Police recover RM2m stolen Genting casino chips in Kuantan
The stolen chips were among 300 taken from the Bentong resort on August 2.
Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman confirmed the recovery after a man surrendered the chips following media reports.
'The victim, who is also one of the junkets at the casino, had purchased the 200 chips from the suspect at the Genting Grand lobby on Aug 2 via handover without any written agreement,' Yahaya said.
Authorities are working with Interpol to locate the suspect, who fled with the remaining 100 chips valued at RM1 million.
The suspect reportedly exited Malaysia via the KLIA autogate on the same day as the theft.
CCTV footage captured the suspect taking the chips and leaving the casino premises swiftly.
The case is being investigated under Section 408 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust.
Earlier reports indicated a 32-year-old junket company manager had lodged a police report over the missing chips. - Bernama

MELAKA: A technician has claimed trial at the Sessions Court in Ayer Keroh here to 52 counts of charges including raping, committing physical sexual assault and taking nude photographs of his biological daughter. The 41-year-old's plea was recorded before judge Haderiah Siri yesterday. The accused also faces one charge of producing child pornography by taking two nude photographs of his daughter in the bathroom when she was 17 years and 11 months old. The alleged offence took place at the same place on July 9. Deputy public prosecutor Muhamad Ehsan Nasarudin proposed that the unrepresented accused be granted bail of RM20,000 for each of the 52 charges, along with additional conditions. These included a prohibition on contacting the victim and prosecution witnesses, reporting to the nearest police station once every two weeks and surrendering his passport to the court. The court granted bail of RM90,000 and imposed all additional conditions sought by the prosecution. The next mention date has been fixed for Sept 18.

Project lead pleads not guilty to 68 charges of money laundering

The accused, R. Vikram Menon, 46, claimed trial for allegedly laundering RM688,916.85 by transferring and disposing the monies between Oct 17, 2023, and Oct 15, 2024. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. He had allegedly carried out the activities around Bandar Sri Damansara through 301 transactions for fund transfers to 67 bank accounts as well as 159 online and cash disposal transactions, ranging from RM1,000 to RM90,463.33. The charges were framed under Section 4(1)(b) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 against Vikram before Sessions Court judge Awang Kerisnada Awang Mahmud yesterday. The offence, which is punishable under Subsection 4(1) of the same Act, carries a jail term of up to 15 years and a fine of at least five times the amount involved or RM5mil, whichever is higher, if found guilty. Awang Kerisnada set bail at RM70,000 with one surety and ordered Vikram to surrender his passport to the court, refrain from making contact with any of the prosecution witnesses as well as report to the Sungai Buloh district police headquarters every month. Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Wan Nur Amanina Wan Din asked the court to set bail at RM80,000 but lawyer S. Kulasegaran sought for the amount to be reduced to RM30,000, stating that bail was to ensure court attendance and not act as punishment.

Man Charged With 52 Sexual Offences Against Daughter In Melaka
MELAKA, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- An electrical goods technician was charged in the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court here today with 52 counts of committing incest, physical sexual assault and recording pornographic videos of his biological daughter since May. According to the charges, the 41-year-old man is accused of committing the offences at a house in Taman Tambak Paya Harmoni, Melaka Tengah, against his 18-year-old daughter between May 12 and Aug 6. When the charges were read before Judge Haderiah Siri, the accused pleaded not guilty to all counts. Of the total charges, 17 were framed under Section 376B of the Penal Code for committing incest, which carries imprisonment of not less than 10 years and up to 30 years, and whipping, if convicted. For the other 34 charges, the accused was charged under Sections 14(b) and 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act (SOACA) 2017, read together with Section 16(1) of the same Act. The offences under those sections carry a penalty of imprisonment of up to 20 years and whipping, while Section 16(1) of SOACA 2017 provides for imprisonment not exceeding five years and a minimum of two strokes of the cane. One charge was also brought under Section 7 of SOACA 2017 for producing child pornography by recording two images of his daughter naked in a bathroom at the same location on July 9.
