifteen players have won two Opens. The last was Brooks Koepka who won his second in 2018. It also was the last time a player won back-to-back. Who's favored in the U.S. Open? BetMGM has established Scheffler as the favorite at +275. Trailing him are four past U.S. Open champions, DeChambeau (+800), McIlroy (+1100) and Jon Rahm (+1200).
