Update: Car parts, suspected to belong to the VW Polo of police Constables, found
National police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe has confirmed that vehicle parts including a front and rear vehicle bumper have been found.
They were discovered by the search and rescue teams working to find the VW Polo the three Constables were traveling in.
Constable Keamogetswe Buys (30), Constable Boipelo Senoge and Constable Cebekhulu Linda (24) went missing on April 23 on their way to Limpopo from Bloemfontein.

Their bodies, together with two other people, were found six days later at the Hennops River in Centurion.
On April 30, Mathe said experts are trying to establish if these vehicle parts are linked to the VW polo that the three police officers were travelling in.
'A police reflector jacket belonging to one of the deceased police officers has also been found. SAPS divers, City of Tshwane divers and EMS, SAPS Special Task Force (STF) divers, Search and Rescue South Africa,have located a metal object that they suspect may be the missing vehicle. This metal object was felt by divers 4km from the N1,' said Mathe.

This vehicle is believed to a serious missing puzzle piece to solve the mysterious and complex case.
Authorities hope to establish whether the Constables were involved in an accident or what might have transpired.
Mathe added that there is no confirmation as yet as this metal object is covered by debris.
SAPS Crime Intelligence, the cyber crime unit, detectives, Lyttleton Community Police Forum (CPF) Traffic, fidelity secure fire, vision tactical private security are also forming part of this operation.
Mathe concluded that all three families of the Constables have been notified of the latest developments.

[Breaking] Retail store targeted by armed men in Galleria
A BUSINESS robbery occurred in Galleria Mall this evening (June 12), where a retail store on the lower floor was stormed by a group of armed men. Also read: Galleria Mall robbery suspect in hospital after shooting Preliminary information from a security company indicated that a group of about 16 men in two bakkies robbed the shop of jewellery, expensive perfumes, and cellphones among other items. The men are said to have also hijacked a Mercedes Benz from the vicinity of the mall as they made their getaway. The police and security companies responded and secured the scene soon after. There have been reports of shots fired, but there is no confirmation of any injuries. It is unknown at this stage whether any arrests were made. Kirsten Kluyts murder: Bafana Mahungela to face trial despite attempts to have charges withdrawn

Image: Facebook The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed that it will proceed with the prosecution of Bafana Mahungela, the 22-year-old student accused of the brutal murder of Sandton teacher Kirsten Kluyts, despite attempts by his defence to have the charges withdrawn. NPA Regional Spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane confirmed that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has decided not to withdraw the charges against Mahungela, following a detailed review of defence submissions challenging the strength of the State's case. Mahungela is facing multiple charges including kidnapping, robbery with aggravating circumstances, murder, and attempted rape. He was arrested in November 2023 at a student residence in Parkmore after the body of Kluyts, a teacher at Delta Park High School, was found dumped on a jogging lane in George Lea Park in Sandton on October 29, 2023. Kluyts had been participating in a local athletic event on the day she was killed and was pregnant at the time of her death. According to the investigation, surveillance footage captured Mahungela wearing a black T-shirt and pants before the murder. He was later seen leaving the vicinity of the crime scene at 8:49 am wearing a blue T-shirt, identified by investigators as the same one worn by Kluyts earlier that morning. He was also seen holding a black item in his left hand. Mahungela has admitted to undressing Kluyts and leaving her naked in the bushes, claiming he only did so to eliminate fingerprints after attempting to 'help' her. Next Stay Close ✕ Post-mortem results revealed that Kluyts died from blunt-force head trauma and strangulation. The State alleges it took approximately eight minutes to inflict the fatal injuries. The defence had filed representations arguing that the prosecution lacked sufficient evidence to link Mahungela to the crime. The State, represented by Advocates Siyabonga Futshana and Leisha Surendra, maintained that it is fully prepared to proceed. 'In response, Advocates Siyabonga Futshana and Leisha Surendra presented the State's position in court, confirming that the prosecution is ready to proceed to trial,' Mjonondwane said. The trial is expected to take place on October 13, 2025, in the Gauteng High Court. Mahungela has been refused bail and will remain in custody until his trial. IOL News

Mashatile avoids answering questions about 8 VIP protection service members cleared by Saps
The deputy president says he will address questions regarding the protection service members once the matter has been ruled on. Deputy President Paul Mashatile unyieldingly avoided answering questions linked to the eight South African Police Service (Saps) members of his VIP presidential protection unit during a question-and-answer session in parliament on Thursday. The eight were part of Mashatile's security when they were caught on camera assaulting civilians on the N1 highway near Olivedale, Johannesburg, in July 2023. In the widely circulated video, the VIP police officers – brandishing rifles and pistols – are seen jumping out of a BMW X5 and attacking the occupants of a VW Polo. 'I have not met with the victim because the matter is sub judice,' Mashatile said. 'The protectors are still due to appear in court again. Any engagements with any of the parties to the case could be prejudicial to them. Let's allow the courts to complete their work,' he added. The deputy president said he had full confidence in South Africa's justice system as a whole and welcomed the outcome of the police disciplinary inquiry that acquitted the eight members. Mashatile's answers to the rest of the questions surrounding this topic carried the same theme: let us allow the justice process to complete, and then we'll talk. This was the case when ANC MP Erald Cloete asked if Saps is prepared to make the record of the internal investigation, decisions and reasons for acquittal available. Annelie Lotriet, deputy speaker of the National Assembly, came to Mashatile's rescue. 'We have made rulings before in the house that the presiding officers cannot adjudicate whether a question has been fully answered or not, so we will proceed on that basis,' Lotriet said. Accused out on bail Shadrack Molekatlane Kojoana, Johannes Matome Mampuru, Posmo Joseph Mofokeng, Harmans Madumetja Ramokhonami, Phineas Molefo Boshielo, Churchill Mpakamaseni Mkhize, Lesiba Aggrie Ramabu and Moses Fhatuwani are currently out on R10 000 bail each.
