UK's Eurovision entry Remember Monday had huge TV appearance almost everyone forgot about
Remember Monday will be representing the UK at Eurovision 2025 with their song What The Hell Just Happened? but the trio actually had a huge TV appearance before the show
March's announcement of the UK's 2025 Eurovision entry was met with a surge of relief and enthusiasm as country-pop girl band Remember Monday were unveiled as Britain's hopefuls. The trio, united by their friendship, are prepped to showcase their tune What The Hell Just Happened? in the upcoming musical showdown at Basel, Switzerland come May.
Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull, and Charlotte Steele, who bonded over shared performing arts classes at Farnborough College, have been inseparable since forming the group in 2013 and have supported each other through milestones, including Holly-Anne's wedding last year where Lauren and Charlotte served as bridesmaids.
With a wealth of experience in musical theatre, the band members have graced West End stages, with Holly performing in Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera, Charlotte taking part in Mary Poppins and Lauren appearing in productions like Matilda and SIX The Musical, reports Surrey Live.
Facing competition from 36 nations, Remember Monday is set to be the first all-female ensemble to fly the flag for the UK since 1999. Self-dubbed "pop girlies with a little bit of yeehaw", they said: "We're going to be the first girlband to represent the UK since 1999, which feels like such a crazy honour.
"We're going to bring loads of fun, energy and hopefully do something that you won't have seen before on the Eurovision stage." However, what might surprise fans is that the trio previously appeared on a major televised singing competition, reaching the quarter finals of the show.
The country-pop group competed in series eight of The Voice UK, impressing judges with their rendition of Seal's Kiss From A Rose during the blind auditions, which earned them a four-chair turn and quickly went viral. They later showcased their original song, Jailbreaker, during The Knockouts, stunning viewers with their talent and creativity.
Although Molly Hocking ultimately won The Voice UK in 2019, Remember Monday left a lasting impact on the judges and audience alike.
Their stint on the show sparked widespread enthusiasm, with one fan taking to X (formerly Twitter) to express their admiration: "I would love to see #remembermonday win @BBCTheVoiceUK #TheVoiceUK they are refreshing and fantastic !
"Gotta love a lil Country music!" One social media user commented: "Remember Monday performing their own song and smashing it, love the combination of original song and their talent, no expectations or preconceptions to overcome.
"Love it. #TheVoiceUK," while another praised the musical trio, stating: "Remember Monday singing their own song, not hiding behind someone else's success but blazing their own trail. Brilliant #TheVoiceUK".
Following their rendition of Jailbreak, several fans of the show voiced their approval on social media, with one individual inquiring: "@remembermonday_ when can I download Jailbreaker? ! Absolutely smashed it - loved this song so much and I wish people made more music like this #TheVoiceUK".
Yet another fan expressed enthusiasm: "An original song, and a blinding one at that. Cheers for sharing it with us, Remember Monday. #TheVoiceUK".
Remember Monday has recently disclosed their most extensive tour thus far, planning to hit stages in 16 different cities throughout England, Wales, Ireland, and Scotland.
Eurovision 2025 is slated for May 13 to 17, kicking off with the first semi-final on the 13th, followed by the second semi-final on the 15th, and culminating with the grand finale on May 17.
The St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, chosen as the venue for the events, boasts a seating capacity of 12,400. Fans eager to see Remember Monday live should note that Eurovision Song Contest 2025 will be aired on BBC One and available for streaming via BBC iPlayer.

Channel 4 viewers say unique sci-fi drama compared to Black Mirror 'has to become a series'
One viewer called the drama a little miracle Channel 4's latest venture into YouTube drama has been received with mixed feelings, branded as a vexing iteration of Black Mirror but with a 'preposterous twist'. Entitled BETH, it marks the broadcaster's debut digital original series. As of yesterday (June 9), viewers have had the opportunity to delve into the narrative through various mediums. Audiences can access the drama via Channel 4's own streaming service, divided into three bite-sized episodes ranging from a mere 7 minutes to a modest 16 minutes each. Alternatively, the whole piece is assembled into one single episode for free on YouTube, delivering a succinct total run-time of 35 minutes. Given these concise formats, it's perhaps not a shock that the mind behind the project, writer and director Uzo Oleh, has previously confined his filmography to short films. In the leading roles are Nicholas Pinnock – set to feature in Long Bright River – and Australian model Abbey Lee, reports Surrey Live. They portray Joe and Molly, a couple flourishing in success whose long-held aspiration to parent a child eventually materialises; however, their joyous event turns their lives upside down. As Joe discovers a shocking truth, he grapples with the dilemma of safeguarding his family or disclosing his findings to the world. Although BETH has just started making its rounds among audiences, early critiques and feedback are beginning to surface. Notably, a review by The Guardian was less than flattering, labelling BETH as "a frustratingly unfinished Black Mirror." They continue to critique: "Channel 4's first YouTube show about a couple's IVF woes looks stylish, but at just three 15-minute films, it feels wildly rushed. TV this brief needs to be perfectly formed .... and this is far from it." They further comment: "Beth is a very stylish and confidently directed piece, with fine performances throughout – especially from Pinnock, though he also benefits from having the most to do. But the script needs to be tighter and work harder so that we aren't left feeling as if we've just watched the beginning of a Black Mirror episode." In another review, The Independent pans the finale as 'preposterous', skipping detailed spoilers: "I won't go into spoilery details here, but there's a ginormous twist, which is not only poorly executed, but actual pay-off is pants. I'm no doctor, but I'd say there's a six per cent chance of it inspiring awe." Nevertheless, they manage to recommend the show, saying: "But you should still check out Beth because, when it's good, it's a little miracle." The sentiment of value for the viewing time wasn't lost on others either, especially given its concise format. On social media, one audience member expressed: "It's great to see Channel 4 breaking new ground by commissioning digital dramas. Beth is a meditative and delicately told story by Uzo Oleh of a couple's attempt to conceive." Another viewer expressed their desire for the digital drama to be a precursor to something bigger. Commenting on the show's YouTube channel, they enthused: "Amazing Brother...I love it. This has to become a series".

Netflix fans keep watching 'amazing new take on a classic' despite low rating
Fans have been singing its praises despite initial reviews Netflix viewers can't stop watching a 'must see film' that offers a fresh spin on a classic tale. The 2018 release, Robin Hood, has surprisingly become one of the most viewed titles on the platform, despite a meagre 14% rating. At the time of writing, it currently sits in second place in the top ten films most watched by subscribers in the UK. It's sandwiched between recent releases Tyler Perry's Straw in the top spot and French action thriller K.O. in third. Robin Hood is a radical reinterpretation of the timeless story of the outlaw who robbed from the rich to give to the poor. In this version, Taron Egerton, known for his roles in Kingsman, Rocketman and Carry-On, portrays Lord Robin of Loxley. He seeks revenge after returning from the Third Crusade to discover that the corrupt Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Rogue One's Ben Mendelsohn, has declared him dead and seized all his property, reports Surrey Live. According to Empire's review of the film, Robin's journey mirrors that of Bruce Wayne becoming Batman. Egerton's rendition of the character even starts being referred to as 'The Hood'. He is trained by Jamie Foxx's character Yahya or John. Meanwhile, Robin also attempts to win back his girlfriend Marian, played by Eve Hewson, who later starred in Netflix's The Perfect Couple. Marian is now with another man, Will Scarlet, portrayed by Jamie Dornan, who is actually a member of the Merry Men in the original tales. Despite the somewhat tepid critical reception of the film, Netflix audiences have found reasons to be entertained. One admirer took to the internet to express their thoughts, stating: "This is a must see movie. Its a new take and twist of the classic tale of Robin Hood and breathes life into the legend once again. It might not be the most historically accurate remake of the tale but that is part of its charm." They pressed on, saying: "Solid stunts and despite all the hate the movie has endured none can question the hard work and love the whole cast and crew put into it. Their extraordinary archery skills are way beyond just CGI. In fact they were trained by famous archer Lars Anderson and can more than handle themselves around a bow and arrow." Another enthusiast commented: "I thought this film was incredible. An amazing new take on a classic. The immense number of Robin Hood films were starting to repeat one another and it was frankly getting tired, but this brought the movies back alive for younger audiences that perhaps haven't been too engaged in the previous versions. With a brilliant cast, some of which are popular, well known actors, and others who are rising stars, I think the production is incredible." One person even suggested: "Outside of the legendary (Disney) cartoon, this is the best Robin Hood out there." Meanwhile, another voiced a congruent opinion: "It was so much better than expected. It was a different take on the old Robin Hood movies." However, not all viewers were impressed. One disgruntled film-goer echoed the critics' sentiments, stating: "Everything was just as bad as the trailer promised. Don't watch this unwatchable piece of garbage. It will haunt your eyes forever."

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Whether you're a royal enthusiast or simply fancy being whisked away into the intrigues of bygone eras, this captivating series seriously has viewers glued to their screens. Victoria is a sumptuous British period drama that showcases Jenna Coleman in the role of Queen Victoria through the tumultuous early stages of her monarchy over the United Kingdom. With three thrilling seasons available since its premiere in 2016, addicts of the programme are likening it to Netflix's internationally acclaimed The Crown. An ecstatic critique on Rotten Tomatoes proclaims: "Just like The Crown covers Queen Elizabeth II's life throughout her reign, this series covers Queen Victoria's. It almost looks like they are twin series full of drama, romance, politics and good historical accuracy." Commencing with Victoria's dramatic ascension to the throne at just 18, the initial season presents a dramatised exploration of her young life, including her fascination with Lord Melbourne and her precocious marriage to Prince Albert. Additionally, it delves into the arrival of her firstborn and successor, Princess Victoria. Progressing through the series, aficionados witness the young monarch's evolution into the formidable sovereign history remembers, as she wrestles with balancing her duties as a wife and mother. Not only does the narrative engross fans in personal turmoil, but it also encapsulates major historical events such as the Anglo-Afghan War calamity and the devastation of the famine in Ireland, reports Surrey Live. A viewer praised the historical drama, saying: "This show is so beautiful! The costumes and sets are designed with no detail left untouched. "The episode where they visit France was my favourite. All the actors are well suited for this show, and I like the balance between the royals and the staff." Portraying notable historical figures on screen often leads to scrutiny, yet viewers appear unanimous in their acclaim for Jenna Coleman's depiction of the 19th-century sovereign. Tom Hughes, starring as Prince Albert, fortified his reputation with this role, while also being recognised for performances in Cemetery Junction, Red Joan, and The English. Praising the cast further, a review comments: "Jenna Coleman is delightful as Queen Victoria, giving her a strong and decided personality, with endearing moments of self-doubt and vulnerability," adding that "The story progresses at an adequate pace; it never feels slow or that it's keeping pace, as period dramas sometimes do. "The supporting cast is wonderful, and Albert was perfectly cast, as the actor beautifully conveys the chemistry and respect he feels for Victoria." After wrapping up three successful runs, the last instalment of the drama graced screens in May 2019, leaving fans thrilled to find the entire series now available on Netflix. ITV previously announced, "There are no plans presently to film Victoria, but that's not to say we won't revisit the series with the production team at a later date."
