"If I were the Spurs, I would take a strong trade offer in this position, but if they end up with the 6-foot-6 bucket-getting guard out of Rutgers, I would not mind that one bit either. I know there are questions about Stephon Castle and De'Aaron Fox and how much this all fits, but depth has been a theme in these NBA playoffs and Harper is in a class of his own at No. 2 for best overall talent."

"It's going to be Harper. Reportedly, he's the only player the Spurs have worked out, or they'll trade the pick. San Antonio traded for De'Aaron Fox, so they need to sign him to a long-term deal. Denver Nuggets forward DaRon Holmes II appeared in a new behind-the-scenes documentary video released by the team, detailing his experience at the NBA Summer League. The 22nd pick in the 2024 NBA draft was commended by his teammates and coaches for the way he approached his rehab, while maintaining a high spirit. The medical staff helped ensure a smooth recovery process, which was on display in the first episode of "Rookie Diaries" released this week. Holmes was a consensus second-team All-American at Dayton during the 2023-24 season, averaging 20.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 blocks on 38.6% shooting from 3-point range as a junior. He was also the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. The 22-year-old made four appearances with the Nuggets in summer league, averaging 13 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and one steal on 42.1% shooting from 3-point range. He registered two double-doubles, including a 19-point, 17-rebound and five-assist performance on July 17. Holmes was understandably nervous to return to the site where he was injured, but the 6-foot-9 standout settled in and dazzled with the team. He was highly valued by the team entering the draft last year, and the organization will certainly be excited to watch him next season. Mikal Bridges agrees to a $150 million extension with the Knicks, AP source says
Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Mikal Bridges agreed to a four-year, $150 million extension with the New York Knicks on Thursday, a person with knowledge of the details said. The person confirmed the deal to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because it had not been announced. It was first reported by ESPN. The Knicks gave up five first-round picks to acquire Bridges last June and he rewarded them by taking less than he could have earned to lock in to a future with former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. Bridges could have earned $156 million in this extension, or even more by waiting until his contract expired next summer. Instead, he took the deal that could allow the Knicks future flexibility to keep building a team that reached the Eastern Conference finals last season for the first time since 2000. Bridges made a couple of huge defensive plays when the Knicks knocked off 2024 NBA champion Boston in the second round. The Knicks sought those defensive abilities and his availability to play every game that is unmatched among current NBA players when they traded the huge package of picks to acquire Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets last summer. Bridges played in every game — as he has in every season in the NBA — and averaged 17.6 points. The NBA's reigning iron man also played in every game in college before appearing in all 556 since entering the NBA as a first-round pick in 2018. He helped Phoenix reach the NBA Finals in 2021 and was runner-up for Defensive Player of the Year the following season, before being dealt to Brooklyn at the 2023 trade deadline as part of the package for Kevin Durant.
