The Voice Recap: Which Singers' Blind Ambition Got Them Deemed Battle-Ready?
Pitches were made. Blocks were played. Canadian Mounties were brought on stage. But did any of the talent trotted out by Night 3 of The Voice's Season 27 Blind Auditions live up to the hype? Read on, and we'll discuss.
Divighn (Team Michael), 'I Got You (I Feel Good)' — Grade: B+ | Maybe this grade should be an all-the-way A. Divighn showed us range and flair (those yips!), and his voice never faltered even while putting on a heckuva stage show. But the overall impression the two-chair turn left was 'fun' rather than 'fantastic.' Maybe, as John Legend was, I was listening for some more 'stank.' Yeah, that's the ticket.

Jacquelyn George (Team Legend), 'I Have Nothing' — Grade: A- | The sister of an alum of Christian boy band Plus One wasn't really selling me on her Whitney cover until she hit the chorus. Then the two-chair turn unleashed a voice that was as magnificent as it was mammoth. Though Adam Levine tried to recruit Jacquelyn, he failed, perhaps because he suggested that she hadn't stuck all of her landings.
Tinika Wyatt (Team Adam), 'Sorry Not Sorry' — Grade: B | A church marriage counselor, Tinika delivered a solid Demi Lovato cover that was full of well-deployed 'stank,' as John would say. But the fiftysomething still remained a no-chair turn until she sang a made-up number asking for a Blind Audition; then, Adam was moved to use his Coach's Replay and save her from a depressing ride home.
Page Mackenzie (Team Kelsea), 'Hell on Wheels' — Grade: B | Kelsea Ballerini and Michael waited until the very last second to push their buttons for Page. Why so slow? Beats me. The Nashvillian tore into the song like I do dinner after fasting for five whole minutes in a row. Perhaps the coaches were looking to hear a little more raspiness in her fierce vocal.
Conor James (Team Adam), 'I Say a Little Prayer' — Grade: B | After starting off with a heavenly light touch, Conor earned a four-chair turn with a rendition of Dionne Warwick's classic that was competent but ultimately uninspiring. Not bad at all, just maybe not four-chair-turn good. Still, the coaches were gaga for the 28-year-old. Kelsea went so far as to declare herself obsessed. Well, OK, then!
Jessica Manalo (Team Kelsea), 'Unholy' — Grade: B+ | Jessica's vocal kinda snuck up on us, didn't it? She was good throughout her Kim Petras/Sam Smith cover, but it didn't hit me how good she was until she was done and I realized the breadth of skills she'd shown us in one short audition. Plus, the two-chair turn's rearrangement of the song suggested that she'll be as interesting an artist is she will a singer.
Barry Jean Fontenot (Team Michael), 'I Wish It Would Rain' — Grade: A | From the start, I was taken with this law school dropout's rich, lived-in voice. 'We should all turn around,' Adam said. Agreed. But only Michael was moved to swivel his chair and scoop up this contestant upon hearing his poised and appealing take on The Temptations. Maybe, like Adam, the others had zeroed in on a pitchy moment (that at least I missed).
Tyler Kae (Team Adam), 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun' — Grade: A | Overcoming crippling anxiety to take the stage, Tyler delivered such a beautiful, slowed-down rendition of Cyndi Lauper's classic that Adam was moved to use his Block on Kelsea (the contestant's only other chair turn). I can only imagine how many Adele covers Tyler's coach is going to throw her way. (Dare we hope for some Alison Moyet?)

BD.ii (Team Legend), 'Adorn' — Grade: B | After his hoop dreams ended with an injury, Brian Darden II refocused his attentions on music — good move, considering that he managed to get a four-chair turn from mostly sleepwalking though Miguel's hit. Whether BD's presence was lacking, his vocal was strong — and he seemed able to modulate it with the same ease that we change the volume on the stereo.
So, for what was technically a good night — not even a B- grade — it still felt kinda so-so, didn't it? Who, if anyone, really got you fired up? Vote for your favorite in the polls below.

Lisa Kudrow Reveals Why She Might 'Avoid' Joining 'The White Lotus' Season 4
Lisa Kudrow revealed that she would love to work with Mike White during a conversation with Parker Posey for Variety's Actors on Actors series When Posey said Kudrow should join season 4 of The White Lotus, the Friends alum expressed hesitation for taking on a role that is "too dark" Kudrow also revealed that she might not be White's "cup of tea," but joked that she'd let Posey know if she was offered a partLisa Kudrow might've just landed her next role. The Friends alum, 61, sat down with Parker Posey for the June 6 episode of Variety's Actors on Actors series, where they reflected on their careers and opened up about recent projects. As they talked about Posey's fan-favorite role on season 3 of The White Lotus, she questioned if Kudrow would join the next installment of the iconic series. 'Work with Mike White?' Kudrow replied, naming the show's creator. 'Yes. That's a quick answer. I love Mike White.' Although her interactions with White have been limited to hanging out with him at a party, Kudrow revealed that she is also a big fan of his work. 'Brad's Status was my favorite movie of that year,' she said of the 2017 comedy, which White wrote, directed and acted in. 'I emailed him to let him know because I had to. It was so good, I had to, and I don't do that a lot.' 'Lisa, you should be in season 4 [of The White Lotus],' Posey, 56, chimed in. 'You need to be a part.' Gushing over her character Victoria Ratliff, a wealthy North Carolina wife and mother of three who is unaware that her husband's business is under investigation during their vacation in Thailand, added that Kudrow needs to experience the power of the show's writers as they uncover 'the complexity of people.' 'Well, we'll see,' Kudrow joked. 'I'm not asked, but I'll have to let you know.' When Posey highlighted White's unpredictable storylines, the No Good Deed star admitted that she 'might not be his cup of tea.' 'Which is allowed to happen,' she noted. 'But no, I'm a huge Mike White fan.' 'I know you're his cup of tea,' Posey interjected. 'I'm going to text him after this to ensure that you know that you are!' Still, Kudrow had some hesitation about how she would fit into the series. 'I do get nervous about inhabiting things that are too dark,' she confessed. 'I try to avoid that.' Variety confirmed that The White Lotus has been renewed for a fourth season in January 2025, a month before the premiere of season 3, which broke records with 6.2 million viewers tuning in for the finale in April. Tramell Tillman could make Emmy history as the first Black Best Drama Supporting Actor winner
In 2015, Viola Davis won the Best Drama Actress Emmy for How to Get Away with Murder, becoming the category's first Black winner. That left one acting category that had yet to produce a Black champ: Best Drama Supporting Actor. Ten years later, that remains the case — even the short form acting categories, which were created in 2016 and consolidated into one in 2024, have awarded Black performers — but that could finally change in September with Severance star Tramell Tillman. Tillman is currently in third place in Gold Derby's Best Drama Supporting Actor odds, trailing Walton Goggins (The White Lotus) and Severance costar John Turturro. Tillman is the only Black performer in the top seven. Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus), Jack Lowden (Slow Horses), Sam Rockwell (The White Lotus), and Patrick Schwarzenegger (The White Lotus) round out the predicted field. More from GoldDerby 'Forever' star Lovie Simone on traveling back to a 'nostalgic' time for Netflix's teenage romance show Kristen Kish dishes on Season 22 of 'Top Chef,' Emmys, and the show's global impact: 'It's all driven by the fans' New 'Freakier Friday' trailer, Mia Goth set for 'Star Wars: Starfighter,' Samuel L. Jackson heads to Taylor Sheridan's 'NOLA,' and the rest of today's top stories Tillman was not nominated for the first season in 2022, not surprising for an unknown actor on a new show. Severance received 14 nominations for Season 1 and the Best Drama Series frontrunner is expected to expand this year. If Tillman makes the cut amid a possible deluge by White Lotus dudes, a win — and a historic one at that — is certainly not out of the question. The Apple TV+ drama was bigger than ever in Season 2, and Tramell got to shine even brighter as his Lumon stooge Seth Milchick faced a crisis of confidence, leading to his instantly viral line, "Devour feculence." Oh, and there was the whole Choreography and Merriment marching band dance. It also doesn't hurt that the actor has brought his unique line deliveries to Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning. SEE The ultimate oral history of Severance Season 2 It's not surprising Turturro is ahead of Tillman in the odds. He's a bigger name and a past winner who was nominated for Season 1 and had meaty material early in Season 2 before a diminished presence in the back half. Tillman had a consistent presence and arc throughout the season, ending with a bang with the aforementioned dance sequence (Turturro was MIA in the finale). And voters have shown through the years that when they're paying attention to a show — and there's no reason to think they're not paying attention to Severance — the underdog can topple the "obvious" frontrunner or bigger name (see: Jodie Comer beating her heavily predicted Killing Eve co-star Sandra Oh). Of course, Goggins is the frontrunner, not Turturro. And taking down The White Lotus, an acting branch fave, will be tougher. Formally established in 1970, Best Drama Supporting Actor has seen 13 Black actors receive 23 nominations over the years. 2021 was the last year with a Black nominee — and there were a record three: Giancarlo Esposito (The Mandalorian), O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid's Tale), and Michael K. Williams (Lovecraft Country), who died shortly after voting ended. They lost to Tobias Menzies (The Crown). There have been POC nominees since then, however, with Squid Game stars Park Hae-soo and O Yeong-su in 2022, The White Lotus' Will Sharpe, who is half-Japanese, in 2023, and Shōgun duo Tadanobu Asano and Takehiro Hira in 2024.
