Tragedy as walker ‘falls to death' from ridge at peak of UK mountain in front of horrified members of public
Mountain rescue teams were called to reports the tragic fall in Snowdonia on the the 18 May.
A spokesperson for Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team said: "The team was called out on Sunday morning after a walker was seen to fall from the ridge. Two off duty team members working in Cwm Cneifion also witnessed the fall and acted as spotters to guide in the HM Coastguard rescue helicopter.
"An off duty RAF mountain rescue service member and her climbing partner made their way over to assist the winchman, and a team member was also winched down with a stretcher.
"Sadly, the casualty did not survive their injuries, and they were recovered from the mountain. The thoughts of all involved are with the casualty's family and friends."

A woman who was sexually assaulted on a flight to the UK is ineligible for government compensation due to what her lawyers say is a gap in the law. The woman, who cannot be named and is referred to as Kelly, was attacked while sleeping on a Qatar Airways flight from Doha to Gatwick in September 2024. Her attacker was arrested when the plane landed at Gatwick and sentenced to prison in May. However, Kelly was denied a payout through the Criminal Injuries Compensation (CIC) Scheme That is because the attack occurred on a plane that was not registered in Britain. Law firm Leigh Day, which is representing her, has written to Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood, urging her to change the law. Kelly, who is in her 20s and lives in London, said: 'I do not understand why I, and other victims like me, have been excluded from the CIC Scheme. 'I was attacked on a flight en route to the UK, I am a UK citizen, and this crime was investigated and prosecuted by British authorities. 'I should be entitled to compensation, and being excluded from the scheme is unfair and illogical. 'I am still suffering with the effects of the attack and want to move forward with my life.' The Civil Aviation Act was updated in 1996 to ensure criminal acts on foreign planes bound for the UK can be prosecuted in UK criminal courts. Leigh Day solicitor Claire Powell said: 'Our client suffered an horrific sexual attack on a UK-bound flight. 'She was refused compensation under the Criminal Injuries Compensation scheme simply because it was a foreign flight and the rules have not been amended in line with the updates to the Civil Aviation Act. 'It is a gap that needs closing urgently and we trust the Justice Secretary will agree, particularly in light of this Government's commitment to addressing violence against women and girls.' A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said: 'Our thoughts remain with this victim, and we remain resolute in our mission to halve violence against women and girls in a decade. 'The rules that the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority follows, and the values of payments for injuries, are set by Parliament. 'Other routes are available for victims to receive support.' Kelly was attacked by Momade Jussab, of Swinfield Close, Feltham, who was sitting next to her and put his hands down her trousers. He was 66 when he was handed a six-and-a-half-year prison sentence at Lewes Crown Court in May after being found guilty of one count of sexual assault by penetration and two counts of sexual assault.

Woman jailed over Snapchat video of dogs killing cat in Burnley
A woman who filmed herself causing her dogs to kill a neighbour's elderly cat has been jailed after posting a video of the attack on Snapchat. Alexandra Gregson was heard shouting "get that little cat" on the footage, which showed two dogs pouncing on the 15-year-old black and white female called Poppy. Gregson was identified after the cat's body was found in a bin near her home in Padiham, Burnley, on 30 April 2024, the RSPCA said. The 36-year-old, who was already in prison for unrelated offences, was jailed on 15 August for 10 months after pleading guilty to animal welfare offences at Burnley Crown Court. The RSPCA said the video showed the cat, which appeared "frozen with fear" being set upon by two dogs in a garden. A laughing Gregson could be heard shouting "get it Zola, get that little cat. Go on get it." A report from a vet, who saw the footage, stated: "The dogs do not appear to readily want to attack the cat but following the repeated commands from the owner they do."The woman laughs during the attack thus appearing to find the attack amusing and entertaining."Insp Miranda Albinson, who investigated for the RSPCA, said the video was "incredibly distressing to watch"."This must have been a terrifying experience for Poppy and would have caused her considerable suffering to be attacked and killed like this," she said. 'Sadistic' A post mortem of Poppy's body found she had suffered from a torn liver, there was blood within her abdominal cavity and bleeding lesions to her left kidney and stomach which the RSPCA said was consistent with "blunt force trauma".After Gregson was jailed, Judge Sara Dodd said: "It is perhaps hard to put into words how sadistic and persistent that episode was."Your dogs took a significant amount of encouragement before they began, let alone continued their attack on Poppy."They had absolutely no interest in that cat before you goaded them into attacking her." Woman who made baby vape in clip apologizes with pathetic excuse
An influencer has admitted to forcing a little boy she was babysitting to smoke a vape after the shocking video she filmed resurfaced online.
