Huge news for base organisers and decorators, Minecraft's next drop will add shelves
In a recent snapshot shared to the Minecraft website, a couple of new features for the game's next drop have been revealed. Much like the Copper Golem, one of these additions is also designed to make organising your base a lot more convenient.
Rather than sifting through a room of chests, you'll now be able to craft shelves to display your items, which is huge news for anyone who runs into their base, fills their pockets, and immediately leaves again. Or, those who just want to make their house feel a bit more like a home rather than relying on paintings to decorate the walls.
Each shelf "block" can hold three items to start, and from the screenshot featured on the blog post, it looks like these can be crafted out of numerous materials too. So, don't worry, you'll be able to craft a shelf to suit the aesthetic of your base. Whether that's cherry wood holding your tools, or spruce wood holding all the monster parts you've collected from night time adventures.
You can also power these shelves with redstone, which opens up a few more functions for you to utilise. When interacting with a powered shelf, you'll be able to swap out all three items at once rather than individually. Powered shelves next to each other will also connect to form much longer shelves, and yes, you'll be able to swap out all of these items at once with a single button press too.
A new function for Copper Golems was also revealed, but there's less of an emphasis on organisation and more on decoration. Over time, your Golem will oxidise, and once they reach the maximum oxidation level they will turn into statues for you to decorate your base with.
There are four poses your golem could hold for the rest of time too which yes, you can change if you interact with it. If you want to get a little more work out of them though, and you need the extra pair of hands sorting your chests, you can wax them to bring them back to life.
Unfortunately, we still don't have a name or a release date for this drop. Although the new features are available for testing within Bedrock Edition, I imagine it will still be a while before we see them added to the game. If you're a Java player, these features will be coming to test soon, too.

Kevin James ‘Couldn't Believe' Everybody Loves Raymond Ended Up Being A Hit, And He Explained Why He Thought It Was ‘Death' At First

Everybody Loves Raymond is arguably one of the best sitcoms of all time, and it's still a favorite among fans, thanks to streaming. The show ran for nine seasons and over 200 episodes from 1996 to 2005. While it remains a cultural phenomenon, King of Queens star Kevin James didn't think the show would do all that well. With that, the fan-favorite actor revealed why he didn't think it would actually become a hit. Before James starred on The King of Queens, he appeared on Everybody Loves Raymond (not as Doug Heffernan, though). James was also a writer on the show early into its run. The actor recalled on Kate Hudson and Oliver Hudson's podcast, Sibling Rivalry, how he would follow Ray Romano around when he landed King. James' goal was to learn everything from Romano about how to lead a sitcom. They had also been friends for a while due to their stand-up work. Given his knowledge of Romano's approach, James was puzzled as to how Everybody Loves Raymond came to be: The fact that he got a show, I was like, first of all, I couldn't believe it, because he's such a low-energy guy. Sitcom guys were, to me, like the big, wacky [characters]. I'm like this, this is death. It's not gonna happen. So, all in all, Kevin James didn't seem too sure how the show would work out because he knew what kind of characters and storylines were typically involved in sitcoms. Romano's comedic style didn't quite fit that mold. Despite the comic's low-energy vibe, though, Everybody Loves Raymond clearly ended up doing a lot better than James predicted. So much so that the Grown Ups star ended up going to Romano for advice after he landed his own show: And then it did. And he was so good on his sitcom. And the way he threw things away, I was like, 'Wow, I have to watch him and learn from him, because I'm going to be too big on camera.' And I am, by the way, still even in The King of Queens, when I see episodes now, I'm like 'Gee, throw it away, kid.' I'm like 'Gee-wiz, I wish I could go back and do it.' The fact that Kevin James didn't know how Everybody Loves Raymond would do and basically called it a death sentence is very funny in hindsight. Not only that, but the show arguably could have have aired longer if creator Philip Rosenthal didn't choose to end it when he did. As for The King of Queens, the advice that James got from Romano didn't seem to hurt, since the CBS sitcom also ran for nine seasons from 1998 to 2007, finishing its run with 207 episodes, just three shy of Raymond's total. King is also still quite beloved and is still the subject of a viral meme. Given that we're currently in the age of revivals and spinoffs, it's not surprising that Romano is asked about a reboot quite frequently. Romano admitted in 2024 that he's protective of the series since it's very personal to him, which makes sense. If he were to have a good idea for a revival and Rosenthal were to get on board, I'd be down for it. Of course, for now, fans will have to settle for streaming the '90s show. At the very least, both Everybody Loves Raymond and The King of Queens proved to be successful and heavily contributed to their lead stars' careers. I don't know about you, but I'm glad Kevin James' initial thoughts on Raymond were wrong. At present, grab a Peacock subscription and stream both shows.

Helldivers 2 players ask for better UI with in-game info but joke it "would break 50% of the game," director says "that's mean... and also sadly true" but "we are working on an improved system"

Less than graceful and not always intuitive, it's been a bugbear within the multiplayer shooter's community since it came out back in early 2024. In discussing their hopes for an improved system, players commented that doing so would cause a lot of problems elsewhere within the game's structure. Johan Pilestedt, creative director of Helldivers 2 and CCO of Arrowhead Games Studio, responded to this jab on Reddit, offering agreement and teasing improvements in the pipeline. "Hey! That's mean... and also sadly true. Our UI system is very cumbersome to develop - but we are working on an improved system that will allow us to build in-game UI faster," Pilestedt comments. "Also, we made a decision early to focus on Discord as the primary platform for the community. (As it's what we use internally for playtests and for other games)." The official Helldivers 2 Discord server is a pillar of the playerbase, where people socialize online together and receive updates from the development team. Polls on prospective changes and such are voted on through the server, and players would like more in-game functionality for these features, to make sure as many can vote as possible. Though such a thing may sound simple enough, game development is rarely so simple. As Pilestedt states, editing the UI in any way is currently a difficult proposition. But, from the sounds of things, Arrowhead is working on how to make this easier for everyone, potentially lowering the gap between the players and Discord users in the process. Discord has been an invaluable tool for Helldivers 2's community, especially as the audience scaled up dramatically soon after release. But clearly the overall reliance is something that needs altering, and Arrowhead's working on ways to do that. Watch this space. Who was that big 'Wednesday' villain? Where you've seen the 'avian' before
Spoiler alert! The following contains details from Netflix's "Wednesday" Season 2, Part 1. Well we certainly didn't see that coming. Four episodes into the second season of Netflix's "Wednesday" (Part 1 now streaming), and the season's first villain has been unmasked. It was a shocking and juicy twist to keep fans sated while they wait for the second half of the season to premiere in September (hopefully with 100% more Lady Gaga). The new season sets our fair (literally, just look at how pale she is) hero Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) on a quest to find whoever is threatening the life of her roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers), and murdering people near the campus of Nevermore Academy with the help of, well, a murder of crows. Wednesday suspects that the mystery all revolves around the ominous Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility, an asylum for Outcasts (aka people with supernatural abilities) that currently houses none other than Season 1 villain and secret metamorphizing "Hyde," Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan). Willow Hill is run by the affable "normie" Dr. Rachael Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton), who Wednesday immediately believes may have nefarious intentions. Also on Wednesday's suspect list is new Nevermore teacher Isadora Capri, a musical prodigy slumming it teaching high school students, and who has ties to Willow Hill. Another tale of woe? But not even Wednesday Addams could have guessed that the mysterious "Avian" controlling all those murderous crows was chipper Willow Hill executive assistant Judi Spannegel (Heather Matarazzo), who just happens to be the daughter of Willow Hill's former chief psychiatrist and Nevermore's ex-science teacher, Augustus Stonehurst. With a maniacal grin and perfectly evil black cloak, Judi explains that her father was so fascinated with Outcasts that he kidnapped and experimented on them, trying to claim their powers for himself. All about Enid: 'Wednesday' bestie Emma Myers talks wolfing out, 'Minecraft' memes Poor Gus never managed to make himself magical, but Judi got her powers from her father's mad scientist operation and kept things going, locking away tortured Outcasts in a secret laboratory under Willow Hill. Wednesday and her quirky Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) release the poor traumatized souls, who seem to deal with Judi on her own as the inmates quickly take over the asylum. In the chaos Tyler escapes his bonds, quickly dispenses with his old handler/master/groomer Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci) and goes after Wednesday, throwing her through a second story window and leaving her bleeding on the pavement. The episode ends with Wednesday's fate left unresolved. Where have you seen Heather Matarazzo before? When Judi first appears in the season she's wearing a cheesy sweater and gleefully chirping to Wednesday about the genius of Dr. Fairburn and her love for Outcasts. But if you're wondering where you've seen her before, the actress is best known for her work in 1990s and 2000s films like "The Princess Diaires" (2001) and "Welcome to the Dollhouse" (1995). In "Diaires" Matarazzo, 42, played protagonist Mia's (Anne Hathaway) quirky best friend Lilly. The actress has had less work in the past few years, and discussed her difficulties working in Hollywood on social media. "I feel at a loss because I feel I have done THE WORK, for a long time, with no complaint,' she wrote in a series of tweets on X, then Twitter, in 2022. "I have taken the disappointments, the rejections, etc., and maintained that rejection is redirection. I have had continual FAITH in the Universe, but today, something broke." In 2017, the actress shared similar sentiments with The Guardian. "I don't know if I took a step back from Hollywood," she said. "Or Hollywood took a step back from me." Matarazzo also shared in the interview that she previously considered suicide in 2009, after months of unsuccessful auditions. "I was like, 'What kind of sick and twisted universe is this?'" she recalled. "The fact that I'm still here is a miracle in itself." Is Judi the only 'Wednesday' villain? Wednesday unmasks Judi only four episodes into the eight episode season, which will conclude on Sept. 3. But there are still many unanswered questions. Was Judi working alone? Who is Slurp, the zombie Wednesday's kid-brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez) accidentally brought back to life? When will Lady Gaga show up? What will Tyler get up to now that he's free? And will Wednesday survive her fall? Mother Monster is coming: Lady Gaga fans will have to wait to see her in Netflix's 'Wednesday' As far as the last question goes, we're pretty sure that she will make a miraculous recovery. Afterall, there's no "Wednesday" on Netflix without Wednesday Addams.
