Authorities foil major Methamphetamine operation in Jordan

The Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) in Jordan thwarted a major attempt to manufacture crystal meth inside the country, one of the most serious drug production plots uncovered to date.
The bust was part of a broader week-long crackdown that led to the arrest of 25 drug traffickers, dealers, and smugglers in nine separate cases, per a statement.
A PSD spokesperson said the AND intensified intelligence and field operations, uncovering a plot by two Arab nationals attempting to produce crystal meth in a residential apartment in the northern governorate of Irbid.
After months of surveillance, the suspects were apprehended during a raid, and authorities seized 15 kilograms of crystal meth along with 10 liters of precursor chemicals used in its production.
In another case, a security unit raided a location in the Rwaished district, in the Manshiyet Al-Ghayath area, where they uncovered 125,000 narcotic pills and two firearms. Four suspects were arrested.
Authorities also intercepted two smuggling attempts at the Jaber Border Crossing in coordination with the Customs Department. One operation involved 12,000 pills and half a kilogram of crystal meth concealed in candy and chocolate packaging.
In the second, 65,000 pills were hidden inside cartons of cigarettes. The smugglers were detained.
A major security sweep in the Jabal Al-Taj area of Amman resulted in the arrest of eight drug dealers, including an armed suspect classified as dangerous. Various narcotics were confiscated during the raid.
In the northern Badia region, two suspects using social media to sell pills were arrested with 7,000 pills in their possession. Another dealer was caught in Aqaba transporting drugs to the capital with 12,000 pills, crystal meth, and marijuana.
