‘Spider-Man 2' extended edition is coming to theaters in 4K, along with original trilogy
The original 'Spider-Man' trilogy, directed by Sam Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire, is returning to the big screen with a special addition.
For the first time, 'Spider-Man 2.1' — the extended edition of 'Spider Man 2' — will be playing in theaters in 4K in a limited engagement presented by Fathom Entertainment. This version, released on DVD in 2007, features eight minutes of new footage, including a fan-favorite scene in which J. Jonah Jameson, played by J.K. Simmons, tries on the Spidey suit.
More than two decades and 10 Spider-Man movies after the original trilogy premiered, 'Spider-Man 2' consistently ranks among the best of the franchise by critics and fans. Starring alongside Maguire as Peter Parker (a.k.a. Spider-Man) are Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane 'MJ' Watson, James Franco as Harry Osborn and Alfred Molina as Dr. Otto Octavius.
'The success of 'Spider-Man' in 2002 helped launch the modern era of super hero films. To this day, Tobey Maguire's take on Spider-Man resonates across generations,' Fathom Entertainment's Chief Executive Ray Nutt said in a press release. 'At Fathom Entertainment, we celebrate fandom and I am delighted that 'Spider-Man 2.1' in 4K will make its theatrical debut, a true gift for longtime fans and a thrilling discovery for new ones.'
'Spider-Man' will play in theaters Sept. 26 and Oct. 3, 'Spider-Man 2.1' on Sept. 27 and Oct. 4, and 'Spider-Man 3' on Sept. 28 and Oct. 5. Tickets will be available at Fathom Entertainment and participating theaters July 25.
Other films soon returning to theaters with Fathom Entertainment are 'Clueless' (June 29-30), 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' (July 13-16) and 'The Sound of Music' (Sept. 13-17).

Kind Man's Persistent Attempt to Help Ducklings Escape From Pool Is Everything
Kind Man's Persistent Attempt to Help Ducklings Escape From Pool Is Everything originally appeared on PetHelpful. No matter whether kids walk on two legs or are furry or feathered, they have a knack for finding new adventures. Sometimes that curious nature can get them into hot water, much like a flock of ducklings who decided to take a dip in a swimming pool. Recently, @lindseykathleen1 shared a TikTok video featuring a few spirited ducklings who wanted to have a pool day. When mama dove in to collect them, she eventually realized she needed some help to get her family back on dry land. Luckily, a kind man stopped to offer an assist. Though, this wasn't a simple rescue. You'll say, 'Aw,' and laugh out loud as you watch his multiple attempts to help these ducklings escape the pool. I guess it's true: You can depend on the kindness of strangers! 'My sweet husband saved the day. I just love watching mommas do their thing. She was never giving up and knew when to let us help,' @lindseykathleen1 wrote in the TikTok post. As shown in the video, these duckling jumped into the pool, probably to cool off. Mama saw them and went after her flock, gathering them together so she could protect them. After all, who wouldn't want to keep an eye on their babies with strangers nearby? It seems like she was swimming around looking for ways to get them out of the pool. Thankfully, a man would find a way to help her family, but it would take a few tries to get them out first idea was to just pick up the ducklings one at a time and place them on the ground. Unfortunately, '[h]e would get one out and [they] would jump right back in,' explained the video captions. At one point, mama was pretty stressed. 'She was so tired and really started to panic,' mentions the video. That was until this man and his family came up with a plan B. They scooped up the ducklings individually and gathered them into an open tote bag. Then they grabbed mom and released this family back on land. Phew! Ducklings cannot get out of a pool easily, so them being in one can be dangerous or even deadly for them. According to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, ducks may not be able to fly out of a pool or make it over the ledge of a pool. They could even drown if they get tired or exhausted before finding their way out of the pool. That's why it's so heartwarming that this man and his family made sure to aid this family — no matter how many tries it took. I'm so glad these ducklings and their mom are safe! Tobey Maguire's 'Spider-Man' Trilogy Returns to Theaters With Rare Extended Cut
Tobey Maguire's 'Spider-Man' Trilogy Returns to Theaters With Rare Extended Cut originally appeared on Parade. If Tobey Maguire's surprise appearance in the MCU's Spider-Man: No Way Home is any indication, it's that fans haven't yet let go of their love for the famed iteration of New York City's resident wallcrawler. Starring in a grand total of three well-received superhero films from 2002 to 2007, Maguire handed in one of the earliest popular portrayals of Marvel's Spider-Man, setting a remarkably high bar for later actors like Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland. With the anniversary of the trilogy's conclusion looming on the horizon, fans can now rejoice at the possibility of seeing Maguire's Spider-Man series in theaters -- I.E., the optimal setting for experiencing Maguire's webslinger soaring through the streets of Manhattan. Beginning later this fall, all three films of director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man series will see a limited re-release to theaters nationwide. The exciting event begins with the screening of Spider-Man on September 26, followed by an extended cut of Spider-Man 2 on September 27 and Spider-Man 3 on September 28. Following these initial screening dates, the Spider-Man trilogy will promptly return for an encore presentation the following weekend, playing through from October 3 to October 5. If that weren't exciting enough, as mentioned above, this new retrospective of the Spider-Man trilogy will come with an extended cut of 2004's fan-favorite Spider-Man 2. Often hailed as the strongest entry in the trilogy (as well as one of the greatest superhero movies ever made), this new version of the film has been dubbed Spider-Man 2.1, with several scenes added back into the film that were originally left on the cutting room floor. "The success of Spider-Man in 2002 helped launch the modern era of superhero films," said Ray Nutt, chief executive officer of Fathom Entertainment, who will oversee screenings of the trilogy. "To this day, Tobey Maguire's take on Spider-Man resonates across generations. At Fathom Entertainment, we celebrate fandom and I am delighted that Spider-Man 2.1 in 4K will make its theatrical debut, a true gift for longtime fans and a thrilling discovery for new ones.' Tickets for the films go on sale on July 25.
