Peacock Streaming Service Increasing Subscription Prices This Week
NBC Universal's Peacock streaming service is boosting the prices of its monthly and yearly streaming packages this week.
Peacock launched on April 15, 2020, and primarily contains content from the NBC Universal library, which includes NBC-TV programming and Universal Pictures releases (Wicked, Nosferatu, etc.) . In addition to library content, Peacock also produces original TV programming and movies, and features sports programming including the NFL's Sunday Night Football, NBA Basketball and the Olympics.
Currently, Peacock costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per month for Peacock Premium, which includes ad-based programming or $13.99 per month or $139.99 per year for Peacock Premium Plus, which has ad-free programming.
Peacock recently announced, however, that on Wednesday, July 23, the ad-based tier, which is known as Peacock Premium, will be increased to $10.99 per month to $109.99 per year, while ad-free programming on the Peacock Premium Plus tier will increase to $16.99 per month to $169.99 per year.
Depending on when they are billed, some current Peacock subscribers may not see the subscription bill until as late as Aug. 22.
With the price increases, Peacock's ad-based and ad-free tiers will be more expensive than its main competitors — Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max and Paramount+ — Variety reported.

The Upcoming Peacock Price Increase Is The Third For The Streamer In 5 years
When Peacock launched in 2020, the NBC Universal streaming service cost $4.99 per month for the ad-based Peacock Premium tier and $9.99 per month for Peacock Premium Plus.
The streaming service maintained the pricing until July 18, 2023, when Peacock increased its monthly subscription pricing to $5.99 monthly and $59.99 yearly for Peacock Premium and $11.99 monthly and $119.99 yearly for Peacock Premium Plus. Then, in July of 2024, Peacock hiked its prices again to $7.99 per month or $79.99 per month for Peacock Premium and $13.99 per month or $139.99 for Peacock Premium Plus.
With the new price increases, Peacock will also be offering a cheaper alternative with its Peacock Select tier, which will cost $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year. Per Variety, the tier includes current seasons of NBC-TV and Bravo programming, as well as some library titles.
According to Variety, Peacock announced earlier in 2025 that the service has 41 million subscribers, which increased from 36 million subscribers in 2024.

ASM second-quarter bookings disappoint, cites order timing
By Nathan Vifflin AMSTERDAM (Reuters) -Computer chip equipment maker ASM International reported second-quarter bookings below market expectations on Tuesday, citing uneven order timing from chipmakers making advanced chips. The Dutch firm said order intake was "lumpy" and it expects orders from those chipmakers to pick up again in the third quarter. Analysts consider ASM one of the firms best positioned for the coming years as its sales mix is geared toward the cutting-edge segment strongly benefiting from the artificial intelligence race. But the global semiconductor equipment sector faces headwinds including tariff uncertainty, weaknesses at major customers Intel and Samsung and a sustained downturn in all other chip markets. "Second-quarter profits beat, but bookings and outlook for the third-quarter bookings point to stagnation", Degroof Petercam analyst Michael Roeg said. Bookings, the industry's most closely watched figure, came in at 702.5 million euros ($825 million) in the second quarter, against the 843 millions euros that analysts were expecting, according to a consensus compiled by researcher Visible Alpha. ASM also projected orders in the third quarter would fall below third-quarter sales, which it said would flat to slightly lower than the second quarter's 835.6 million euros. Second-quarter adjusted operating earnings were 263 million euros, a 31.5% margin, against market expectations of 223 million euros. "The market environment continued to show a mixed picture in the second quarter. Growth in AI is fueling ongoing capacity expansion... Conditions in most of the other market segments are still slow," the company said in a statement. On Wednesday, peer ASML warned of delayed orders as chipmakers building factories in the U.S. await clarity on the potential impact of tariffs. Erik ten Hag says Granit Xhaka ‘too important' for Bayer Leverkusen to ‘let go' amid Sunderland talks
Erik ten Hag has insisted Granit Xhaka is 'too important' for Bayer Leverkusen to allow to leave despite the midfielder informing the club he wants to join Sunderland. The Athletic reported on Tuesday Xhaka, 32, was prioritising a move to Sunderland over other suitors, with an agreement in place between the Switzerland international and the newly-promoted Premier League club. Advertisement Xhaka's agent Jose Noguerra Rodriguez confirmed to German media on Tuesday that there was an agreement between Sunderland and his player, but in response Ten Hag emphasised his desire to keep the midfielder. 'His agent can say whatever he wants, but this club has already let three important players (Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Jonathan Tah) go, and we won't let any more go. Granit is a leader, he still has three years left on his contract here.' Ten Hag told reporters during Leverkusen's pre-season tour of Brazil, as quoted by Bild. 'It's clear – Granit is a key player, he signed here for five years and still has three years left on his contract. He's too important to us to let him go.' Xhaka's Leverkusen contract runs until 2028 and the club's sporting managing director Simon Rolfes reiterated his importance to the club, but described any potential departure as a 'three-party' matter. 'I have repeatedly said that Granit is an important leader,' Rolfes said. 'The coach and I agree on that. We are in dialogue with all our players. In the end, it's always a three-party situation. Granit still has a three-year contract — and in principle, there can only be a change if all three sides agree to it. 'Topics like this always cause discussions and conversations. That's why it doesn't shock me.' Xhaka has made 99 appearances for Leverkusen since joining from Arsenal in 2023, helping the club win their first Bundesliga title in 2023-24. Ten Hag was appointed Leverkusen's new head coach earlier this summer, succeeding Xabi Alonso after his move to Real Madrid.

Golf odds for 2026 majors: Scottie Scheffler early favorite after Open Championship win
The world's No. 1 golfer just won the final major on the golf calendar this year, and betting experts anticipate plenty more big wins on the horizon. Updated odds for the 2026 golf majors are out, and Scottie Scheffler is the familiar name at the top of every list. He is considered the favorite to win every major in 2026 coming off his 2025 Open Championship victory at Royal Portrush, according to BetMGM. It shouldn't be a surprise at this point. Scheffler was also the betting favorite entering all four majors this season. He also won his first PGA Championship in May. Scheffler only needs to win the U.S. Open to join Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy as the only golfers in the modern era to win the sport's grand slam. 'Any doubts about Scottie Scheffler's British Open pedigree were emphatically squashed by the American at Royal Portrush with an effortless four-shot victory," BetMGM senior trader Matt Wall said. "BetMGM immediately shortened his 2026 Masters price to +400 from +500 and that could still shorten further should he continue to dominate on the PGA Tour. The comparisons with Tiger Woods certainly don't look out of place right now. All the early action is on Scottie to win all four majors at +25000, and he is the favorite in each one right now.' Here's a breakdown of the early odds to win golf's majors in 2026: What are the early odds for golf's 2026 major championships?
