Poll: Which offensive line position still needs help?
Last week's poll brought the expected response in a landslide of votes. Most Houston Texans fans are still concerned about the state of the 2025 offensive line.
Despite very promising showings at OTAs this week from the wide receivers, defensive backs, linebackers and quarterback C.J. Stroud, questions remain. Maybe, the biggest difference for the 2025 season is new offensive coordinator Nick Calley. Well, maybe more than maybe.

Regardless, we're talking big men in the trenches today.

LT - Cam Robinson
LG - Laken Tomlinson
C - Jake Andrews
RG - Tytus Howard
RT - Blake Fisher
That's what you call new places for new, and old, faces. And, quite honestly, none of them chase away all doubt. But, it's only May, so the next few months will provide the coaching staff a chance to make alterations as necessary. It should also provide valuable snaps as a unit. As the mighty Matt Weston would tell us, the strength of the o-line is working together, not individually.
If this depth chart changes dramatically for minicamps, then again for training camps, it might be a solid expectation that the o-line will struggle for the first half of the season.

But, leader of men Demeco Ryans is on the job. If he and Calley can get this group of big ballers acting as one, the sky is the limit for this offense.
It is the off-season, as we all know, where hope springs eternal. So, let's just assume this is unit that hits the field in week one.
Cam Robinson will likely get every chance to succeed before the hook happens.
Laken Tomlinson, the former pro bowl guard, is an immediate upgrade.
Jake Andrews, former New England Patriots lineman, has allegedly supplanted Juice Scruggs in the anchor spot. Time will tell.
Tytus Howard at right guard is a little surprising, although he's moved around the line more than any Texan in recent memory.

Blake Fisher at right tackle could pay huge dividends. The former Notre Dame monster has been waiting for his chance to grab the brass ring since the Texans took him with the 59th overall pick in 2024.
Behind these men we have rookie Aireontae Ersery, the aforementioned Scruggs, Trent 'been playing pro football since before you were born' Brown, Austin Deculus, Eli Cox, Ed Ingram and a few others. Aside from Ersery, who is hopefully a solid backup as he percolates on the bench for 2026, there's not much there.

Soon after North Carolina hired six-time Super Bowl champion head coach Bill Belichick in December, an interesting, and possibly significant, date emerged: June 1. That's when Belichick's buyout drops by $9 million if he were to leave the Tar Heels on his own. At the time, the contractual provision looked like a potential escape valve if the former New England Patriots head coach wanted to return to the NFL. After an offseason of watching his personal life overshadow his professional life in his first foray into college coaching, the speculation has taken a different turn, making the subject worth revisiting. When Belichick signed his formal UNC contract in January, he agreed to pay the Tar Heels $10 million in liquidated damages if he chose to exit. On Sunday, that figure drops to $1 million, owed within 180 days. It remains $1 million through the rest of the five-year contract. To be clear, he has given no indication that he's looking to quit. This month, his Tar Heels picked up a pair of non-binding oral commitments in the 2026 class, including Travis Burgess, the No. 30 quarterback in the 247Sports composite rankings. But the fact that the 73-year-old Belichick was new to the college game and recruiting led to questions about whether he'd want to return to the pros. He needs only 15 NFL victories to pass Don Shula for the most in league history. Raiders minority owner Tom Brady reached out to Belichick about Las Vegas' coaching vacancy in January, before Belichick and UNC finalized their contract. Since then, Belichick's girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, has become one of the biggest figures of the offseason. Belichick has said he has personal and professional relationships with the 24-year-old. They have intersected at times, including when he asked the Tar Heels to copy her on emails. Hudson shot down a question from CBS to Belichick about how they met with a now-famous line: 'We're not talking about this.' If Belichick and/or Hudson is unhappy with the situation surrounding his Tar Heels tenure and the media circus, the decreased buyout makes it more manageable for him to walk away. It's common for buyouts like Belichick's to decrease over time, regardless of whether they'll be paid by the school (if a coach is fired for cause) or the coach (if he leaves for another job). For example, UCF's Scott Frost — another coach hired this cycle — would owe the Knights $6.5 million if he left before July 2026. The figure drops by $1 million annually. Advertisement Ryan Day would owe Ohio State $6 million if he quit today. The buyout falls to $4 million on Feb. 1 and dwindles to $0 in February 2031 under the new contract he and the school signed earlier this year. Belichick's contract runs through the 2029 calendar year. Belichick makes $10 million annually ($1 million in base pay, $9 million in supplemental pay). The first three years are fully guaranteed if the school fires him without cause before the end of 2027. There is no buyout specified after that. On-field bonuses range from $150,000 for winning eight regular-season games to $1.75 million for a national championship.

Revenge game? Former Notre Dame star takes 'cooking' to next level to beat Fever, former coach
INDIANAPOLIS — It was another scoring outburst in the state of Indiana by a former Notre Dame women's basketball star. Marina Mabrey scored 15 of her game-high 26 points to lead her Connecticut Sun to an 85-83 win over the Indiana Fever on Friday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. And not even a minute after beating her former coach, Stephanie White, and teammate, DeWanna Bonner, Mabrey found herself in an unfamiliar position as rookie teammate Saniya Rivers said she would teach Mabrey how to cook in their next TikTok video, and it was Mabrey who would select which meal they'd prepare. 'We should make pizza,' Mabrey said. Rivers shook her head and scratched her forehead before offering a response. 'We're done,' Rivers said. 'That's a terrible answer.' Rivers' and Mabrey's news conference was filled with more friendly jabs and an abundance of laughter after the Sun captured their first victory of the season, and sending the hobbled Fever to a third straight loss. Mabrey's outburst in Indiana is no surprise. The 5-foot-11 guard won a national championship in 2018 with Notre Dame and still holds the school's record for most 3-pointers with 274. She was 10-for-17 shooting and 4 for 9 on 3s Friday, adding five rebounds, five assists and two steals. 'I won a national championship here, so I love being here, and the Indiana fans always welcome me back with open arms,' Mabrey said. 'I always appreciate them.' The Sun's lead grew to 74-59 with 8:47 left before Bonner checked into the game and led the Fever on a furious run. Indiana (2-3) scored 16 straight points, helped by Bonner's three 3s in that stretch, to take the lead. But the Sun had an 8-3 burst of their own. A clutch 2-pointer from Mabrey with 1:15 remaining and a free throw from Rivers in the final seconds handed the Fever their second straight loss without star guard Caitlin Clark. Mabrey also reunited with Bonner, who spent four years with Sun before joining the Fever this year, and former Sun coach Stephanie White. Although Mabrey only played half a season with Bonner after getting traded to the Sun right before last year's All-Star break, the two-time WNBA champion still impacted Mabrey. 'As soon as I got here, she let me know off rip that, 'You could talk to me about basketball and off-court stuff.' When I (returned to the team), she said, 'Anything you need, I'm here, whether it's a hug or conversation,'' Rivers said. 'On the court, she tries to instill confidence in me and (tells me) 'Shoot the ball. If you mess up, give yourself grace, but also, if you mess up, make sure you mess up going 100%. I feel like I have been taking that into account.' It was an important place and time for Mabrey, who requested and was denied a trade in February by the Sun. Instead she became a veteran and one of the few holdovers of a team that lost its coach and starting lineup, and her impact is noticeable. Mabrey's on-court guidance gives Rivers utmost faith that one day, the mentee will defeat the mentor. 'I told Marina that I'm going beat her one-on-one, and she doesn't believe me. But that goes with the confidence piece, so I'm gaining momentum,' Rivers said as Mabrey looked on shockingly. 'That's a big jump,' Mabrey said before River's followed with another bold statement. "I'm going to beat you 11-7,' she said. The latest: Sydney Colson, Sophie Cunningham leave Fever's loss to Sun with injuries Rivers said she hopes the 'good thing' between her and Mabrey continues as she listens to her vet. She made a career-high three 3s after entering the game with two in five games. However, Mabrey's cooking skills may cost the former national champion her credibility.

5 standout Patriots players from second open OTAs practice
The New England Patriots held their second open OTAs practice on Wednesday, which served as an opportunity for media members to view the team's ongoing offseason work. No one is wearing pads, and it's harder for the offensive line to hold off defenders without the same violence they'd be able to implement under full contact. However, Williams' power along the defensive front has been evident from the start. He can push a line backward and ruin a comfortable pocket. That was evident on Wednesday as Williams and company constantly muddied the pocket for the Patriots' quarterbacks. White has flashed the potential to be a dominant defensive playmaker in the league for years to come. Now, the question is whether he could potentially push veteran Antonio Gibson for the No. 3 running back spot in New England. He made it to the ball so quickly that some wondered if he might have known the offensive plays before the ball was snapped. That can happen when practicing against the same unit for multiple days. Granted, that still doesn't take away from the fact that Spillane is a playmaker.
