Philadelphia Eagles rookie Cooper DeJean helped his team win the 2025 Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans last night on his 22nd birthday.
His girlfriend Steph Wilfawn, a dermatology technician, was front and center inside Caesars Superdome for the NFL cornerback's star performance last night, including a major interception and a 38-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
On her Instagram Story, the proud girlfriend posted a childhood picture of DeJean before a video of his touchdown with the caption: 'Happy Birthday @cooperdejean.'
The punt returner brought the score up to 17-0 when he caught Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes' pass meant for his wide receiver and ran straight down the sidelines.
Only a short while ago, DeJean was playing college football at the University of Iowa. The young athlete was picked by the Eagles in the second round of the 2024 NFL draft.
DeJean and Wilfawn reportedly met as Hawkeyes in Johnson County, Iowa. For the past few months, Wilfawn hasn't been shy about sharing her relationship with the professional football player online, posting pictures and videos of her attending his games in Philadelphia.
For the Super Bowl, DeJean's girlfriend wore a custom sheer, black long-sleeved shirt with his jersey number '33' stitched in orange on the back, mini leather shorts, and baggy brown boots. Both her shoes and top were from the brand It's Sew Tyler.
'GAME DAY!!' she wrote next to a TikTok video of her dressed up and ready to go watch her man play in the biggest game of his career thus far.
Love and support from the Eagles team's family, friends, and fans was rife after the championship match.
Head coach Nick Sirianni was nearly speechless amid all the chaos of the Eagles' celebration. However, he honored the feat with his wife Brett Ashley Cantwell and their two sons — Jacob, nine, and Miles, four — who were all present at the game.
A heartwarming moment between the close-knit family occurred during Sirianni's postgame interview with Fox News. The coach was seen kissing Cantwell and squeezing Jacob before lifting his younger son on his hip.
'It worked,' Miles told his father as they cheered: 'E-A-G-L-E-S.'
Bradley Cooper's moment with Eagles superfan Declan LeBaron at the start of the game was another tear-jerker from the night. This is what happens when a team does the bare minimum at quarterback. No boldness to move up in the draft, or to find anyone who is more than a Band-Aid or a lottery ticket. Drafting Kenny Pickett when he falls to you with the 20th pick isn't a bold move. Yes, it's hard finding a franchise QB, and the Steelers should be commended for always being competitive enough to never pick in the top 10. That doesn't excuse their inability to find a follow-up to Roethlisberger. The Patriots drafted Instead, the Steelers have sat back and let the universe plop a quarterback in their lap for five years. They'll have to do it again next offseason, unless they finally get bold and make a big move. Aaron Rodgers is another patch on a long-term issue for the Steelers. Under pressure Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald is correct that it's 'crazy' to think Sam Darnold could lose the starting job before Week 1. Injuries are one thing, but the Seahawks signed Darnold to a three-year contract worth a maximum of $115.5 million for a reason. It's hard seeing any scenario in which backups Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe beat Darnold out in training camp. 'I respect that you've got to ask it, but it's just a crazy question,' Macdonald said on 710-AM after Darnold threw a couple of picks in OTAs. 'Sam's our starting quarterback. We love him. He's doing a tremendous job.' That doesn't mean Darnold is guaranteed to finish the season. His contract is really just one year guaranteed for $37.5 million. His 2026 season, worth $27.5 million, is guaranteed for injury only and doesn't become fully guaranteed until the fifth day of the league year next March. His 2027 season ($35.5 million) has no guarantees. Realistically, Darnold has through November to prove that he's worth the investment for 2026. If he doesn't, the Seahawks easily could bench him down the stretch and release him next March without owing him another dime. A lot will likely depend on the progress of Milroe, a third-round pick who has tremendous physical tools but is raw as a passer. Not playing for money Derek Carr made almost $200 million in on-field earnings over his 11-year NFL career, so he's not exactly hurting for money. He Still, few people would have made the decision Carr did, which was to forgo the $30 million in salary this year he was contractually entitled to. Carr officially hit the retired list last week as he deals with a shoulder injury. 'I didn't want to have surgery and just sit there and — it sounds crazy but — just take the Saints money,' Carr is only 34 and should have several years of football left if he gets his shoulder fixed, but told his agent recently that he's done. 'I sent him a picture of me on the beach with my two kids playing. And I said, 'This beats an OTA any day,' ' he said. That's fair, but few players ever say they miss June practices. Let's see how Carr feels come September, when Extra points Yes, spring OTAs are voluntary. Players aren't wearing pads, and the practices are meant more for teaching than pure competition. New $3 million addition could put Cowboys ahead of curve in revolutionizing red-zone play
It's not common practice to develop a specialist role for a key position such as quarterback in today's NFL. A starter is a starter and removing said player tips off intensions and frankly comes off as a little disrespectful. For the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott, replacing the QB in select goal-line packages could be seen as both, even if it seems like a smart course of action for all parties involved. The Cowboys touchdown scoring percentage in the red zone was just 46 percent in 2024. That was second to last in the NFL, ranking only above the lowly Giants. The Cowboys' inability to get into the endzone was a season-long issue, dating back before Prescott's season-ending injury. It left points on the board and ultimately demoralized an already fragile unit. Advertisement Prescott is scheduled to return in 2025 with a full bill of health. In previous seasons, he's been an assassin from the red zone, guiding the Cowboys to a No. 12 ranking in 2023 and to No. 1 overall ranking in 2022. Given his past proficiency, it's not preposterous to think he can bounce back to those levels again in 2025, but is the risk worth it? A major part of Prescott's redzone efficiency lies in his ability to run the ball. As a ball carrier Prescott operated at a 0.40 EPA/play with a 100 percent success rate on two attempts in 2024. The season before he was at 0.16 EPA/play with a 71.43% success rate on 14 attempts. QBs are universally a highly efficient rushing option from the red zone; the only downside is such plays open them up to hits and potential injury. The Cowboys can ill afford to suffer and injury of Prescott's magnitude so alternatives need to be explored. Prescott, 32, is the highest paid player in the NFL and an irreplaceable part on the Cowboys' machine. He's not injury prone, per say, but having missed five or more games in three of the last five seasons, he's not exactly made of metal either. Using him as a runner might be more risk than the Cowboys want to take on and finding a replacement option may not be as crazy as it sounds when all factors are under consideration. After adding Joe Milton in an offseason trade, the Cowboys have an intriguing option as a situational replacement to Prescott. The highly gifted, yet severely underdeveloped, quarterback prospect is sure to drive headlines throughout the summer with dazzling throws and highlight runs. Milton, who has three years and $3 million remaining on his rookie deal, could be the answer in the red zone based on his skillset and dispensability. If Prescott gets hurt tucking and running the season might be over for the Cowboys. If Milton gets hurt running the rock, it's unlikely to have any impact on the success or failure of the season, and the financial investment in him is already minimal. At 6-foot-5, 246-pounds, Milton is built for the part. Coming from an RPO-rich offense in college, Milton is an ideal dual-threat inside the redzone. His reads downfield and accuracy as a passer leave something to be desired, but if cast into zone-read role where he can either handoff or run it himself, he offers something Prescott does not. Incorporating a single read as a passer is a great way to take that zone-read attack into a simple, but multifaceted, RPO. Advertisement Once upon a time the idea of having a dedicated closer in baseball seemed absurd. It wasn't until the late 1970s when teams started to designate specialists and from there it took years before it became the norm. In much the same way an occasional red-zone specialist could be normalized on early downs in the NFL. For teams with veteran QBs who are too important to risk and somewhat susceptible to injury, bringing in a dual-threat QB on early downs (non-obvious passing downs) could be a great way to take advantage of the game's highest leverage situations. QB runs are an important part of an efficient redzone offense but with a QB1 who's too important to risk, situational alternatives should be explored. Can Milton be that alternative?
