Karnataka High Court to pronounce its verdict on June 12 on legality of arrest of RCB and DNA executives in stampede case

The High Court of Karnataka on Wednesday reserved its order on the petitions filed by four representatives of Royal Challengers Sports Pvt. Ltd. (RCSPL) and DNA Networks Pvt. Ltd., who have questioned the legality of their arrest in connection with the June 4 stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the city during the celebration of RCB's victory in IPL-2025 tournment. Justice S.R. Krishna Kumar, who heard the arguments on the petition, said he would pronounce the verdict on Thursday afternoon. The petitions were filed by Nikhil Sosale, head (Marketing and Revenue), RCSPL; Sunil Mathew, director, and Kiran Kumar, event manager of DNA; and Shamant N.P. Mavinakere, a freelancer with DNA. Earlier, State Advocate-General Shashi Kiran Shetty and Additional State Public Prosecutor B.N. Jagadeesha defended their arrest, claiming that the police adhered to all the procedures laid down in law and by the apex court while arresting them. 'No permission' Mr. Shetty said these four persons were among others connected with the RCSPL and DNA, who were responsible for making social media posts inviting cricket fans to come to the stadium for the victory celebrations, even though there was no permission to organise the event at the stadium. Also, the A-G said that neither the Karnataka State Cricket Association nor the RCSPL had sought permission under the provisions of the Licensing and Controlling of Assemblies and Processions (Bangalore city) Order, 2008, notified in 2009, for the event. The communications sent by the KSCA or others were only a mere intimation of the possible victory celebrations and no formal application, the A-G said while contending that in any case, the police had not granted permission to the victory celebrations held in the stadium, and hence it was illegal and punishable in law. Holding of illegal event led to the death of 11 persons in the stampede as the RSCPL had failed to manage the crowd, Mr. Shetty contended. On CM and Dy. CM While the A-G did not say anything on the court's query whether Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had stated at a media conference that he had ordered the arrest of officials of the RCB and others, the written statement filed by the police stated that contention of the petitioners, that their arrest was solely made on the Chief Minister's order, was not relevant for deciding the legality of their arrest. On the petitioners' claim that Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar had participated in the celebrations in the stadium, the A-G said he was only an invitee and it was was the RCSPL which held the event without permission.

Sakamoto Days Chapter 217 To Reveal Shin's Plan—Recap, Release Date, Where To Read And More

The last Sakamoto Days chapter, titled 'Tunnel,' began with Shin surviving Takamura/X's slash thanks to Atari. She explains that she used the final remnants of her luck to cause the 'Tunnel Effect,' shifting the atoms of the blade to avoid contact with Shin. She warns that terrible misfortune will follow. Immediately after, every member of the Order arrives at the aquarium by chance. Kumanomi launches a whale at them, forcing Shin and Atari through a wall. As more attacks rain down on them, Atari urges Shin to kill her, but he refuses, vowing to protect everyone. Shin then thinks up a plan to escape. Expected plot in Sakamoto Days Chapter 217 Sakamoto Days Chapter 217 will likely begin with Shin acting on the strategy he just conceived. He may attempt to manipulate X's unstable Takamura persona by mocking him, or by making the Order members trigger their bloodlust. Shin may also use the chaos among Order members to exploit weaknesses or redirect attacks. Atari could attempt to shield Shin again, possibly resulting in fatal consequences. Reinforcements such as Sakamoto, Nagumo, Kindaka, or Osaragi and Shishiba may arrive during the confrontation to help the pair escape or turn the tide. Contribute now New Delhi: Two days after a video circulated showing a young man purportedly of Indian nationality being restrained by the authorities apparently at the Newark airport in New Jersey, India has raised the issue with the US embassy in Delhi but has not been given the details of the situation, officials said on Tuesday (June 10). The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has 'formally raised the matter with the US embassy in New Delhi', while the Indian embassy in Washington and the consulate in New York 'have been in touch' with American authorities to ascertain the details of the incident, official sources said. However they have 'so far have not received any details about the incident or the circumstances under which' the young man 'was restrained, the flight he had to board or boarded and his final destination', they added. 'We continue to follow up on the matter.' Kunal Jain, an X user who has said he is an entrepreneur and a US national of Indian origin, posted photos and videos on Sunday of a young man being restrained and pinned to the ground by the authorities at what he said was the Newark Liberty International Airport on the outskirts of New York City. The young man's identity remains unknown. Jain claimed that he could be heard saying in Haryanvi-accented Hindi that he was not insane despite the authorities there trying to portray him as such. Among those restraining the man were seen wearing gear labelled as that of the police department of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs airports, seaports, bridges and tunnels that connect the two states. Jain also claimed that the young man was set to board the same flight as him from Newark to New Delhi but that the 'pilot stepped out, saw the situation and refused to allow [him] to board'. Reposting Jain's photos, Congress MP and communications general secretary Jairam Ramesh earlier on Tuesday accused the Modi government of 'failing to protect the honour of India and Indians'. Also referring to US President Donald Trump's claims that Washington mediated the ceasefire between India and Pakistan following their four-day-long military conflict on May 10, Ramesh wrote on X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'has not been able to summon the courage to speak – either on the ceasefire or on the atrocities being perpetrated against Indians in the US'. Modi ought to speak to Trump and call for American intervention in 'the atrocities happening against Indians and the fear that has gripped lakhs of Indian students in America', he added. The airport incident occurs against the backdrop of hundreds of international students and graduates in the US, Indian citizens among them, reporting having their visas revoked by the Trump administration. Some of them have approached the courts for relief. The MEA, which said it was 'supporting' Indian students in America who were facing issues with their student visas and reached out to India's missions, had earlier said that Indian citizens abroad must comply with local laws.
