Inside the Italian island celebs are choosing over St Tropez - and it's also home to Princess Diana's favourite hotel

There's a glamorous Italian island that celebrities are flocking to instead of other dreamy locations like St Tropez and Monaco.
Sardinia has become the destination of choice for A-listers and the ultra-wealthy.
With spectacular beaches, crystal clear waters and a rich history, it's no wonder the Mediterranean island is attracting stars - desperate to tie the knot.
Last summer, Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and his now wife, Lauren Sanchez, soaked up the sun in Sardinia, after sailing around aboard Bezos' Koru superyacht.
They were accompanied by Leonardo DiCaprio, his girlfriend Vittoria Ceretti, as well as Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.
Sardinia is where on-off couple Tom Brady and Irina Shayk first met too, reportedly 'clicking' at the lavish $13 million wedding of billionaire Joe Nahmad in May 2023.
Tom and Irina partied alongside famous faces like tennis pros Serena and Venus Williams, designer Tommy Hilfiger, and actor Leonardo DiCaprio
It's also been said at President Joe Biden's daughter Ashley Biden was in attendance, as well as Prince William and Kate Middleton, according to a local news outlet.
The ceremony took place in a structure built at the foot of Monte Moro. It began in the afternoon and went on until 'late at night,' the publication reported.
It was followed by a celebration at the glamorous Hotel Cala di Volpe in the coastal area of Costa Smeralda - where rooms cost a whopping $3,924 a night - the following day.
Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson and Ramona Agruma also tied the knot in Sardinia last September too, in an intimate ceremony surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
As for other stars visiting the island, Paris Hilton went on a luxurious yachting trip to Sardinia with her children in June.
And last year, British actress Gemma Arterton was spotted enjoying a local beach.
Now, Jennifer Lopez is confirmed to be jetting there this summer.
The American singer and songwriter will be performing at Cala di Volpe's annual August Gala.
The Gala Night is a highlight of the season, with Mariah Carey headlining last year, and Imagine Dragons the year before the.
But that's not the starriest part of the hotel, located near Pontili e Gavitelli and Costa Smeralda.

Other A-list guests who've frequented the venue include Beyonce, Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom and Justin Bieber.
Princess Diana visited Cala di Volpe too, and reportedly said it was her favourite hotel.
The royal stayed in the mega suite, which now costs $40,000 (£30k) per night, with Dodi Al-Fayed during their last holiday together back in 1997.
In keeping with the glamorous island and its guests, Dolce & Gabbana partnered with DG Resort to transform Cala di Volpe this summer.

Tom Brady must have 'lost half' his sense of humor in Gisele Bundchen divorce after roast regrets, claims comedian

Legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady must have 'lost half' his sense of humor in his 2022 divorce to supermodel Gisele Bundchen, famous comedian Jeff Ross said. Ross' takedown of Brady comes as the now-Fox Sports commentator expressed regret in being the subject of a live roast on Netflix, with several talented comedians on the bill alongside plenty of the quarterback's NFL teammates and coaches. Ross, a legendary roaster who has targeted the likes of Donald Trump and Justin Bieber in the past, was on hand for the festivities and cracked jokes about Brady's time in the NFL and several aspects of his personal life. Brady appeared to take the jokes well during the broadcast, even when people came for his ex-wife, with it having an affect on his three children. 'I didn't realize you could lose half your sense of humor in a divorce,' Ross told Page Six. 'I want everyone to love the roast. To leave there feeling like it was the greatest night of their life.' 'Above that, beyond that, the guy deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for taking the hits for three hours so the rest of us can forget our problems.' Brady previously said after the event that he preferred when the jokes were about him. Bundchen has been dating Joaquim Valente since June 2023, while Brady has not had a high-profile girlfriend since the divorce. Plenty of jokes about Bundchen and martial arts were made since the supermodel entered the relationship post-Brady. Netflix has not held another live roast of the sort since Brady was the centerpiece, with other sporting legends like Tiger Woods and LeBron James having the star power necessary to be the next subject. Ross is known as the 'Roastmaster General' and is one of the leading names in the comedic genre. The set from comedian Nikki Glaser at Brady's roast sent her into superstardom, leading to her having a role with Prime Video for NFL games and hosting last year's Emmy Awards.

It's easy to forget just how good Dele Alli was – unfortunately other talented stars could soon follow his sad decline

NEWS that Dele Alli's career as an elite footballer may be over comes as no great surprise but with genuine sadness. And ever since Dele revealed the full extent of his traumatic childhood, in an interview with Gary Neville, there should only ever be empathy and understanding about the way his career has nosedived. 5 5 Yet Dele's career trajectory — five outstanding seasons, followed by a long descent — is not unusual and will become more commonplace. Because elite modern football is no country for either free spirits or troubled souls. Dele is adamant he wants to continue his career having been banished from the squad at Italian club Como after one Serie A appearance — a nine-minute cameo as a sub in March which ended in a red card. But at the age of 29 — and six years after the last of his 37 England caps — Dele is surely finished at the top level. An increasing number of players burn brightly for a short period of time before they either implode or suffer serious downturns. From Dele's generation of England players alone, Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling, Jesse Lingard, Ross Barkley, Jadon Sancho and Harry Winks were all regular internationals who, for various reasons, have struggled to last the course. The intensity of the modern game, with its demand for extreme athleticism and utter mental dedication, means that those like Harry Kane, who play at the top for ten or 15 years, are going to become the exception rather than the rule. Add in the increasingly congested fixture list for leading players — the nonsense of the Club World Cup only adding to it — and many will break down physically as well as psychologically. 5 It is easy to forget quite how good a player Dele was. Not many players score 18 goals in a Premier League season from midfield, reach a World Cup semi-final and a Champions League final by the age of 23, win the PFA Young Player of the Year award as well as Match of the Day's Goal of the Season. Dele Alli hailed for opening up on mental health battles as Everton star joins Monday Night Football panel In that Neville interview, in 2023, Dele revealed he had been sexually abused as a six-year-old and was dealing drugs by the age of eight. He is estranged from both of his birth parents and was adopted by a school friend's family as a teenager and has more recently been in rehab to tackle addictions. During his early years at Tottenham, Dele was well looked-after by a supportive and tight-knit dressing room under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino. Those Spurs team-mates were hugely fond of Dele — regarded as a likeable but wayward kid rather than a bad egg. They knew many of his issues and there were many positive influences on him, especially Eric Dier. Dele's career trajectory — five outstanding seasons, followed by a long descent — is not unusual and will become more commonplace. Elite modern football is no country for either free spirits or troubled souls. Yet since Pochettino's sacking in November 2019, Dele's career has been in a downward spiral from Jose Mourinho to Everton to Besiktas to Como — and a serious renaissance now seems highly unlikely. Other elite players who have crashed and burned may also have suffered extreme personal circumstances. Others are simply not built with the one-track mind now essential to a lasting career at the top. Up until the 1990s, it was perfectly possible for elite footballers to enjoy sex and drugs and rock-and-roll lifestyles and still enjoy sustained success. Now that levels of athleticism have increased, players' lifestyles are monitored so stringently by their clubs and their chances of a sly night out are wrecked by the advent of camera phones and social media, free-spirited players like Grealish will struggle. 5 5 Nothing can be done about this trend. The internet won't be uninvented and ultra-professionalism will never go into reverse. In an ideal world, every top footballer would have the mindset and stable background of Kane. In theory, they should all be able to live like monks for 15 years and enjoy their multi-million-pound rewards once they hang up their boots. Which is all well and good until you factor in the fact they are fallible human beings, often from tough backgrounds, who are subjected to huge temptations. Being a professional footballer in the 21st century is far more lucrative, but far less fun, than it was in the 20th. Addictions suffered by elite footballers are now less likely to be booze and recreational drugs but online gambling, gaming, porn as well as sleeping pills — secretive, lonely ways to alleviate pressures and problems. Nobody is playing violins for these young multi-millionaires. But, in its move towards extreme professionalism and 365-days-a-year seasons, football will lose more wonderful players like Dele.

The Kingdom review – an intensely exciting and absorbing mob drama

There are fierce and overwhelmingly authentic performances here from first-timers in Julien Colonna's terrific mob drama. The setting is Corsica, around the 1990s, in the coastal region of Ajaccio, famously the home of Napoleon. Lesia (played by nonprofessional Ghjuvanna Benedetti) is a moody 15-year-old girl living with her aunt, hanging out with her friends and boisterous extended family of cousins. School is out for the summer and Lesia appears to be getting into a romance with a local boy. Maybe because of this, or due to other reasons, she is ordered to leave her aunt's house and go to the luxurious and fortified family compound of her widowed father. This is mob boss Pierre-Paul (superbly played by Saveriu Santucci), a heavy-set, slow-moving but intimidating patriarch who is perhaps displeased with her behaviour, but also gruffly tender and indulgent. Lesia soon senses that her dad and his consiglieri are discussing a recent attempted hit on his life, and the need for payback. At first, Lesia had been pining to go back home to her aunt, but soon she is thrilled to be an intimate witness, daughter and lieutenant to her father. Perhaps like Mary Corleone or Meadow Soprano, Lesia has an intense awareness of her own blueblood status and her father's importance in the world, as well as his importance to her personally. She has, of course, long forgotten about her crush on that callow boy: her father is the real man in her life. The performances of Benedetti and Santucci in the long and intimate dialogue scenes that Colonna gives them are really outstanding, as Pierre-Paul sadly explains the endless cycle of revenge that is now his life, and which began when he had to avenge his father's death more than three decades previously: 'A young man's anger … all human history is based on it.' We know what's coming, of course, but the film shows that something in its very inevitability is shocking. An intensely atmospheric, absorbing and exciting drama. The Kingdom is in UK and Irish cinemas from 8 August
