Oman Post participates in "Postal Prosperity Zone" initiative
The initiative seeks to modernize the systems of official national postal operators through flexible and rapid digital solutions that enable the operators to integrate with the global e-commerce system.
In a speech during the meeting, Dr. Ali Amer Al Shidhani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Communications and Information Technology, stressed the importance of digital transition and the development of joint cooperation frameworks to enhance the competitiveness of national postal systems.
The PPZ initiative, based on the Abidjan Postal Strategy, is consistent with the standards and regulations of the UPU and the World Customs Organization. It aims to develop the infrastructure of postal logistics and customs services and to provide a gateway for cross-border e-commerce.
By integrating digital operations and establishing integrated operational networks, the initiative provides an advanced framework for delivering parcels and shipments from the first mile to the last mile across global markets.
Oman Post's participation in this initiative constitutes a step toward in backing the Sultanate of Oman's digital economy and achieving the group's commercial aspirations in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which accords priority to the logistics sector as the primary driver of economic diversification and regional competitiveness.
The initiative also supports Asyad Group's vision to enhance the Sultanate of Oman's status as an integrated logistics hub.
The "Postal Prosperity Zone" initiative will contribute to strengthening the integrated logistics system by enabling full digital connectivity between Oman Post and global e-commerce platforms. It also helps develop an advanced customs infrastructure and boost global competitive transport capabilities.
The project deals with sharing data instantly between postal and customs systems, standardizing labelling and shipment tracking processes and improving the flow of air, sea, rail and road transport.
A three-day visit made by an international delegation to ASYAD Group's integrated facilities includes ports, free zones and multimodal transport centres. The delegation comprises members from the UPU Advisory Committee, representatives of the World Customs Organization, government departments and international e-commerce partners.
