The recent passing of Hulk Hogan has forced his greatest rival, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair, to confront his own mortality. In a candid and emotional new interview, the WWE Hall of Famer admitted to having growing fears that his own time could be running out.
The world of professional wrestling was stunned last week when it was revealed that Hogan had passed away at the age of 71. In the days since, Flair, one of Hogan's closest contemporaries, shared his thoughts on the loss and his own life.
"I think he just got tired. 11 back operations, hip replacements, now a neck surgery... How much can your body take?
We've all put ourselves in ridiculous positions in the business, but I mean, I'm 5 years older than Hulk, and I don't hurt at all.

"Anxiety That I Could Be Next"
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Ric Flair reflected on the immense physical toll that a long career took on his friend. He believes the cumulative effect of dozens of surgeries is what ultimately wore down the legendary star.
"I think he just got tired. Eleven back operations, hip replacements, and now a neck surgery. I mean, how much can your body take?" he said.
Flair then turned to his own health. He noted the irony that despite his own serious health battles, he feels physically great, which now gives him a strange sense of unease. "Here I am, and I'm five years older than Hulk, and I don't have an ache or pain in my body," Flair said. "It bothers me, and of course, it gives me anxiety that I could be next."

For decades, Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan were the two biggest and most defining stars in professional wrestling. Flair was the multi-time NWA and WCW World Champion, the "Nature Boy" who represented swagger and technical excellence.
Hogan was the larger-than-life WWE Champion, the face of the global "Hulkamania" phenomenon. Their rivalry defined an entire generation of wrestling, and their real-life friendship was a complex bond between the only two men who understood the pressure of being at the top of the industry for so long.
A Lifetime Of Defying The Odds
Flair's anxiety is particularly poignant given his own incredible history of surviving near-death experiences. In 1975, a plane crash broke his back, and doctors told him he would never wrestle again. In 2017, he was placed in a medically induced coma and given a slim chance of survival after suffering from kidney failure. He has also successfully battled skin cancer twice.
Having defied the odds so many times himself, Flair's comments are a raw and honest look at a legend grappling with the loss of a peer. It is a reminder that behind the larger-than-life characters are real people dealing with grief and the realities of aging, and that even "The Nature Boy" is humbled by the fragility of life.

Brooke Hogan did not attend Hulk Hogan's funeral: ‘He didn't want one'

Brooke Hogan, daughter of recently deceased pro-wrestler Hulk Hogan, did not attend her father's funeral Tuesday. The WWE star was estranged from his daughter for years prior to his death. Brooke Hogan said that while there was no 'big fight,' their estrangement was due to 'a series of private phone calls no one will ever hear, know or understand.' Instead of attending the funeral, Brooke celebrated her father's life with her husband and newborn twins at the beach. In an Instagram post the day of the funeral, she commented, 'My father hated the morbidity of funerals.' Further down, she wrote, 'I had to make my own decision to honor him the best and most genuine way I knew how … privately… the way that made me feel the closest to him.' According to a medical examiner's report, Terry Bollea — better known as Hulk Hogan — died July 24. An acute myocardial infarction, or a heart attack, caused his death, a consequence of atrial fibrillation and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a kind of slow-moving cancer. The younger Hogan, however, carries doubts about her father's cause of death. According to E! Magazine, she said, 'They're saying, 'Oh, he had leukemia.' And I saw his blood work every time. One doctor, I quote, said his blood is like a 25-year-old's.' Later in the interview, she said that 'we don't have cancer that runs in our family. It just seems weird.'

Brooke Hogan Explains Why She Asked to Be Removed from Father Hulk Hogan's Will

Brooke Hogan opened up about her relationship and final conversations with her late father Hulk Hogan on a recent podcastNEED TO KNOW Brooke Hogan opened up about her relationship and final conversations with her late father Hulk Hogan on a recent podcast Brooke said she was "sobbing" as she asked to be removed from her father's will in 2023 Brooke said she removed herself to avoid confrontations over money with her mother Linda Hogan and her father's third wife Sky DailyBrooke Hogan is opening up about the emotional decision to remove herself from her late father Hulk Hogan's will in 2023. During a call-in appearance Tuesday, Aug. 5 on Bubba the Love Sponge's podcast, the 37-year-old former reality television star told her father's ex-best friend that she was 'scared' of the fighting that would come after her dad died, leading to her decision to remove herself from the equation entirely.'I was sobbing,' Brooke recalled during the interview, explaining that she was texting her father's assistant at the time to ask him to remove her from Hogan's will. 'I just said, take me off everything, I don't want to be a part of it.' Brooke said she later realized that 'money didn't matter' to her anymore after she became pregnant with her twins, who she and husband Steven Oleksy welcomed in January 2025. The sprawling interview was Brooke's first extensive media appearance since her father's death last month. Hogan died at his home in Clearwater, Fla., on July 24 at the age of 71. The WWE legend died from a heart attack, PEOPLE previusly reported, while medical records also revealed the retired professional wrestler had a history of leukemia and atrial fibrillation, a common disorder that causes irregular heart beats. Brooke appeared to surprise Bubba with her call into his program Tuesday morning. The host said he and Brooke had not spoken since 2011, before Hogan and Bubba's estranged wife Heather Clem had appeared in a leaked sex tape together. Referring to him as 'Uncle Bubba' at points, Brooke remained on the line for nearly an hour as they discussed everything from her dad's recent death to their final conversations together. The former Hogan Knows Best star said part of the reason she wanted to be removed from her father's will was to avoid confrontations with her mother Linda Hogan and her father's third wife Sky Daily, whom he was married to at the time of his death, over his financial legacy, alleging Linda was formerly a member of the Church of Scientology.'And then I thought if I get left any money or Nick [her brother] gets left any money then, no offense, my mom has been known to find herself in the mix with things like that,' Brooke said. 'And I'm like, I don't want to fight Linda, I don't want to fight scientology…It scared me. And I just said, I want out.' Read the original article on People

Disney Dropping $1.6 Billion on This Shocking New Sports Deal

Disney Dropping $1.6 Billion on This Shocking New Sports Deal originally appeared on Parade. Well, Mickey's officially gone muscle mode. On Wednesday, August 6, Disney's ESPN announced it's shelling out over $1.6 billion to become the exclusive U.S. streaming home for WWE's Premium Live Events starting in 2026. That includes WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, and more—all of which will stream on ESPN's new $29.99/month service once the deal takes effect. The platform itself launches August 21, according to ESPN's official press release. The deal runs for five years and is valued at $325 million annually, marking a huge jump from WWE's previous $900 million deal with Peacock. Select events will still air on ESPN cable channels, but the full experience—including pre- and post-show coverage—will live behind the new paywall. "WWE has an immense, devoted and passionate fanbase that we're excited to super-serve on our new ESPN DTC platform," said ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro. "This agreement, which features the most-significant WWE events of the year, bolsters our unprecedented content portfolio and helps drive our streaming future.' 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 WWE President Nick Khan called it a 'pivotal moment,' while TKO President Mark Shapiro pointed to ESPN's UFC partnership as proof of how impactful this new deal could be. ESPN currently carries UFC under a $300 million annual agreement, which is set to expire later this year. This WWE move wasn't the only billion-dollar play Disney made this week. Just a day earlier, ESPN also confirmed it's acquiring NFL Network, NFL RedZone, and NFL Fantasy in exchange for giving the NFL a 10% stake in ESPN. Disney CEO Bob Iger called it a step toward delivering 'a truly differentiated streaming proposition' in a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. Fans didn't hold back. 'It's safe to say that this sucks, hard. Many will be reluctant to cough up ~$30/month to Disney,' one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter). 'That's gonna be a hell and a nah for me. The consumer loses again,' another said. 'Whelp, looks like some of us gonna retire from watching WWE,' chimed in a third. Still, some welcomed the news. 'That's…… that's not that bad of a price tbh,' one user commented. 'If we don't get a WWE Land at a Disney Park this deal is a failure for everyone involved,' another joked. For context, this deal comes just over a year after WWE struck a separate $5 billion deal with Netflix for Raw, which will remain with the streamer. 💪 SIGN UP for tips to stay healthy & fit with the top moves, clean eats, health trends & more delivered right to your inbox twice a week 💪 Disney, meanwhile, is clearly going all-in on live sports. Alongside the WWE and NFL agreements, it's reportedly in talks with Major League Baseball and already negotiating a new UFC deal. And so far, it's working—the company reported a 29% year-over-year increase in operating income at its sports unit this quarter, reaching $1 billion. 'We're not done building,' Iger said. 'And we are excited for Disney's future.'
