Disney+ launches new £1.99 deal, but it won't be around forever
Sign up to Disney+ For a limited time Disney+ is offering subscribers the chance to sign up to the streaming platform for just £1.99 per month. The deal will give users access to some of the biggest shows of the moment, and the deal is being launched just in time for the releases of The Bear, Alien: Earth, and the streaming debut of Snow White. And that doesn't even take into consideration the huge back catalogue of the company which boasts recent hits like Andor, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives and Good American Family. Here is everything you need to know to nab yourself the limited time deal. Disney+'s new deal is valid from 11 June until 30 June, and the good news is that both new and returning customers are eligible for this lower-priced subscription. The deal is only for Disney+ Standard with Ads and it will cost £1.99 per month for four months before auto-renewing to the then-current monthly price until the subscription is cancelled. This deal will save users £12 compared to Disney+'s regular monthly price for those four months. At the moment the subscription deal costs £4.99 per month. So what does the Disney+ Standard with Ads give you? Well it of course includes Ad-supported streaming with adverts catered to the platform's audience. Users on this tier will also be able to enjoy ip to 1080p Full HD video quality as well as 5.1 audio, and they will be able to stream on two devices at any time. One of the things that subscribers on the Disney+ Standard with Ads tier won't get is the ability to download shows and movies to watch on the go. But, if you're not too bothered by that, then the tier might be just right for you. Unlike the other subscription tiers on Disney+ there is no yearly plan for Disney+ Standard with Ads, so users will have to pay monthly to access the streamer. There are currently two other subscription tiers: Disney+ Standard and Disney+ Premium, while those wishing to give access to a person outside their household can also choose to sign up for the Extra Member subscription at an extra £3.99 (for Standard with Ads) or £4.99 (for Standard and Premium). What's to come on Disney+ from 11 June then? Quite a lot actually, as mentioned the next big releases on the platform include series 4 of the critically-acclaimed drama The Bear from 26 June, while Marvel fans can dive into the newest series, Ironheart, from 25 June. The limited time deal comes just in time for the streaming debut of Snow White on 11 June, while the hotly-anticipated FX series Alien: Earth lands on the platform on 13 August. As well as new shows and movies Disney+ is also home to award-winning films from Searchlight Pictures like A Real Pain and Poor Things, as well as fascinating documentaries through National Geographic. The Marvel and Star Wars franchises are also available to stream in full on the platform, as well as FX and Hulu series through the platform's Star Originals category. So there really is plenty to enjoy on Disney+.

Twix ad banned for encouraging unsafe driving
A TV ad for chocolate bar Twix has been banned for encouraging unsafe driving. The advert shows a man with flowing hair involved in a car chase and crash that results in his and an identical, caramel-coloured car sandwiched on top of each other, like a Twix. Five complaints issued against the advert said it encouraged dangerous driving and was irresponsible. Mars-Wrigley, who own Twix, argued that the ad had a "cinematic presentation" and was set in a "world that was absurd, fantastical and removed from reality", which Clearcast, the non-governmental organisation that approves adverts before broadcast, echoed. But the watchdog the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) ruled the ad "must not appear again" in its current form because it "condoned unsafe driving". While the ASA acknowledged that the stunt performed highlighted the fantastical nature of the advert, it took issue with the first half of the video that showed driving "that appeared likely to breach the legal requirements of the Highway Code". It said there was an "emphasis on speed" including with "fast paced beat and music" in the car chase, noting the "visible skid marks" left on the road. Mars defended the advert, saying "the cars were shot driving at lawful speeds and any emulation would only reflect the legal and safe driving presented". The sweet giant, who also own M&Ms, Celebrations and Maltesers, added that Twix is known for its absurd and playful humour, which was reflected in the advert. The final scene shows a Twix bar falling through the sunroofs of the two cars, before they drive off - still attached - and with the tagline "two is more than one". For its part, Clearcast told the ASA that the style of the video made it clear it wasn't meant to be emulated nor did it suggest "safe driving was boring." In the ASA's ruling, it said it told Mars "not to condone or encourage irresponsible driving that was likely to breach the legal requirements of the Highway Code in their ads." Pro-Trump Gen Z influencer takes credit for helping ICE detain TikTok star Khaby Lame
Bo Loudon, a conservative Gen Z influencer who has called Donald Trump's son Barron Trump his 'best friend,' is taking credit for helping Immigration and Customs Enforcement briefly detain Italian-Senegalese social media star Khaby Lame, the world's most-followed person on TikTok. In a statement to USA Today on Sunday, an ICE spokesperson confirmed that Lame, whose full name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was detained on Friday at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas for 'immigration violations.' The 25-year-old, who has more than 160 million followers on TikTok, was born in Senegal but moved as a child to Italy, where he is now a citizen. According to ICE, he entered the U.S. on April 30 and 'overstayed the terms of his visa.' After a brief detention, the agency said, Lame was granted voluntary departure, which allows an individual facing removal to leave the U.S. voluntarily in a set time frame, rather than being ordered to be deported. Lame has not addressed his detention on social media and did not respond to a request for comment from The New York Times. After losing his factory job during the Covid pandemic, Lame began posting silent skits reacting to 'life-hack' videos on TikTok, quickly gaining a following. He has held the title of the most-followed user on the platform since June 2022, when he surpassed dancer Charli D'Amelio. On Friday, before Lame's detention was widely reported, Loudon alleged he played a role in the influencer's interaction with immigration authorities. 'I've been working with the patriots at President Trump's DHS to make this happen,' Loudon, 18, wrote on X. In a video posted on Monday, Loudon alleged he heard from a 'few of his friends' and 'business partners' that Lame had overstayed his visa. 'I just called some buddies in the administration, and I've never seen anything happen so quick,' Loudon alleged. 'They were like, 'We're gonna get right on this.'' Loudon wished Lame 'the best of luck' and said he hopes 'he's able to come back as a law-abiding citizen.' Bo Loudon is the son of former Republican Missouri state Sen. John Loudon and conservative media personality Gina Loudon, who served as co-chair of Women for Trump. The 18-year-old frequently posts photos of himself with both the president and Barron Trump on his social media pages. During Trump's presidential campaign, Loudon was said to have played a role in helping the 78-year-old court young male voters. Loudon said he helped set up Trump's interviews with Adin Ross and Joe Rogan. 'It was the honor of my life to be able to organize and attend the LEGENDARY stream between Rightful President Trump and my friend @AdinRoss,' Loudon wrote at the time. 'GEN-Z STANDS WITH TRUMP!'
