Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film is slated to release on June 20 but as per a report by Bollywood Hungama, may have hit a roadblock due to the censor board.
A source was quoted saying, 'The CBFC have asked for two cuts. Aamir Khan feels the film should be passed without these cuts. He and director R S Prasanna have made the film with a lot of thought. Certain scenes and dialogues, when seen in context, seem completely appropriate.'

It added, 'With Aamir Khan not accepting the cuts, the censor certificate wasn't awarded to Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir now plans to once again meet the CBFC Examining Committee on Monday and put forward his point of view. Hopefully, a solution will be achieved and the CBFC will pass the film on June 16. Once that's done, the advance booking of the film will be thrown open. As per rules, cinemas can't sell tickets in the absence of a censor certificate.'
Aamir Khan , who is gearing up for Sitaare Zameen Par, finally addressed the backlash he faced when his picture with Türkiye President Erdogan went viral during Operation Sindoor.
Speaking on Aap Ki Adaalat, the actor said, 'Turkey did a very wrong thing, and every Indian has been hurt by that. A few years ago, there was an earthquake in Turkey. The Indian government was the first to help them then.'
Khan added, 'At that time, even our government didn't know, just like I didn't when I went to meet Erdogan, that they'd do this to us seven years later. We extended our hand in friendship and helped them during a crisis, and this is what they do to us?'

WATCH: Pentala Harikrishna mimics Magnus Carlsen's famous fist-smash moment

Magnus Carlsen's famous fist-smash moment from the recently-concluded Norway Chess tournament has inspired countless memes. It started with people recreating sporting reels about other board games like snakes and ladders. Then it grew into something bigger, with people making spoof reels about evading ticket checkers and so on. Now, Indian grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna has made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the famous fist smash in an interview with FIDE. Harikrishna was one of Gukesh's seconds when the Indian teenager won the world chess championship last year. While talking to the global governing chess body's social media team, members of the Indian team MGD1 were asked various rapid-fire questions. One of those was, 'tell me you are a chess player, without telling me you are a chess player.' 'Can I show (demonstrate) it,' Harikrishna asks. When told he could, Harikrishna turns around and much to the delight of teammates like Srinath Narayanan and Arjun Erigaisi, smashes his fist at the table behind them and then says 'Oh my God!' OH MY GOD 😳🤯😲 — Norway Chess (@NorwayChess) June 1, 2025 This is exactly what world no 1 Carlsen had done after losing to world champion Gukesh in the Norway Chess tournament. The Norwegian was livid at himself for throwing away a significant advantage on the board in a single move and then losing to the teenager from India who now occupies the world champion's throne which he so willingly abdicated a couple of years back. Carlsen had later apologised to Gukesh at least twice before walking away from the playing hall. Harikrishna is not the first player to have mimicked Carlsen's fist smash. Earlier in the FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Teams Championships, Anish Giri was also spotted softly smashing his fist on the table before the start of a game. Anish had smiled pointedly at the camera while doing the gesture. Meanwhile, the MGD1 team members were unanimous in voting Harikrishna as the player in the team that tells the best jokes. And he certainly did not disappoint with his gesture.

Aamir Khan stalls Indian release of Sitaare Zameen Par after rejecting CBFC's demand for film cuts

Aamir Khan's latest film 'Sitaare Zameen Par' has hit a roadblock in India after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) asked for two specific cuts. The actor-producer has declined to make the changes, insisting that the film should be shown as it is. According to sources close to the production, Aamir believes that every part of the film — including the scenes in question — has been created with deep thought and purpose. He feels the story, the dialogues, and the characters all contribute to an important message, and removing or altering them would weaken the impact. This disagreement has led to a delay in the film receiving its certification in India. Without the CBFC's clearance, the film cannot be released in Indian cinemas. In response, Aamir is now planning to meet CBFC officials in person. He hopes to explain the creative intent behind the scenes and convince the board to allow the film to be released without edits. Interestingly, the film has already been approved in the United Kingdom. The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has given it a 12A rating, meaning it can be viewed by children under 12 if accompanied by an adult. The BBFC noted that the film contains some references to discrimination and mild sexual content, but found it suitable for public release. As the standoff with the Indian censor board continues, fans are left waiting for a final decision. It remains to be seen whether the CBFC will stand firm on its request, or if Aamir Khan's personal appeal will lead to a resolution — and a release date. Directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is a spiritual successor to Khan's 2007 hit 'Taare Zameen Par'. It stars Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh. An official remake of the 2018 Spanish film 'Campeones', the story follows a suspended basketball coach who is ordered to serve community service by training a team of players with disabilities as they prepare for a major tournament.
