Boy, 7, drives his little sister on a mission to McDonald's in his mom's SUV

Metro05-05-2025
A seven-year-old boy drove his mother's SUV with his five-year-old sister inside on a mission to eat at McDonald's.
Cops started a pursuit of the boy after responding to a call for a reckless driver, but backed off after learning how young he was and fearing putting the public at risk, according to the Ogden Police Department.
The boy eventually hit a parking strip in Ogden, Utah, and cops rushed to the scene and found him and his sister uninjured.
His mom, Whitney Bush, said she received a knock on the door and found out that her vehicle was missing – along with two of her four children.
'I absolutely had my heart in my stomach… I had no idea what was going on, I was being told different stories of what was happening,' Bush told ABC4.
The terrified mother said she went to the crash scene and was told by cops to go somewhere else.
'They had already had – I guess – EMS come out and check on my kids and transferred them over to the police station,' she said.
Bush said that her son was planning to go to McDonald's and that he had cash prepared and passed a few of the fast food chain's locations while driving nine miles from their home in Clearfield.
She admitted that she was impressed her son got that far and was wearing a seatbelt.
'I'm not proud of him by any means,' she clarified.
'He's in a world of trouble, he's probably grounded for the rest of his life.'
Bush added that her son has displayed some behavioral problems but had never acted to that extreme before.
'I don't think anybody wakes up in the morning or goes through their day thinking their 7-year-old is going to play Grand Theft Auto with their vehicle,' she said.
She said she had asked the Department of Children and Family Services, law enforcement and hospitals for help, but that it did not go anywhere.
The boy, whose identity was not released, will not face charges due to his age. Bush said she will have him do community service for neighbors. More Trending
He crashed near 40th Street on April 27.
Police said that 'given the totality of circumstances, including the suspected age of the driver and the heightened risk to public safety, officers deactivated their emergency equipment and chose not to pursue', according to ABC4.
Ogden is about 35 miles north of Salt Lake City.
It happened a year after a nine-year-old California boy took his mother's car and drove toward his school, before crashing into a police vehicle.

Creator of Willy Wonka experience in court over sex offender register requirements

The man behind the viral Willy Wonka Experience was back in court for breaching his sex offenders register requirements. Billy Coull, 36, was put on the register for one year after he pleaded guilty last November to hounding a woman. Coull repeatedly sent explicit pictures and messages to her despite being told to stop between March 26 and July 2, 2024. One of the texts stated that Coull, of the city's Knightswood, was a 'wolf' and that she was his 'prey.' Coull's conduct was amid the fallout of the infamous Willy Wonka Experience, which he organised in February 2024. Families forked out £35 a ticket earlier for the event at a warehouse in the city's Whiteinch, which was described as disastrous, ill-prepared and shoddy. The former charity worker was forced to shut the event down amid claims that the event left children in tears. Coull was also sentenced in November to 120 hours of unpaid work and put under supervision for a year. However, it emerged that Coull breached his sex offenders register notification requirements days later, on November 21, 2024. Coull was ordered by the sheriff to notify the police that he was on the register within three days of the requirements being imposed. Coull pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court in February this year for failing to do this. He appeared at court on Tuesday before Sheriff Lesley Dowdalls, who had previously ordered him to be of good behaviour. Neil Stewart, defending, told the sentencing: 'He has been of good behaviour.' Prosecutor Abbas Ali then stated: 'I can advise that the report is clear.' Sheriff Dowdalls admonished Coull of the charge. She said: 'I deferred sentence for you to show that you can remain out of trouble and comply with the order. 'I hear no issues have arisen.' Teen who caused £125k of damage to Glasgow flats waits to learn fate

Logan Morrison, 19, sparked the blaze at the Platform building in Glasgow's Anderston Quay on January 29, 2025. Callous Morrison "bragged" after he squirted the contents of the bottle on a couch cushion and ignited it with a lighter. Morrison pleaded guilty last week at Glasgow Sheriff Court to wilful fire raising. He also admitted separate charges of possession of a knife and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner. The sentencing was told that Morrison has since found a place a place to stay in Ayr, Ayrshire. Sheriff Andrew McIntyre then further deferred the case until next month for an up to date report on Morrison's community payback order which will run alongside his fire raising matter. The court previously heard that Morrison gained access to the plush tower block - where residents pay up to £2200 per month - around midnight. He was seen to cover one of the CCTV cameras with a glove. Witnesses saw smoke billowing out of the room as Morrison left showing no remorse for his actions. Prosecutor Caitlin McAllister said: "Witnesses saw that a cushion was set on fire and had been placed under the sofa. "Attempts were made to extinguish it but this was unsuccessful and the fire got worse." The fire alarm then sounded and everyone left the building. Morrison - who was seen with a lighter - attempted to start another blaze with papers. Miss McAllister added: "Morrison was bragging that he used the Fairy Liquid bottle to start the fire." A 999 call was made and the fire brigade as well as the police attended. Miss McAllister said: "The fire was deemed deliberate. "The overhead sprinkler system caused extensive damage through the building. "The cost of the damage was estimated to be between £75,000 to £125,000." The court also heard of earlier incidents which included Morrison sending two pictures of a machete on a social media group chat. He also wrote verbal abuse in a message. Morrison was also caught with a knife by police officers in the other incident. Morrison was put on a community payback order last week for the lesser offences. He was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work and was tagged for four months keeping him indoors between 9pm and 6am. He was also put under supervision for three years.
