Pakistan PM proposes Saudi Arabia as neutral venue for talks with India
ISLAMABAD — Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has proposed Saudi Arabia as a potential neutral venue for future dialogue between Pakistan and India, expressing hope for de-escalation between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
In a briefing to Pakistani media anchors at the PM House, Shehbaz said that ongoing communication between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries had calmed tensions, laying the groundwork for potential negotiations.
He confirmed that Pakistan's National Security Adviser would lead the country's delegation if talks proceed.
Responding to questions about third-party venues, the prime minister ruled out China as unacceptable to India and said Saudi Arabia might be a mutually agreeable location for dialogue.
He said any future talks would center on four core issues: Kashmir, water, trade, and terrorism.
In a separate revelation, Shehbaz also confirmed that he consulted with PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif before promoting Army Chief Gen. Syed Asim Munir to the symbolic rank of field marshal, calling it a "consulted decision" in line with his leadership's approach to key appointments.
On domestic matters, the prime minister presided over a meeting focused on affordable housing. He stressed the importance of low-cost housing initiatives to stimulate the economy and create jobs. The task force presented updates on the forthcoming Condominium Act 2025 and amendments to the Foreclosure Law, which are expected to ease access to housing loans. — Agencies

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday urged the nation to remember the people of Palestine suffering 'ruthless' occupation at the hands of Israel, state-run media reported, as millions of Pakistanis celebrated Eid Al-Adha. Eid Al-Adha is one of the two most important festivals of the Islamic calendar. Muslims mark the Eid Al-Adha holiday by slaughtering animals such as sheep and goats, and the meat is shared among family and friends and donated to the poor. The day began with Sharif and senior officials across the country offering Eid Al-Adha prayers in mosques and praying for Pakistan's progress and prosperity. 'He [Sharif] said today, we must especially remember our Palestinian brothers and sisters who are enduring ruthless and inhumane oppression and hunger,' state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported. The Pakistani premier's message comes as the Israeli military presses on with its intensified military campaign in Gaza, issuing an evacuation order for residents of parts of the city on Friday as the Middle East celebrated Eid Al-Adha. The Pakistani prime minister also urged the masses to remember the people in Indian-administered Kashmir, saying that they were involved in a 'just and courageous' struggle for their right to self-determination for decades. In his message to the nation, President Asif Ali Zardari said there was a pressing need to support the underprivileged and marginalized segments of our society. 'Asif Ali Zardari said as a nation, we must support each other, share in each other's sorrows, and work together to build a prosperous and great Pakistan,' Radio Pakistan reported. Pakistan Army's military leadership paid tribute to the 'unwavering resilience' of the Pakistani nation, recognizing the sacrifices of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and citizens who continue to uphold the security of the country. 'The Pakistan Armed Forces stand resolutely with the people, united in purpose and steadfast in their sacred duty to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country,' the Inter-Services Public Relations, the military's media wing, said.

Crown Prince lauds great efforts exerted to ensure comfort of pilgrims
Saudi Gazette Report MINA — On behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman received Eid Al-Adha well-wishers at the Royal Court of Mina Palace on Friday. The reception was attended by Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh, several princes, senior scholars and sheikhs, senior officials of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states, ministers, and the commanders of the military sectors and scouts participating in this year's Hajj. In a speech, the Crown Prince, on behalf of King Salman, congratulated the attendees as well as Saudi citizens, expatriates, and the Hajj pilgrims on the blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha. 'We implore God Almighty to return this blessed occasion to our nation and to Muslims around the world with continued goodness, prosperity, and peace. The continued success we witness today in serving pilgrims is the result of the efforts of our blessed state in serving the Two Holy Mosques, the holy sites, and their visitors,' he said while emphasizing that Saudi Arabia will continue exerting efforts to ensure comfort of the pilgrims. Mohammad Al-Bassami, director of Public Security and chairman of the Hajj Security Committee, delivered a speech on behalf of the military sectors participating in the Hajj. He highlighted the government's financial capabilities, human resources, and technical equipment to serve the pilgrims, paying the utmost attention to the Grand Mosque and its visitors. Al-Bassami said that a total of 213,323 personnel from the security and military sectors are participating in implementing the directives of the leadership to facilitate the performance of the Hajj rituals in safety and security, relying on the help of God and fortified by their professional capabilities, field experience, and knowledge gained from the Saudi Vision, led by the Crown Prince, making serving the pilgrims one of their most important priorities and noble goals. He pointed out that the successes achieved by the Hajj security plans to date are the result of the directives of King Salman and the unlimited support of the Crown Prince for the continuous improvement of service to the pilgrims. He highlighted the supervision and follow-up of the minister of interior and chairman of the Supreme Hajj Committee over the preparation and implementation of Hajj security plans, as well as the integration of roles among all participating entities. 'All plans are built on precise foundations and clear responsibilities, supported by an advanced operations center that plays a significant role in managing the security and service system. The center utilizes advanced technologies and modern surveillance systems, making immediate decisions through data analysis and risk assessment to ensure the security and safety of pilgrims,' he added.
