One such story is of TV's favorite star Surbhi Jyoti, who is popularly known for her iconic roles in Qubool Hai, Ishqbaaaz, and Naagin 3. Surbhi tied the knot to actor Sumit Suri in October 2024. The wedding was a small but traditional affair at the scenic Jim Corbett Resorts in Uttarakhand. But beyond the gorgeous saga, there is a love story that changes silently what new-age companionship looks like.
Surbhi and Sumit met on the set of a music video shoot for Haanji The Marriage Mantra in 2018, and since then, their professional union soon turned into an emotional bond. In 2019, the two started dating and continued to build their relationship off the media radar. The wedding in 2024 was the culmination of years of mutual understanding and unflashy companionship.
What really makes their tale stand out is their intensely personal choice to have separate rooms in their house even after they got married, a decision that has generated discussion. Talking about it candidly, Surbhi shared that she and Sumit work from home a lot when not on shoots, and having single rooms with their own wardrobes, bathroom, and private areas allowed them to enjoy a feeling of individuality in the relationship.
'My own cupboard, my own wardrobe, my own bathroom, and my space. Sometimes he's in his own, I'm in my room. Still, we're together. This happened because we were on the same page,' Surbhi explained, stressing space isn't distance—it's just comfort.
She further added that both she and Sumit had lived independently for most of their lives and naturally carried that lifestyle into their marriage. 'We're not desperate to go out—we're just very happy staying in. It's rare, but it happens,' she added with a smile.
In a society where love is always glorified through shared company, Surbhi and Sumit's love story shows that intimacy and individuality can co-exist and that true love also exists in respect, space, and the ability to be your authentic self. Their relationship is evidence that successful relationships do not have to abide by societal norms; they must only work for the individuals within them.
