What to watch on Netflix Canada: New TV shows and movies, plus what's being removed in April 2025
It's another month of big changes on Netflix, with Canadians set to see a lot of beloved TV shows and movies leaving the streaming site. While April also marks the return of some favourites for new season, like Black Mirror Season 7 and the final season of You.
There are also some brand new shows joining Netflix, like the upcoming medical drama Pulse. And let's not forget the Canadian show North of North, starring True Detective's Anna Lambe.
With The Accountant 2 coming to theatres on April 25, Netflix subscribers in Canada hoping to catch up on the original film don't have much time, with The Accountant being removed from Netflix at the beginning of the month.
Additionally, The Matrix is being removed on at the same time, along with Edgar Wright's Shaun of the Dead and the 2016 movie Suicide Squad.
Two movies starring Tom Hanks are also leaving Netflix, Saving Private Ryan and Sully.
If you're more of a comedy fan, Jim Carrey's The Mask is being removed from the streaming site in April, along with Pineapple Express and the Amanda Bynes movie Sydney White.
For rom-coms, The Ugly Truth with Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler won't be on Netflix anymore, in addition to Something's Gotta Give starring Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton.

The medical drama genre has certainly been reinvigorated recently with the immense popularity of the series The Pitt, and the release of the show Doc, but Netflix is taking that momentum and running with it for Pulse.
Created by Zoe Robyn, who also serves as co-showrunner with Carlton Cuse, the series is set in Miami's busiest Level 1 Trauma Center during a hurricane. Dr. Danielle 'Danny' Simms (Willa Fitzgerald) is a third-year resident, trying to cope with the stress of the emergency room, and relationships with her coworkers.
A Nunavut-set comedy is a particularly highly-anticipated show next month, starring Anna Lambe as young Inuk woman, Siaja, trying to move on from her marriage publicly coming to an end. A difficult task in such a small, close-knit community.
'When we see Siaja in the beginning of the season, she's quite frantic and insecure,' Lambe told Netflix. 'We see her make some large and life-changing decisions that cause her to fall flat on her face in front of her entire community and force her to reevaluate her life and try to make it better.'
The fan-favourite anthology series Black Mirror is back for Season 7, with six episodes.
The cast includes Peter Capaldi, Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones, Chris O'Dowd, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jimmi Simpson, Issa Rae, Awkwafina and Will Poulter.
'Fans of the show will recognize the cast of a certain spaceship from one of our episodes reappearing,' Charlie Brooker teased to Netflix's Tudum. 'We've done a sequel for the first time in Black Mirror history. Normally, I kill off all the characters at the end of an episode, [but] I kept some of 'em alive. I'm growing as a human.'
We're about to head into the final season of the beloved Netflix show You, putting an end to Joe Goldberg's disturbing tale, picking up three years after Joe and Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) left London for New York City.
In this season Joe's (Penn Badgley) past comes back to haunt him in the U.S. city.
'We always said that we would stop after five and [that], in a perfect world, we would bring Joe back home to New York,' co-showrunner and executive producers Michael Foley told Netflix's Tudum. 'We loved the idea of things coming full circle for him. We're excited by the fact that Joe came home as such a different person than [who] we saw in Season 1. At the core of our final story for Joe is this dichotomy of the old and the new.'

Dave Chappelle Reflects On 2016 Trump ‘SNL' Speech
Source: Arturo Holmes / Getty For comedian Dave Chappelle, the opening monologue he gave as the host of Saturday Night Live after the 2016 presidential election isn't something he regrets. He had the chance to reflect on it during a conversation with comedian Mo Amer for the Actors on Actors series for Variety. 'I haven't watched it in a while, but I remember it fondly,' Chappelle said at the 27-minute mark of the conversation, which was shared Wednesday (June 4) after Amer asked him about his perspective on it from back then to now. The monologue went viral, as Chappelle declared that 'an internet troll' had won the White House, also pointing out his history of sexual assault. He would then segue into how he felt after former President Barack Obama won in 2008. 'And it made me very happy about the prospects of our country,' he said then. 'So, in that spirit, I'm wishing Donald Trump luck. And I'm going to give him a chance. And we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he give us one, too.''Oh, I remember that part,' Chappelle said. 'You know what? I look at it like a photograph. That's what it felt like in that moment. Now, if it ages well or not, I don't get mad if I look at a picture because it's not today. That's what it was at that time.' He continued, 'You might look at an old set and cringe, but you could just cringe because of how you were at that time. And in that sense, I'm fine with it.' Chappelle's conversation with Amer is one of the rare moments he's opened up for media – he has declined direct interviews in the wake of brushback from jokes he made against the transgender community in his 2021 Netflix special The Closer . But he and the Palestinian comedian bonded during the COVID-19 pandemic, making this a keen opportunity for the two to talk about comedy and their perspectives on the current times particularly with Amer's hit Netflix show. 'As you know, I notoriously don't like to do press,' Chappelle said, 'but today I wouldn't have missed, because it's you.' Check out the entire conversation above. One of the BBC's best known TV chefs has announced that her cookery show has been cancelled by the broadcaster. And for me, that was a huge turning point because it's something I've done for the past 10 years. 'I was already on this steady trajectory of change and I was thinking about where I wanted my career to go, and when the BBC decided they didn't want to commission the show anymore, it really did kind of solidify everything for me, and it made me dig my heels in and think 'OK, I know where I want to be'.' BBC News website quotes a spokesperson for the broadcaster confirming: 'After several wonderful series we have made the difficult decision not to commission another cookery show with Nadiya Hussain at the moment.' The statement continued: 'Nadiya remains a much-valued part of the BBC family, and we look forward to working together on future projects.' Hussain's other series for the BBC have included Nadiya's Everyday Baking and Nadiya's Cook Once Eat Twice, as well as the documentary Nadiya: Anxiety and Me. Since her victory on The Great British Bake Off in 2015, Hussain has become one of the UK's most familiar cooking figures, including baking a cake to celebrate HM The Queen's 90th birthday, and writing books alongside her TV work. In the video she posted where she outlined difficulties of being a Muslim woman on screen, Hussain said she was moving in a 'positive direction', adding: 'I'm working on some new things, but for me it's about being my most authentic self, and working with people who believe my voice has a platform, and believing in my talent.' NEWS OF THE WEEK: Jamie Foxx has brutally lashed out at Sean 'Diddy' Combs while delivering a stand-up routine
The 57-year-old Hollywood star has berated 55-year-old Combs amid his ongoing sex trafficking trial - while the pair are known to have tension between them. Appearing at Netflix's All-Star Comedy Night last week, Foxx ruthlessly mocked Combs over his ongoing trial and the lurid alleged details of his sex life that have emerged since the singer was arrested last September. Foxx said, per the New York Post, "That Diddy s**t is crazy, huh? I don't know if he's going to jail, but he's a nasty motherf**ker.'
