CSPD: Suspect arrested after stolen truck chase from Fountain
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The driver of a stolen truck who ran away from officers in Fountain was found in Colorado Springs eight days after initially escaping police.
On Tuesday, May 13, police located a stolen Ford F-250 in the City of Fountain. The driver of the vehicle and suspect, 36-year-old Michael Rempel, allegedly drove away from officers into the City of Colorado Springs, and CSPD was notified that Rempel could be in the city.
The stolen truck was later found in Colorado Springs on Wednesday, May 21, near the Citadel Mall after the vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run, according to CSPD. While detectives were investigating the crash, they saw Rempel allegedly altering the appearance of the truck.
As the investigation continued, detectives saw Rempel park in an alleyway in the 1300 block of North El Paso Street. Because of the aggressive behavior witnessed during surveillance, the Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) was called and performed a Contact Block.
According to police, Rempel accelerated and attempted to ram his way out of the block, but the tactical vehicles maintained the block. Rempel then attempted to run away on foot, but tactical officers pursued and took him into custody.
Rempel was taken to the hospital for treatment, then booked into the Criminal Justice Center for charges of Motor Vehicle Theft, Felony Eluding, Obstruction, Felony Criminal Mischief, and Possession of Methamphetamine. CSPD said Rempel has a history of motor vehicle theft and was out on bond for two separate motor vehicle theft cases.

The Honda crashed into a tree and was split into two parts. The Honda also struck two power poles, causing an outage in the area. It's believed 300–400 customers are out of power. The drivers of both vehicles are said to be in stable condition. A passenger in the Honda was trapped inside, but has since been taken to a hospital for surgery. Police say the passenger was in critical condition. Police have closed off Fondren's southbound lanes to investigate the crash and clear the area. What we don't know There are allegations that the two cars that crashed were racing, but police say that hasn't been confirmed. There is no estimate on when southbound Fondren will be cleared. Man suffers minor injuries in hit-and-run
ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) — A man suffered minor injuries in a hit-and-run two-vehicle accident around 12th and Edmond Streets Wednesday. A white Dodge pickup was heading south on 12th Street when it ran a stop sign and struck a white Ford F-150 that was heading east on Edmond Street. The driver of the Dodge pickup fled on foot after driving further down the street. The white F-150 spun, impacted a KCP&L utility pole, which caused significant damage," St. Joseph Police Sgt. Brian McClintick said. "Like I said, the Dodge pulled further down the street, and then witnesses said that he left the area with a dog. Local law enforcement is investigating this incident.

Victim in fatal crash on I-90 was a musician set to perform at the Levitt this weekend
The South Dakota Department of Public Safety has released the name of a Flandreau man who died June 2 in a two-vehicle crash a couple miles west of Sioux Falls. Casey Joe Wilson, 50, died at the scene of the accident at mile marker 394 on Interstate 90. Wilson was one-half of Sioux Falls country duo The Barn Flies, which was scheduled to perform June 6 at The Levitt. The band was also scheduled to perform Aug. 15 at the Blue Rock Bar & Grill. Wilson was a leading Sioux Falls figure in efforts to reform state custody laws, organizing social media campaigns and leading the 'Kids Need Both Parents PAC.' Visitation services for him will be 4-7 p.m. June 6 at Flandreau High School, and a night of honoring Wilson will occur afterward at The Merc in Flandreau, which is owned by Wilson and his wife, Carleen Wild. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. June 7 at Flandreau High School. According to the Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at 9:06 a.m., when Wilson's 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan was heading west and collided with the rear of a 2015 Ford F-350 road construction vehicle that was stopped in the right lane with active warning signals. He was directing traffic into the left lane. The impact sent the construction truck into the median, where it caught fire. Wilson's vehicle came to a stop on the westbound shoulder. Authorities confirmed Wilson was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. The driver of the Ford truck sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
