QCA supports second chances with Safer Sacks
April is Second Chance Month, and community leaders in the QCA came together to support Safer Foundation as they packed for Safer Sacks lunches for the community.
Mayors from Rock Island, Davenport and Bettendorf helped with the packing alongside members of the community. Safer Sacks is one of the biggest fundraisers for Safer Foundation Quad Cities. Safer Foundation provides services aimed at eliminating barriers to success for individuals impacted by the criminal legal system and helps teens get back on track educationally.
This is the 20th year for Safer Sacks. Pick-up orders are available Thursday, April 24, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the JB Young Opportunity Center, located at 1702 N. Main St., Davenport.

Professional clothes donated at Second Chance Month clothing drive in DC
WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — April is considered Second Chance Month and the The Bowser Administration and the Mayor's Office on Returning Citizen Affairs are looking to provide clothing for individuals reentering society after spending time incarcerated. U.S. Supreme Court temporarily blocks use of Alien Enemies Act pending ruling on related case The Second Chance Clothing Drive allowed people to donate professional clothes on Friday. Executive Director of MORCA Lamont Carey spoke to DC News Now about the impact of this event. 'It's an opportunity to alleviate strain on individuals who just came home,' Carey said. A Welcome Home Expo is scheduled for April 23 at 10 a.m. at the Stadium Armory – Drill Floor, 2001 East Capitol Street SE.
