The Voice Recap: Which Singers' Blind Ambition Got Them Deemed Battle-Ready?
Divighn (Team Michael), 'I Got You (I Feel Good)' — Grade: B+ | Maybe this grade should be an all-the-way A. Divighn showed us range and flair (those yips!), and his voice never faltered even while putting on a heckuva stage show. But the overall impression the two-chair turn left was 'fun' rather than 'fantastic.' Maybe, as John Legend was, I was listening for some more 'stank.' Yeah, that's the ticket.

Jacquelyn George (Team Legend), 'I Have Nothing' — Grade: A- | The sister of an alum of Christian boy band Plus One wasn't really selling me on her Whitney cover until she hit the chorus. Then the two-chair turn unleashed a voice that was as magnificent as it was mammoth. Though Adam Levine tried to recruit Jacquelyn, he failed, perhaps because he suggested that she hadn't stuck all of her landings.
Tinika Wyatt (Team Adam), 'Sorry Not Sorry' — Grade: B | A church marriage counselor, Tinika delivered a solid Demi Lovato cover that was full of well-deployed 'stank,' as John would say. But the fiftysomething still remained a no-chair turn until she sang a made-up number asking for a Blind Audition; then, Adam was moved to use his Coach's Replay and save her from a depressing ride home.
Page Mackenzie (Team Kelsea), 'Hell on Wheels' — Grade: B | Kelsea Ballerini and Michael waited until the very last second to push their buttons for Page. Why so slow? Beats me. The Nashvillian tore into the song like I do dinner after fasting for five whole minutes in a row. Perhaps the coaches were looking to hear a little more raspiness in her fierce vocal.
Conor James (Team Adam), 'I Say a Little Prayer' — Grade: B | After starting off with a heavenly light touch, Conor earned a four-chair turn with a rendition of Dionne Warwick's classic that was competent but ultimately uninspiring. Not bad at all, just maybe not four-chair-turn good. Still, the coaches were gaga for the 28-year-old. Kelsea went so far as to declare herself obsessed. Well, OK, then!
Jessica Manalo (Team Kelsea), 'Unholy' — Grade: B+ | Jessica's vocal kinda snuck up on us, didn't it? She was good throughout her Kim Petras/Sam Smith cover, but it didn't hit me how good she was until she was done and I realized the breadth of skills she'd shown us in one short audition. Plus, the two-chair turn's rearrangement of the song suggested that she'll be as interesting an artist is she will a singer.
Barry Jean Fontenot (Team Michael), 'I Wish It Would Rain' — Grade: A | From the start, I was taken with this law school dropout's rich, lived-in voice. 'We should all turn around,' Adam said. Agreed. But only Michael was moved to swivel his chair and scoop up this contestant upon hearing his poised and appealing take on The Temptations. Maybe, like Adam, the others had zeroed in on a pitchy moment (that at least I missed).
Tyler Kae (Team Adam), 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' — Grade: A | Overcoming crippling anxiety to take the stage, Tyler delivered such a beautiful, slowed-down rendition of Cyndi Lauper's classic that Adam was moved to use his Block on Kelsea (the contestant's only other chair turn). I can only imagine how many Adele covers Tyler's coach is going to throw her way. (Dare we hope for some Alison Moyet?)

BD.ii (Team Legend), 'Adorn' — Grade: B | After his hoop dreams ended with an injury, Brian Darden II refocused his attentions on music — good move, considering that he managed to get a four-chair turn from mostly sleepwalking though Miguel's hit. Whether BD's presence was lacking, his vocal was strong — and he seemed able to modulate it with the same ease that we change the volume on the stereo.
So, for what was technically a good night — not even a B- grade — it still felt kinda so-so, didn't it? Who, if anyone, really got you fired up? Vote for your favorite in the polls below.

The White Lotus creator Mike White made a rare appearance at HBO Max's Nominee Celebration on Sunday to celebrate season three's 23 Emmy nominations and shed some light on his unique process. Joined by stars Parker Posey, Jason Isaacs, Natasha Rothwell, Sam Rockwell, casting director Meredith Tucker and a virtual Carrie Coon, White explained that when he's putting together the group of actors for a new season, 'It feels like it works best when it's sort of like an orchestra, and you want different voices and you want a whole variety. I also feel like that when it comes to casting, it's fun to have actors who have different processes and different kinds of different vibes. It's like if you're a connoisseur of taste, you want a little a taste of this, a little taste of that.' On the first day, I was like, OK, this is gonna be fun because they bring so many different kinds of methods to how they work. I don't need to tell them anything, they just do it and it's fun to just watch the chemistry.' Posey teased, 'I learn my lines front, back, left, right, up and down, and then Jason doesn't learn his lines at all. So it really was two different ways of working.' Tucker added that they don't do chemistry reads during the casting process but, when putting together the Ratliff family, did consider physical appearance 'to a degree.' White explained that it is important to him that actors playing family members look alike, and recalled how 'the first season, we did this family with Sydney Sweeney and Fred Hechinger and then Steve Zahn and we put them all together for the camera test and I was like, 'Oh, these people look exactly alike. This looks like a family.' And then I was like, 'We've got to do this with this Ratliff family.' I was like, 'We've got to make them look alike, maybe the brunette version of that family.' I don't know if they're as perfectly dwarfy cute blondes like that season, but they're amazing, I think they do [look related]. You want to buy it.' The cast also joked that it was such a unique experience working on The White Lotus that when it comes to meeting actors from past seasons, 'It's like being an astronaut,' Coon said. 'Like you've seen Earth from space and the only other people who've seen Earth from space are other astronauts. And so forever, the people who did these seasons will be like, 'I see you over there.'' White concluded the conversation on an emotional note, tearfully telling his cast, 'Can I just say, because I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to say this again with all y'all here — thank you so much for being so amazing. I was thinking about who's on this panel and how much you brought to this show and how much I learned from each one of you guys. I'm so grateful and I love you all, thank you so much.' 6 Shows You'd Probably Forgotten Love Is Blind UK Host Emma Willis Once Fronted
Emma Willis has now been a staple on British TV for more than 20 years. The Birmingham-born presenter was previously best known for hosting shows like Big Brother, The Voice and The Circle – until she and her husband Matt Willis began fronting Netflix's UK iteration of Love Is Blind, that is. While you've probably watched her on some of the UK's biggest reality shows over the years (not to mention This Morning, where she's become a regular face), there are plenty of other presenting gigs throughout her extensive resume you might have completely forgotten about. Here are the ones we dug through the archives to find, in honour of Love Is Blind UK's second season... The Hot Desk (2008-2014) Emma got her start on music TV in the early 2000s, presenting segments for MTV as well as the UK version of the iconic TRL. In, Emma joined another British music show called The Hot Desk, whose other hosts included the likes of All Saints' Nicole Appleton and Melanie Blatt, Laura Whitmore, Sarah Jane Crawford and Alice Levine. At the end of each interview, they'd asked the featured celebrity to sign the 'Hot Desk' with a pen (isn't that just oh-so 2010s?). One of Emma's biggest interviews was with a young and bright-eyed One Direction in 2011, a year after they came third on The X Factor. Live From Studio Five (2010) In the heyday of gossip mags and celebrity interview panels, there were plenty of shows out there like Live From Studio Five. Emma joined a line-up of co-presenters – including Brian Dowling and Ian Wright – who would conduct interviews and discuss topical issues, celebrity gossip and big news stories. However it didn't do too well with ratings, and ultimately came off the air after around a year and a half. Girlfri3nds (2012) Even as far back as 2012, Emma was clearly discovering that she had a bit of a knack when it came to reality TV. She presented two seasons of this British show about single women looking for love. The format saw three single women search for their ideal guy out of 100 auditioning men. It sounds like this was good practice for when she'd get the call from Love Is Blind all these years later. Prize Island (2013) Emma co-presented this sunny series alongside Alexander Armstrong back in 2013. Prize Island placed four pairs on an Island (obv) off the coast of Mozambique, with each team participating in rounds of games to uncover prizes, ranging from a TV to a luxury holiday. At the time, there were reports that it might not air at all,after it looked set to rival (ironically) The Voice. The show ultimately only last six episodes across one season. The Brit Awards (2017) Do you remember that time Emma hosted a whole Brit Awards? Honestly, we'd kind of forgotten too. Back in 2017 she took to the stage for the UK's biggest night in music alongside co-host Dermot O'Leary. Dermot and Emma were brought in as somewhat last-minute replacements when the night's original host, Michael Bublé, was forced to back out due to his son's illness. That year's Brits saw One Direction, Little Mix, The 1975 and more take home awards. Emma Willis: Delivering Babies (2019) This one marked a huge change for the presenter as she swapped reality TV and game shows for a hospital maternity unit. Across the course of four seasons, she worked on a labour ward working NHS hours while training to be a maternity care assistant. Whether she was making beds, cleaning floors or offering support during births, it made for pretty emotional viewing. The first four episodes of Love Is Blind UK season two are streaming now on Netflix. The model and cookbook author, 39, shared a video on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, Aug. 14, of her 2-year-old son Wren as he sat down for a haircut. The toddler could be seen sitting in a white high chair, holding an orange toy car. Wren could be seen pointing and making faces as his mom captured him on video. "Day one of a two day haircut (he gets very very mad)," Teigen wrote over the video. The two were treated to fresh fruit, salad, Kraft macaroni and cheese, branzino and dessert options. Luna then tapped her toddler brother Wren to help her serve her parents their desserts, an ice cream cake with yellow cake and chocolate frosting. "She is everything I ever was as a little girl but ten million times better," the proud mom wrote in the caption. This past spring, Teigen revealed that her son Wren was wearing a boot on his leg when she shared a carousel of photos on Instagram. The post included a video of Wren wearing blue shorts and a matching blue sweatshirt. The little one could be seen bending down, wearing a small black boot on his leg. In her comments, the mom of four clarified why her son was wearing the boot. "Wren is a-ok, just a little boot because he is is having trouble putting all his weight on this leg!" Teigen said.
