Family, friends pay final respects to Clark Atlanta alumna killed in California
Dr. Cameisha Clark was only 35 years old, but friends told Channel 2's Michael Seiden that she still managed to accomplish things a lot of people only dream about.

She first arrived at CAU in 2007, where she would later earn not one, not two, but three degrees.
She had been living in California, where she was a dean at Spartan College when she tragically lost her life.
There were lots of hugs and tears as friends and family came together at a southwest Atlanta funeral home where her loved ones held a public viewing Monday.
'I met Cameisha in the ninth grade when we were all going to Mays,' said her friend, Koko Humphrey. 'Just a beautiful girl. Beautiful spirit.'
Humphrey says she made the eight-hour drive from her home in Virginia, because she wanted to celebrate the life and legacy of a childhood friend who never met a stranger.
'She was that girl! Everybody loved her!' she said. 'She embraced everybody, so it hurts to see that she left the way she did.'
Police say a former security guard shot and killed her inside her office at Spartan College. Investigators arrested the suspect and described the deadly shooting as 'an apparent act of workplace violence.'
The gunman is also accused of shooting a second victim, a receptionist, who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Clark's death rocked the CAU community. School officials recently announced a $10,000 donation for the establishment of the Dr. Cameisha Clark Scholarship Fund for students who are aspiring educators.
Clark's funeral is planned for Tuesday.

Dunwoody officer shoots Perimeter Mall burglary suspect after brief chase
Dunwoody police says one of its officers shot a burglary suspect who broke into the Perimeter Mall. We're LIVE at the scene with the latest on Channel 2 Action News This Morning. Sgt. Michael Cheek with Dunwoody police told Channel 2 Action News that officers responded to a burglary call at the mall early Thursday morning. When officers arrived, several suspects took off in a car and started a brief chase that ended across the street on Perimeter Center East. $1B plan to renovate troubled Rice Street Jail approved by Fulton County commissioners
Fulton County Board of Commissioners approved a proposal Wednesday to revitalize the troubled Rice Street Jail and create an additional center for special inmate populations. The proposal was approved 4-1-1. As Channel 2 Action News reported Monday, the proposal to renovate the existing jail and build a new special purpose facility will cost over $1 billion. The proposal was championed by Board Chairman Robb Pitts. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The new Special Purpose Building is designed to serve vulnerable populations and offset the future need for outsourcing of inmates to out-of-county jail facilities, according to the proposal. The vote comes amid concerns about the crumbling facility. A report by the Department of Justice last year said the condition of the jail violates the civil rights of the people incarcerated within. The Fulton County Sheriff's Office agreed with the DOJ to a 'court-enforceable' consent order in January. As Channel 2 reported, an investigation into civil rights violations at the Rice Street Jail began in July 2023, in the wake of inmate LaShawn Thompson's death due to 'severe neglect' and an infestation of bed bugs in his cell, as well as multiple other incidents at the facility. Jacksonville mother of 5 missing for 2 days found alive in woods
A Jacksonville woman who disappeared Monday was found alive in the woods Wednesday after a massive rescue effort by police and firefighters. Kayla Bailey was last seen early Monday morning by one of her daughters as she left her home on Maxville Boulevard, her family told Action News Jax. Authorities said she could be in danger, sparking a search that covered the community and nearby wooded areas. >>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <<< The Sky Action News Jax drone took video of the dense forest where Bailey was found. First responders described the discovery as a relief after she had gone two days without food, water, or shelter. 'She was found in a wooded area just off a trail,' Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Michael Monts said. 'She was laying on the ground. She was alive and well when rescuers walked up on her.' RELATED: Missing mom of 5 found alive, Jacksonville police say Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department search teams spotted Bailey's feet from UTVs before reaching her. 'Search teams went out on UTVs … They were able to see her feet in the woods … and went and found her,' JFRD Chief Gary Kuehner said. Authorities mapped out the extensive search, which included officers on horseback, on foot, and by boat.
