EGA launches mentorship programme for female UAE National students, to further encourage young women to enter industry
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 13 February 2025: Emirates Global Aluminium, the largest industrial company in the United Arab Emirates outside oil and gas, today announced the launch of Ershaad, a mentorship programme for female UAE students.
The programme aims to further encourage and equip young women to pursue careers in industry, and is particularly focused on students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Ershaad focuses on enhancing critical skills for professional development through dedicated mentoring with EGA experts. EGA mentors will offer the students industry exposure, career guidance, and access to professional networks that will empower students to shape their future careers.
The programme also includes networking events and group interactive workshops focussed on practical training, organisational culture, and financial acumen.
Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Global Aluminium, said: 'The UAE is one of few countries in the world where more women than men graduate from university in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Empowering young people to pursue careers in industry is one way EGA can contribute to the development of a knowledge-based economy and the achievement of the UAE's Operation 300bn industrial growth strategy. Our goal is to inspire today's students to become tomorrow's leaders and innovators, and I am pleased to see young women engage in EGA's Ershaad programme.'
EGA has partnered with the American University of Sharjah, the Sharjah University, the United Arab Emirates University, and Khalifa University to enrol students in the Ershaad programme.
EGA aims to grow the future national industrial workforce of the UAE through many student outreach programmes including Engineer the Future, EGA's Ambassador Programme, and an Al Robot competition for university engineering students.
The Engineer the Future programme reached more than 7,300 students from 29 schools in the 2023-2024 academic year, and over 30,000 since the initiative was launched in 2017. The programme encourages interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics by explaining their real-world industrial applications.
EGA is a significant employer for science, technology, engineering and mathematics professionals, employing around 1,500 people in these fields including over 500 UAE Nationals.

EGA to explore opportunities to develop bauxite-related projects in Ghana
ABU DHABI - Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) today announced the signing of an agreement with Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) to explore opportunities to develop bauxite-related projects in the Republic of Ghana. Ghana has more than 900 million tonnes of bauxite resources, in one large and two smaller known deposits. Ghana currently produces around 1.5 million tonnes of bauxite per year. Under the agreement, EGA and GIADEC will explore the potential for long-term bauxite off-take arrangements and collaboration on rail and port infrastructure to expand production. Abdulnasser bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA, said, 'This aligns well with EGA's goal of diversifying our sources of upstream supply as we grow our metal production, including in the US as we progress our plans to develop a greenfield primary aluminium production plant as announced during the recent state visit to the UAE of President Trump. EGA is looking to double its bauxite production in the next few years and exploring multiple opportunities worldwide, and Ghana is amongst them.'

Federal Youth Authority Partners with EGA to Expand Opportunities for UAE Youth
The Federal Youth Authority (FYA) has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) to accelerate development opportunities for young Emiratis, aligning with the National Youth Agenda 2031. The agreement was formalised at EGA's Al Taweelah headquarters in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Sultan bin Saif Al Neyadi, Minister of State for Youth Affairs. It was signed by Khaled Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Federal Youth Authority, and Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, Chief Executive Officer of EGA. The partnership aims to create a dynamic ecosystem that supports youth empowerment and skill development across the UAE. Both entities will collaborate on initiatives that equip young nationals with the tools needed to drive the nation's future growth. Al Nuaimi underscored the significance of the agreement, stating that empowering youth is central to the national vision. 'Through this partnership, we aim to build a generation that excels in creativity and innovation, and is ready to contribute meaningfully to the UAE's progress,' he said. Bin Kalban echoed this sentiment, highlighting EGA's longstanding commitment to nurturing talent. 'Our collaboration with the Federal Youth Authority is an extension of our efforts to support the next generation of leaders and innovators,' he said. EGA, which established its Youth Council in 2018, employs over 700 individuals under the age of 35 and runs outreach programmes that have engaged more than 35,000 students. Emirates Global Aluminium Expands Solar Aluminium Supply to Hyundai Mobis
Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has signed a new agreement to significantly increase its supply of CelestiAL solar aluminium to Hyundai Mobis, strengthening a long-standing partnership with the global automotive parts manufacturer. Under the expanded deal, EGA will boost its annual supply of CelestiAL from 8,000 tonnes in 2024 to as much as 15,000 tonnes by 2026. The companies also plan to explore a long-term supply agreement beyond 2026, with a focus on value-added products such as billets, primary foundry alloys, and recycled aluminium. EGA and Hyundai Mobis will collaborate on developing advanced alloys tailored for automotive use, aligning with the industry's shift toward lightweight, low-emission vehicles. Aluminium is widely used in vehicle manufacturing for its strength, durability, and corrosion resistance. 'This agreement deepens our relationship with Hyundai Mobis and highlights the increasing demand for sustainably produced aluminium,' said Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA. 'We remain committed to innovation and sustainability in our operations.' Hyundai Mobis expressed confidence in the partnership's potential to support its green supply chain goals. 'We will proactively respond to global environmental regulations through low-carbon aluminium sourcing,' said Sun Woo Lee, Senior Vice President and Head of Procurement at Hyundai Mobis. CelestiAL, produced using solar power, reflects EGA's commitment to decarbonising the aluminium industry.
