Alabama basketball 2025-26 roster, transfer portal offseason tracker
Coming off the program's second consecutive Elite Eight appearance, there is no denying that this offseason will be an important one for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Having made the NCAA Tournament each of last five seasons under head coach Nate Oats, the Crimson Tide will be only two seasons removed from the program's first-ever Final Four appearance, and will be tasked with replacing a few significant pieces from this past year's team. Some of those names were also prominent players on that Final Four team as well, and leave behind big holes on the roster that will need to be filled in order to make Alabama a contender once again next season.
Even despite those question marks however, Alabama's roster is already set to be loaded once again next season, with the Crimson Tide also set to likely continuing adding to that group this offseason via the transfer portal.
A post that will be updated throughout the offseason, here is a tracker of Alabama's action in the transfer portal, as well as the Crimson Tide's 2025-26 roster outlook overall.
This post is current as of Friday, April 4.
Alabama Basketball Transfer Portal Departures
Mouhamed Dioubate, Forward
Naas Cunningham, Forward
At the moment, Alabama has had only two players enter the transfer portal in Dioubate and Cunningham, the former of which appeared in 37 games off the Crimson Tide's bench this past year to average 7.2 points and 5.9 rebounds on 61.7% shooting from the field, as well as 46.2% (12-of-26) from three. Cunningham, a former Top 50 recruit, did not play during the 2024-25 season as a freshman due to a redshirt.
Alabama Basketball Transfer Portal Additions
Noah Williamson, Center - Transferred from Bucknell
Taylor Bol Bowen, Forward - Transferred from Florida State
Alabama has so far added a pair of frontcourt players through the transfer portal in Williamson and Bol Bowen, the former of which was the 2024-25 Patriot League Player of the Year. Bol Bowen had a breakout season at Florida State, and is also likely to play a key role for Alabama next year.

Grant Nelson, Forward - Graduation
Chris Youngblood, Guard - Graduation
Clifford Omoruyi, Center - Graduation
Max Scharnowski, Forward - Graduation

Alabama Basketball Roster Additions

Alabama is currently set to bring in five total players this offseason, which includes two from the transfer portal in Williamson and Bol Bowen from Bucknell and Florida State, respectively. The Crimson Tide also have three freshmen set to come to Tuscaloosa next season in Jemison, Hannah, and Allen.

As mentioned previously, Alabama is set to lose at-least four starters from the 2024-25 season, and that total could potentially rise to five depending on the NBA draft decision of Labaron Philon. As for the starting lineup, Philon will likely feature alongside newcomers in Williamson and Bol Bowen, with Wrightsell and Reid also projected starters should they return.

College Football Playoff to tweak the way it evaluates teams during the 2025 season
The College Football Playoff says it's making some changes to the way it evaluates teams during the 2025 college football season. The playoff announced Wednesday that it was making 'enhancements to the tools that the selection committee uses to assess schedule strength and how teams perform against their schedule. The changes come after 9-3 Alabama was the first team left out of the playoff and ended the season ranked ahead of 10-2 Miami. 'The current schedule strength metric has been adjusted to apply greater weight to games against strong opponents,' the playoff's release said. 'An additional metric, record strength, has been added to the selection committee's analysis to go beyond a team's schedule strength to assess how a team performed against that schedule. This metric rewards teams defeating high-quality opponents while minimizing the penalty for losing to such a team. Conversely, these changes will provide minimal reward for defeating a lower-quality opponent while imposing a greater penalty for losing to such a team.' Based on the paragraph above, we're not sure if the playoff committee would have changed the way it ranked anyone in the top 15 a year ago. Though the Crimson Tide beat Georgia, Missouri and LSU, two of its losses were to teams that finished the regular season at 6-6. Alabama's third loss came by 21 points to Oklahoma in the penultimate week of the season. Miami, meanwhile, lost on the road to a 7-5 Georgia Tech team and a 9-3 Syracuse team. The Hurricanes didn't have any wins over teams who were ranked at the time of those games, though Louisville and Duke finished the season at 9-4. The CFP also said that it wouldn't make a rule prohibiting teams' rankings from changing ahead of the final set of rankings if those teams are not playing on conference championship weekend. 'The selection committee reaffirmed that movement in the final week should be evidence-based and did not recommend creating a formal policy prohibiting such movement,' the playoff said. The first set of playoff rankings will be released on Tuesday, Nov. 4 and there will be five sets of rankings before the final rankings that set the playoff field will be released on Sunday, Dec. 7. The top four teams in the 12-team playoff will again get byes this season, though the top four teams will be the top four teams in the rankings, and not the four highest-ranked conference champions.

Does Auburn have the right to claim additional national championships?
Yahoo Sports' Jason Fitz and Caroline Fenton discuss if Auburn has a legitimate claim to the four additional national championships they recently added to their football resume. View more Video Transcript Auburn has officially claimed four more college football national championships, adding 1910, 1914, 1958, and 2004, wild to me. I'll use 2004 as a note because most of us listening and watching don't remember 1910, 1914, and probably 1958. But in 2004 it was a riveting year. I am the old person on this show. Uh, Auburn finished number two that year. They did not play in the BCS championship game, but they finished number two that year, but the number one title went to USC. Uh, that title was vacated by the NCAA because of the Reggie Bush situation, and all of a sudden you end up with Auburn saying, well, we finished number two, therefore we shall claim a title. I'm stunned, Caroline, to see this from a program like Auburn. Um, I actually recently just claimed a Miss America title and an Olympic gold medal. So that is how you may now introduce me every time we open up the show. Thank you so much. It was really so much hard work, and I'm really but that's how silly you sound, Auburn. And that's my biggest thing here: we are talking about Auburn football with a storied history, with a long history of greatness and championships, SEC championships. We are talking about one of the most reputable programs in the entire country. You're better than this. You are better, Auburn, than UCF-ing your way into more national championships. And of course I'm talking about UCF, who just claimed a national championship because they had an undefeated regular season but didn't get into the college football playoffs. Like these are make-believe fairy tale national championships. You don't get to just wake up one day and say, I feel like having four. More national championships today. That's not how this works. Now in 2004, obviously USC had to vacate that national championship. They beat Oklahoma in the national championship that year. But just because that win is vacated does not mean it's up for grabs. It doesn't mean that you can just say all of a sudden you want it. Uh, look, at the end of the day, Auburn has made themselves a laughingstock right now and if you're an Auburn fan, you can't even fight that. Like now you're in the same conversation as UCF. Good God. Like this is not, you can't give yourself a nickname in life. You, you're not allowed to give yourself a nickname. You can't walk into a gym, tell everybody, hey, I haven't decided what like people have to give you a nickname. You also can't give yourself a national championship. There is a process here if they really think because the title was vacated, that they should be named the champion, then I think they should go to the NCAA and see if the NCAA wanted to name them. If the NCAA had come out and said, you know what, because of the vacation of the 2004 national championship, we're going to, we're going to now give that to Auburn. Like in the Olympics, if somebody loses a gold, they have the right to go out and then give that gold to the silver. They could, they could do all these things. Fine. If the NCAA come out yesterday and said we're giving Auburn the 2004 NCAA championship, we would have laughed, but we would have laughed at the NCAA. Instead, we're laughing at Auburn, and this is the sort of thing you don't do when you're a serious. Close
