DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man who owns several Domino's locations across the Miami Valley recently received national recognition within the company.
Chris Schlater, franchise owner of Domino's, was awarded the 2025 Gold Franny Award, the most prestigious award which a Dominos franchise owner can receive.
The award is based on ratings of the following topics:
Community involvement
Operational audit scores
Store safety and security
Team member morale
The chain said Schlater's locations gives back to the community through engaging with student groups and organizations at the University of Dayton, provides meals to first responders and supports local nonprofit organizations.
Schlater said the company has provided him the chance to grow professionally, while making a positive impact on others around him. He began his career with the company in 1999 as a customer service representative.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Thursday saw a local service organization unveil a tangible symbol of peace. The Centerville Rotary Club' 'Peace Pole' is now on display at Grant Park's Kennard Nature Nook. The pole is inscribed with a phrase written in nine languages: 'May Peace Prevail on Earth,' an expression of peace on a local and global scale. 'Concert for Peace' unites two iconic orchestras Leaders with the rotary club say that peace is apart of their mission and something that the world needs right now. 'Wanted to make it visible and attractive for folks to come,' said Kelly McDonald, the club's vice president. 'It's a place where educators can bring students to talk about peace. We use the language of tolerance for our community to make it welcoming to everyone, and if there's one thing the world needs more of now it's peace.' 24-year-old dies after rollover crash

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A Sidney woman is dead after a crash on Thursday afternoon. According to our partners at the Sidney Daily News, the crash occurred around 2:42 p.m. on I-75, near mile marker 178, in Bowling Green. According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the driver of a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer was traveling north on the roadway and lost control of the vehicle, causing it to swerve to the right of the interstate and roll repeatedly. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Makayla Lee, 24, was ejected from the vehicle. The initial investigation determined that Lee was not wearing a seatbelt. OSP issues over 2,600 citations for seat belt violations

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released its results from participating in the 6-State Trooper Project. According to OSP, troopers issued 2,631 citations for safety belt violations from May 19 through 26. OSP troopers also reportedly issued 83 additional citations for alleged violations related to child safety seats. Across Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia, law enforcement reportedly issued a total of 6,863 citations during the time frame. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
