Inside Pele's abandoned mansion with football pitch taken over by nature
Brazilian football legend Pele passed away in 2022, and his once-glorious beach-front mansion was found to be in a dilapidated state by YouTubers two years after his death
Content creators filmed the inside of Pele 's mansion following the football icon's death and found the property to be significantly run down. The Brazilian hero came to prominence in 1958 at just 17 years of age when he won his first of three FIFA World Cups with his nation.
The forward enjoyed a storied career as he spent 18 years with boyhood club Santos before embarking on a journey in the United States with the New York Cosmos where he retired in 1977.
Pele became a worldwide ambassador for the sport and supported numerous charitable causes after his footballing career but fell seriously ill in 2021 when he was diagnosed with colon cancer.
After undergoing treatment in the following months, he later died in December 2022 at the age of 82 with his cause of death being multiple organ failure, a complication of his previous cancer diagnosis.
The Santos icon's penultimate residence was a million-pound mansion on Pernambuco Beach in Guaruja that included a football field, a swimming pool, a tennis court and a bar.
It was in 2024 that the property was entered by influencer Lucas Wesley and two of his content creator friends.
Wesley – who posted the 90-minute video on TikTok in October 2024 which garnered over 2.5million views – said he was able to enter the property after finding the garage door slightly open.
The influencer reposted the footage he captured on Instagram earlier this month that led to his findings gaining attention on social media once again. He said he nobody had responded inside the property and found it to be empty.
"Getting to know this place and seeing up close everything that once belonged to Pelé is indescribable," Wesley said.
"For anyone who is a football fan and knows Pelé's history, they would certainly be moved by everything there, just as we were."
However, he admitted the poor state the property – which is under the control of Pele's son Edinho – had been left in caused him to feel emotional. "[It was] dirty and vandalised," he claimed. "For us fans, it leaves a truly sad feeling."
In Wesley's footage, viewers were able to see the football pitch in the garden that was almost completely taken over by foliage while the swimming pool was ridden with algae, turning the water green.
The property being labelled as abandoned is said to be incorrect, according to Edinho's lawyer, Augusto Miglioli, who said the property is not abandoned and is purely an inherited property from his father.
Part of the mansion was hidden by the undergrowth that looked to have remained uncut for a considerable amount of time. Rust was prevalent on the gates while cobwebs covered sections of the building.
Miglioli had warned Wesley and his two friends that they "will be held civilly and criminally responsible".
According to lawyer Thyago Garcia, it is only when the owner of a property expresses a lack of interest in the controlling of the building can it be considered abandoned.
"The mere deterioration, lack of maintenance, or even being unoccupied for a long period of time does not suffice to describe it as legally abandoned," Garcia explained.
He added that the ability to enter a property through unlocked doors or open windows does not warrant entry from a third-party without the consent of the owner.
"Possession and ownership are protected by law regardless of property condition," he continued.
The current state of the property is a far cry from it's previous look decades prior where Pele played host to parties at the mansion for friends and celebrities.

Merit 'five minute' routine includes 'holy grail' glow serum
The Merit Prep Set is a four-piece bundle to prep skin for foundation and the routine includes a new tinted moisturiser just in time for summer Clean beauty brand Merit has offered fans a 15% off discount on the Prep Set, which includes a serum that has been hailed a "holy grail" for glowing skin. The sleek minimalistic packaging and hydrating skincare formulas have quickly turned Merit into a cult beauty brand and it has won over the likes of Demi Moore and Nichole Richie. Sharing on Instagram, Merit posted a "routine that takes only five minutes" and that's the Prep Set and the Uniform Tinted Mineral Sunscreen. For a limited time, the Prep Set is reduced from £130 to £111 and it includes the viral Great Skin Instant Glow Serum, Great Skin Moisturiser, The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick and a Blending Brush. Formulated to plump and hydrate for an instant glow, the bi-phase serum, worth £34 alone, includes a blend of four types of hyaluronic acid to target multiple layers of skin to lock in moisture. It also has cacao seed extract to stimulate blood flow for an "immediate plumping effect". One fan reacted and shared: That serum is my holy grail! Compliments on my skin evey time I wear and the glow is amazing." Another added: "Need it all, the serum is my holy grail." The second step of the routine is to lock in hydration and prep skin for makeup using the Great Skin Priming Moisturiser. The pH-balanced face cream has added biomimetic emulsifier for a blurred, cashmere-like finish, while the peptides and oat extract deliver what fans said "wore so well throughout the day" and it "can be worn solo for a dewy look or use it as a primer for makeup". Then add in a shade of the Uniform, a tinted mineral sunscreen that comes with 15 shades. Our beauty writers have tested the skincare makeup-hybrid and Eve Rowlands described it as a "silky velvety texture and an airbrush finish", while Lauren Codling loved the "seamless blend" that saw her swapping out her M.A.C foundation in summer. But Bethan Shufflebotham found the Uniform "clinging" on particular dry areas and Eve suggested there could be a better design for the lid. Use along with the No.1 Blending Brush to create a well-protected smooth canvas before adding blush, contour and highlighter. There are other Tinted SPF Moisturisers on the market, including the Saie Slip Tint Dewy Tinted Moisturiser, £31, and the Beauty of Joseon Daily Tinted Fluid Sunscreen SPF30, which is on 20% off on LookFantastic and available at £13.60. The final step will be the Minimalist, a complexion stick that does not categorise as a foundation nor a concealer. It provides added coverage or can double as a contour to sculpt and define. One shopper said: "I am obsessed with The Uniform for all over and then use the Minimalist Stick as a concealer. Such a good duo." One fan raved about the Merit set: "Hands down best makeup I have ever used as a minimal five-minute makeup girl. Top notch and worth every single penny." Another used the Minimalist to cover her under eyes dark circles and loved how it "make my eyes look awake". But a shopper took away a star and shared: "Only negative is that I can go through this fast so a lower price would be more enticing. Merit is not the only brand that launch stick-like makeup , Charlotte Tilbury's Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint, £35, gives a "ring-like effect" that can double as highlighter or foundation. Pixi Beauty's On-the-Glow Base is a more affordable option and is available on Amazon for £22. The Merit Prep Set is now on 15% off and shoppers can complete the "five-minute routine" along with The Uniform.

Emiliano Martinez to Man Utd 'enables' two signings to ease Ruben Amorim tension
Manchester United are reported to be targeting Emiliano Martinez, and have been told the Argentine No.1's arrival could spark more signings to alleviate Ruben Amorim's frustration Manchester United have been told that signing Emiliano Martinez could trigger a swathe of new arrivals. The Argentine goalkeeper is expected to leave Aston Villa this summer after appearing to wave an emotional goodbye to fans following the club's final home game of the season. Reports have since emerged that the Red Devils are eyeing a move for the World Cup winner as they look to rebuild under Ruben Amorim. It's been claimed that Martinez, aged 32, would prefer to join United after also being linked with Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray and teams in the Saudi Pro League. United's squad is due to undergo a significant overhaul this summer after enduring their worst ever Premier League season as they finished 15th. However, as per the Daily Star, the club's Portuguese head coach is growing impatient with the lack of action from his bosses in the transfer market. United have made just one signing since the end of the season after securing the services of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha for a sum of £62.5m from Wolves. They are also understood to be targeting Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo and Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, but the failure to complete such deals has left Amorim frustrated. But ex-United goalkeeper Ben Foster believes there is still hope after suggesting that bringing in a player of Martinez's quality would encourage others to follow. The former Watford and Wrexham shot-stopper expressed his view despite suggesting United are unlikely to challenge at the top of the table next season. "That's a good move for Man United and it's going to be a massive miss [for Aston Villa] ," Foster said on his ' Fozcast ' podcast. "If they do sign him, I think it enables United to go and flex their muscles and get a couple more big boys. "Mbeumo has already been spoken about and Cunha is already through the door. But I don't think they are going to be anywhere near challenging. Even the top ten is going to be a struggle this season for them." When asked what would motivate Martinez to leave Villa, who finished sixth in the table, he added: "What Man United have got ahead of others is global appeal. "If he signs for Manchester United, everything just gets bumped and his wages are going to go up. He's definitely going somewhere, because nobody cries on the pitch at the end of the season otherwise." Any move for Martinez is likely to see him replace Andre Onana as United's first-choice goalkeeper. Onana has made a series of errors since joining the club and has recently spoken out about rumours surrounding his future, telling Afrik-Foot: "Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see." Martinez currently has four years remaining on the five-year contract he signed with Villa in 2024. If he does join United, he could find at least two familiar faces at Old Trafford in international teammates Lisandro Martinez and Alejandro Garnacho.

The mother-of-three shared a car selfie while humorously referring to her newfound role as her children's 'personal party driver'. You look so pretty and the glasses really suit you." Another admirer added: "Wow! ! ! Holly you have never looked better." Although she's been a regular fixture on television for many years, currently there appear to be no set plans for her viewers to anticipate. The television personality finds herself in an unusual position, without a lined-up programme for the first time in 21 years. This follows the conclusion of her regular stint on Dancing On Ice, which has been cancelled. (Image: PA ) Holly's other presenting role on Bear Hunt with Bear Grylls won't be returning either, as it too has been axed. She has also decided to step down from You Bet!, leaving Stephen Mulhern to host the show solo. There are rumours that Holly's husband, Dan Baldwin, is working on a revival of Record Breakers, potentially offering Holly a new presenting opportunity. A source told The Sun that it would make "perfect sense" for Holly to be considered for the role. They stated: "Record Breakers is likely to be a prime time hit and it would make perfect sense for Holly to take the reins. She has worked alongside Dan before and the pair know what it takes to make great telly." Holly's name has also been mentioned among potential hosts for a reboot of Cilla Black's Blind Date, with Claudia Winkleman and Davina McCall also in the running. Another project Holly is being considered for is a new Channel 4 programme aimed at discovering fresh singing talent. Holly made her return to television last year after an 18-month hiatus. Reports suggest that ITV is eager to retain Holly, following recent discussions with Katie Rawcliffe, director of entertainment and daytime, about future opportunities. An insider disclosed: "Holly always intended to lock in new presenting roles for ITV, which has been her home for so long. She didn't have anything confirmed earlier this year just due to the way the cards had fallen, but there are a string of exciting projects on the table and 2025 is looking good for Holly. "Holly is looking to the future and this week's meeting was a big part of that. It won't be a return to daytime programming but new entertainment formats." The meeting happened to coincide with the broadcast of a documentary about Holly's kidnapping. Article continues below Holly opted out of involvement in Channel 5's documentary, The Plot To Kill Holly Willoughby, which chronicled the disturbing plan by an obsessed security guard named Gavin Plumb to kidnap, sexually assault and murder her. It was this harrowing ordeal that prompted her to step back from her presenting duties on ITV1's This Morning and to temporarily withdraw from television.
