WATCH: WA mum left for dead after horror hit-and-run

Perth Now27-05-2025

Harrowing footage shows the moment a Rockingham mother was mowed down on her evening walk and left for dead.
The CCTV was released by the husband of the victim, Nicole Naughton, who wants people to see exactly what she endured.
It shows Ms Naughton walking her dog on Evinrude Bend about 5pm on May 18, when an SUV turns a corner and swerves onto the wrong side of the road.
At that point, Ms Naughton, who was just metres from home, is mowed down, sent sliding down into the dirt.
She was critically injured — and the Nissan X-Trail doesn't stop.
Ms Naughton, 58, was left alone for ten minutes before police arrive.
A couple of minutes later, an ambulance arrives.

She had 12 broken ribs. Her only saving grace was that her skull was spared.
But the mother's face has been stitched back together.
Jye Cooper, 36, has been charged over the incident. Crash investigators allege he had alcohol and drugs in his system. CCTV of the moment Nicole was mowed down and left for dead in a hit and run in Rockingham. Credit: 7NEWS / 7NEWS
He is facing charges of failing to stop and rendering assistance after an incident causing grievous bodily harm, failing to report the incident and dangerous driving occasioning bodily harm under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
He will be back before a magistrate in July.
In the meantime, Ms Naughton faces more surgeries and rehabilitation.

‘Kind and gentle': Man dead after alleged drunken e-scooter incident

A man beloved by his community has died after a tragic e-bike incident on Saturday evening. Thanh Phan, 51, took a trip into the Perth CBD for dinner, but was struck by an e-scooter at the interception of Murray and King street. The e-scooter rider is a woman who police allege was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Mr Phan was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for surgery, where he remained in a critical condition before he died on Tuesday. The 51-year-old from Menora had built a loving community in his neighbourhood, with friends of the engineer expressing their condolences. 'On Saturday night, Thanh Phan – a beloved husband, father of two, brother, and dear friend – was struck by an electric scooter and critically injured,' the family said in a statement. 'Yesterday evening, we received the heartbreaking news that Thanh passed away as a result of his injuries. 'We ask that the media respect the privacy of Thanh's family as they grieve their loss. 'We also call for a review of the governance and safety regulations surrounding hired e-scooters to help prevent further serious incidents that put lives at risk. 'The family has no other comment to make on the issue at this time.' Alicia Kemp, 24, is alleged by police to be riding the e-scooter under the influence of alcohol with a 26-year-old passenger, before she hit Mr Phan. The passenger was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Ms Kemp is set to reappear in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday after being charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm – under the influence of alcohol, and dangerous driving causing bodily harm – under the influence of alcohol.

Photo of Pheobe Bishop's housemate reportedly spotted on popular app

An undated profile with a photo of the housemate of missing teenager Pheobe Bishop has reportedly been seen on the popular dating app Tinder. Daily Mail Australia reported a profile purporting to be of Wood was seen on Tinder, with an undated photo of himself listed as looking for 'short-term fun' on the site. Wood is wearing aviator sunglasses and a cowboy hat in the photo, along with a high vis polo top. Wood shared a dilapidated home in the small town of Gin Gin, about 50km from Bundaberg, with Bishop and his current girlfriend, Tanika Bromley. The Gin Gin property and Tanika Bromley's grey Hyundai ix35 were both declared a crime scene following the disappearance. However, the vehicle has since been returned back to Bromley. A photo of Pheobe Bishop's housemate James Wood has been seen attached to a Tinder profile. Credit: Tinder 7NEWS is not suggesting Wood or Bromley are involved in the disappearance of Bishop. Police have repeatedly said both parties have been co-operative in the investigation. Bishop was last seen about 8.30am on May 15 at Airport Dr in Bundaberg, Queensland. The teenager was planning to fly to Perth to spend time with a boyfriend, prior to her going missing. The housemates told police they dropped the teenager to Bundaberg Airport. However, Pheobe failed to check in for her flight and no CCTV footage of her has emerged. Pheobe Bishop was last seen near Bundaberg's airport in southern Queensland. Credit: AAP Just days ago, Pheobe's mother, Kylie Johnson, released a heartbreaking statement asking for her daughter back. However, the distraught mother has had to deal with trolling after uploading the clip. 'I'm sorry that I'm currently an emotional wreck, trying to protect our other children from the media and the trolls, trying to continue to breathe while your world shatters around you!' Johnson said. 'People wanted a statement, they got one yet still question me as a mother?' Johnson posted afterwards. 'If anyone would like to be in this position please step in and show me how to do this? Show me what a perfect parent looks like. 'Show me how to navigate this? Show me how to deal with the unknown and the uncertainty? Show me how to use perfect language and emotion in a situation that no parent ever wants to be in.' Police, firefighters, SES crews have all been involved in the search for the teenager, near Good Night National Park, where they have deployed drones to scan dense scrub and creek beds. The search was called off last week. Pheobe is described as being 180cm, pale complexion, long dyed red hair, and hazel eyes.
