Jasprit Bumrah cherishes memories from the competitive five-Test series against England. India won the final Test at The Oval, levelling the series 2-2
India's pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah expressed that he will cherish the memories from the highly competitive and enthralling five-Test series against England.
'We take back great memories from a highly competitive and enthralling test series! Looking forward to what's next," Bumrah shared on Instagram.
India secured a six-run victory in the fifth and final Test at The Oval on Monday, thereby levelling the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2-2. Bumrah missed the series finale due to workload management. However, Mohammed Siraj stepped up, receiving significant support from Prasidh Krishna, to deliver a fighting performance on the final day of the tour.
Siraj claimed five wickets, while Krishna took four, leading India to a historic win in London.
Meanwhile, Bumrah participated in three Tests of the tour – Leeds, Lord's, and Manchester – and took 14 wickets, including two five-wicket hauls, before being released from the fifth Test squad.
The 31-year-old Bumrah bowled 119.4 overs across three games and took 14 wickets.
Twice Bumrah returned five-wicket hauls — at the Headingley in the first Test and at the Lord's in the third game.
In the fourt Test, Bumrah bowled 33 overs in the first innings of the fourth Test — the most he has bowled in a single innings — but returned figures of 2 for 103, the first time he conceded over 100 runs in a Test innings.
The number of deliveries he bowled over 140kph dropped significantly over the series — from 42.7% at Headingley, to 22.3% at Lord's, and just 0.5% at Old Trafford.
Bumrah now has 219 wickets in 48 Tests.
Prior to India's departure, chairman of the selection committee Ajit Agarkar had confirmed that the pace ace won't play more than three Tests keeping his workload management in mind.
When Will Jasprit Bumrah play Next?
Following a month-long rest, Bumrah is expected to be available for the Asia Cup T20 in the UAE from September 9 to 28.
'Look if Bumrah plays in the Asia Cup and if India go the distance till September 28, he won't obviously play the West Indies Test series starting October 2. However, if there are no injuries, he will certainly play the two Tests against World champions South Africa in November," a senior BCCI official privy to current happenings told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Poovanna looks to shine in Aus
Bengaluru: The year started on a painful note for Poovanna Chandura Boby. The Karnataka player suffered a facial injury while representing Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers against Soorma Hockey Club in the Hockey India League in Jan. Poovanna went under the knife shortly after and was out of action for two months. The time away from the sport hurt his selection chances for the Indian team and also for the FIH Pro League. There's some salvation for the 22-year-old, who has earned a maiden call-up to the 24-member national team for the upcoming Tour of Australia. The four-match exposure tour, starting Aug 15 in Perth, provides an opportunity for the midfielder-turned-defender to showcase his skills against one of the strongest hockey nations in the world. It also provides me an opportunity to assess myself, where I stand at this top level." The present squad will be pruned for the continental event, which acts as a World Cup qualifier. Needless to say there's tough competition for spots in the Indian team. Poovanna, who hails from Kodagu, understands the situation, but remains positive. "There are a lot of quality players in the team and I am just 22 and I have a lot of room for improvement with age on my side. We have a lot of competition for every position now. Even if I fail to break into the Asia Cup side, I know I will be there for big competitions soon," he said. Poovanna has climbed the rungs with strong performances from the junior level. Besides being a gold medal winning member of the Indian team, which won the Junior Asia Cup in 2023 in Oman, he has also featured in the 2023 Junior World Cup in Malaysia and the Indian 'A' teams. "You need to evolve every day in the senior team. It is not difficult, but it will be a challenge. I need to find that consistency and constantly improve," said Poovanna. The 22-year-old's performance graph has shown a steady climb. He'll look to keep it that way.

Bengaluru: Amidst a plethora of superlative efforts by the Indian batters throughout the just-concluded England vs India series for the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, the performance of the No. 3 batters -- Sai Sudharsan and Karun Nair -- stuck out like a sore Sudharsan (140 runs in 6 innings at an average of 23.33) and Karun Nair (111 runs in 4 innings at 27.75) neither could anchor the innings after a good start at the top of the order nor could they stabilise after early both were batting out of their comfort zone. While Sudharsan made himself a name worth a call to the Test squad due to his exploits as an opener, Nair has primarily given his best below No. said, in an era where there are two-three worthies competing for each position in the country, the trick is to adapt and grab the spot.
