Michael Tait, former lead singer of Newsboys, has recently been the subject of multiple allegations involving sexual misconduct, grooming, and substance use. Tait, who joined Newsboys in 2009, was with the band for 16 years and eventually departed in January 2025.
So, how did Newsboys respond to the allegations made against Michael Tait? Here's what we know.
Current Newsboys members Jody, Duncan, Jeff, and Adam issued a statement on Facebook addressing Michael Tait's sexual assault allegations.
'Last night our hearts were shattered when we read the news alleging drug abuse and inappropriate sexual actions by our former lead singer, Michael Tait,' the statement read. The Christian rock band then said the implications of the allegations had 'devastated' them. Tait has yet to address those allegations.
Newsboys then stated that their 'hearts' were with the alleged sexual assault victims who came forward with their stories. The band then urged people to 'come forward' if they were sexual assault victims.
The band then discussed their family lives, sharing how their spouses and children 'made many sacrifices,' while they made music glorifying God. They expressed horror, heartbreak, and anger at the report. 'We feel as if we and our families have been deceived for the last fifteen years,' they added.
Newsboys then concluded their statement by revealing that Tait told them and their management of the 'double-life' he had been leading, when he left the band in January. However, they admitted not imagining that his double life was 'this bad.'
The Roys Report was the first to report on Michael Tait's sexual assault allegations. The outlet spoke with three of Tait's alleged sexual assault victims — all of whom were men. They revealed that Tait had befriended each of them individually in 2004, 2010, and 2014, when they were 22.
The men claimed that they drank alcohol with Tait and later found him fondling their genitals. One of the victims also alleged that Tait offered him cocaine while on a Newsboys tour bus.
Moreover, a third person alleged that Tait gave him a back message while skinny dipping. He also claimed that Tait non-consensually massaged his anal area, while sharing the latter's king-sized bed.
As of now, Michael Tait has not responded publicly to the allegations.

Melbourne teen's treasured bike returned after help from community, police
The Brief A Melbourne teen's bicycle, which belonged to his late father, was recently stolen. The teen's mother took to Facebook to get help locating the bike, and they were able to track it down. The family is grateful to the Melbourne community and the police department that helped them get the bicycle back. MELBOURNE, Fla. - A Melbourne teen's treasure bicycle, given to him by his late father, was returned after being stolen thanks to help from the community and the police department. What we know A 15-year-old Melbourne teen was lifeguarding at Sherwood Park when he says someone stole his bicycle from the bike rack. The teen, Landon Cangiano, and his mother, Nicole, were heartbroken. The bike belonged to Landon's father, Vinny, who died from COVID-19 complications in 2021. Nicole Cangiano posted about the stolen bicycle on Facebook, hoping that someone would see it. Then, to her surprise, the post received more than 570 shares. A woman in the Melbourne community let Nicole Cangiano know that she saw the bike. That's when Landon and his swim coach, who he was with at the time, went looking for the bike. They were able to find it, and they called the Melbourne Police Department, who helped them safely get the bike back. What they're saying The Cangiano family is now feeling grateful to the community that helped them get the bike that means the world to them. "Just to see everybody come together, and they care about us, and they know our story, and it just feels so amazing," Nicole Cangiano said. Nicole Cangiano said the bike's worth in terms of money meant nothing. "It was all about the memories that we have with the bike," she said. "So, seeing it go full circle and how important that was to us, I don't even know what to say. It was just so special, and I really feel like maybe Vinny had a hand in this. So, we definitely feel like that, because even the police officer said this doesn't happen." The Brief A suspect has been taken into custody in Brevard County after deputies say he attempted to bomb a state radio tower. Deputies say the incident was isolated and not an act of terrorism. Officials are asking locals to avoid the area of Deering Parkway Road and use alternative routes while they investigate. BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. - A suspect has been taken into custody in Brevard County after deputies say he attempted to bomb a state radio tower. Officials say the incident was isolated and not an act of terrorism. What we know Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey said deputies responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle on Friday in the area of Deering Parkway Road. The vehicle was trying to pull away when deputies arrived at the scene. A number of units, including the bomb unit, were seen on Deering Parkway Road between Interstate 95 and U.S. 1. Ivey said the vehicle's driver told a story that "did not match what was going on," causing investigators to search the vehicle and discover an explosive device that the sheriff said was a possible pipe bomb. Ivey said the driver of the vehicle appeared to be angry over employment issues and planned to target one of the state radio towers. "The individual has made some statements about getting fired and things of that nature," Ivey said. Ivey said the incident was isolated and not an act of terrorism. He said the suspect is now in custody. What we don't know It is currently unclear what employment issues led up to the suspect attempting to target the radio tower with the explosive device. Officials have not yet released the identity of the suspect taken into custody. FOX 35 has reached out to investigators for more information on the incident. What's next Officials said Deering Parkway Road, between I-95 and U.S. 1, will continue to be closed for a few hours while the investigation continues. What you can do Authorities are asking locals to avoid the area of Deering Parkway Road and use alternative routes while they investigate. Jacksonville LGBTQ+ advocate ‘disgusted' by local Republican club Facebook post
LGBTQ+ advocates respond with outrage after a Facebook post from a local Republican group appeared to tie Pride Month to notorious criminals, including serial killers and sex offenders. The post, shared by the Mandarin Republican Club, included the caption: 'Happy Pride Month. So glad our Acosta Bridge was lit in their honor.' Below were images of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky, and a Georgia couple convicted of sexually assaulting their children. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< Also included in the post was a photo of Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan with Andrew Gillum, a former Florida gubernatorial candidate who was involved in a sex scandal but never faced any criminal charges. LGBTQ+ community leader James Eddy called the post offensive and hateful. 'In this day and age, people on Facebook feel like they can put anything,' Eddy said. [DOWNLOAD: Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks] 'It's sad that it came from the Republican Party.' Eddy said he 'really was disgusted… the fact that you associate Pride—because they said 'Happy Pride' in it—with pictures of like Jeffrey Dahmer.' The post appeared to criticize a peaceful protest where supporters lit up the Acosta Bridge with flashlights. That protest was in response to a state ban on lighting public structures in specific colors, which LGBTQ+ advocates believe targets Pride celebrations. 'You know, when something is taken away, you try to fight against it,' Eddy added. [SIGN UP: Action News Jax Daily Headlines Newsletter] After Action News Jax began asking questions, the post was deleted. The Duval County Republican Party responded with a statement: 'We did not push it out. We did not approve it. We did not sanction it.' Attempts to contact the head of the Mandarin Republican Club were unsuccessful. The mayor's office declined to comment. As of now, it is still unclear who within the Mandarin Republican Club was responsible for the post.
