Last One Laughing's future decided by Amazon as host Jimmy Carr speaks out
Prime Video's Last One Laughing was a hit when it came out earlier this year. It saw 8 Out of 10 Cats star Jimmy Carr assembled ten of the UK's top comedians in one room with one impossible challenge: Don't laugh.
However, in a twist, the host set them a challenge of making each other laugh, although they couldn't chuckle themselves. Although the comedian's couldn't laugh - the audiences were left in stitches.
The first series saw comedians Richard Ayoade and Bob Mortimer in the final, and it looks like fans can look forward to yet another hilarious final as the show has been recommissioned for a second series.
Speaking about the future of the show, Jimmy said: "I'm absolutely delighted that Last One Laughing is coming back for a second series. I think what's happened is someone high up at Amazon has clicked 'subscribe & save' on Prime Video and, hey presto, we're back in business.
"I'm so pleased people had as much fun watching the first season as we had making it. Can't wait to bask in the reflected glory of the next 10 comedy legends taking on the challenge."
The second series will see Jimmy returning to the hosting seat alongside a new line-up of comedians which will be announced in due course. Filming is due to take place later this year with the series launching in 2026 on Prime Video worldwide.
Last One Laughing UK is the latest adaptation of the successful Amazon Original series from Japan entitled Documental, created by and starring Hitoshi Matsumoto and owned by Yoshimoto Kogyo and has been a hit around the globe.
So much so that the format became the most watched title of all time on Prime Video in France, Germany and Italy, and had hugely successful local versions in over 20 territories.
Last year's final saw Richard and Bob climb onto Merry-go-round ponies while Bob read from his joke book. However, Richard soon realised that he had made a grave error by allowing Bob to perform jokes.
"What I now realise I'd done was essentially sign up to be in goal and just have someone take penalty after penalty after penalty," he said. "I had nothing and he was on a horse opposite me with a pocket full of material," the IT Crowd star said.
It was Bob who eventually took the win, with fans claiming the show was the "best piece of comedy they'd ever seen." They're sure to gain a whole load of new laughs with series 2!

Yes, after months of speculation, Amazon Prime Video has finally announced which comedians will be trying to tease a titter out of their friends and colleagues in Last One Laughing season 2. At the Edinburgh TV festival, it was revealed that next year's all-star line-up includes Alan Carr, Amy Gledhill, David Mitchell, Diane Morgan, Maisie Adam, Mel Giedroyc, Romesh Ranganathan, Sam Campbell and Gbemisola Ikumelo. Jimmy Carr and Roisin Conaty are also back to make sure the comedians stick to the rules and eliminate anyone who dares to let out the slightest snigger. However, what's really interesting is that a fan favourite from the first season is set to return. The reigning LOL UK champion, Bob Mortimer, is back. What's Bob doing in the Last One Laughing house again? Well, he's here to defend his title, of course! The first season of Last One Laughing UK was a mega hit for Amazon when it was released in March this year. The show – which sees ten professional comedians trying to make each other laugh without laughing themselves – broke several records for the streaming service. According to Barb, the first three episodes were watched by more than 6 million people and quickly topped Prime Video's UK top 10 chart, even overtaking megahits like Reacher. Our deputy TV editor shares his thoughts on which comedian is most likely to walk away the winner with some odd footballing/sports metaphor thrown in for fun… Alan Carr – Too big a name, so will be a prime target for the others. I can see him being one of the first out. Bob Mortimer – Sorry, Bob, I don't think you're going to win twice. I'm predicting a mid-table finish for the reigning champ. Romesh Ranganathan – On paper, Romesh seems like he could go all the way, but his high profile means he's going to be a target. Likely out by episodes 5-6. Sam Campbell – A finalist in the making, Sam's turn on Taskmaster proved he's got the deadpan charm to go all the way. Diane Morgan – A dark horse, Diane's very funny and good at keeping herself composed. Another potential finalist. David Mitchell – I predict David will find himself in trouble early doors; he's too well known for his composure, so the other comedians will be gunning for him. If he doesn't crack in eps one to three, expect to see him make it to the final four. Maisie Adam – I could never doubt a fellow Northener. She's going to the final 4, no doubt. Mel Giedroyc – Mel, the majority of the Metro ents desk thinks you're the first one out, and I hate to bow to peer pressure, but they're probably right. Amy Gledhill – A relative newcomer, Amy's won Best Show at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe, so you'd be a fool to underestimate her. Gbemisola Ikumelo – They don't give Baftas to just anyone, and the Famalam star is sure to give the other comedians a run for their money. A late finish for sure. It's perhaps unsurprising then that Amazon quickly commissioned a second season, especially when you consider fan reaction. All-female period drama is 'Great Gatsby meets murder mystery' from 28 Years Later director
Prime Video have released a new trailer with a Marvel star in a very different role A new all-female period drama is already being described as 'Great Gatsby meets murder mystery' as its first trailer is finally released. Prime Video have given fans their very first look at upcoming release Hedda. The film comes from acclaimed horror director Nia DaCosta, who also penned the screenplay. DaCosta is known for previously helming The Candyman remake, The Marvels, along with 28 Years Later sequel The Bone Temple. It features MCU star Tessa Thompson in the leading role as Hedda Gabler, a role previously performed on stage in Henrik Ibsen's play by the likes of Maggie Smith, Rosamund Pike, Cate Blanchett plus film versions starring Ingrid Bergman, Game of Throne's Dame Diana Rigg; and Glenda Jackson who earned an Oscar nomination. This latest adaptation promises a provocative, modern reimagining of the classic play. This includes transforming it into a bold thriller with an all-female central trio, and twisted love triangle set in 50s London. Hedda finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. Over the course of one charged night, long-repressed desires and hidden tensions erupt, this pulls her and everyone around her into a spiral of manipulation, passion, and betrayal. Thompson will star opposite Imogen Poots, star of Da Vinci's Demons Tom Bateman, Long Bright River's Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss who has previously appeared in Tar and Homeland. Fans will actually get the chance to see Hedda on the big screen just before it hits streaming. Amazon is releasing it in select cinemas from October 22 but it becomes available on Prime Video from October 29. DaCosta has already spoken out about what makes her version of Hedda different. She told Vanity Fair: "I thought that this character was terrifying, but also how brave to write a character like this, who is to me, at least unredeemable and does horrible things, but you're telling it from her perspective and have huge empathy for her." However, interpretations and adaptations she saw, at least she felt, had something missing. She continued: "I liked it, but I thought, This is not as funny or dark or sexy as what I read or what I felt when I was reading it. So I was like, 'Wouldn't it be cool to do a movie where I make all the subtext text?'" Fans are already excited about Hedda's release. One commented on the trailer's post on YouTube saying: "This trailer is giving me The Great Gatsby meets murder mystery vibes and I'm HERE FOR IT." Another added: "Wow this looks fantastic! So in for Tessa! Glad to see Nia DaCosta get more work too after Candyman."

‘I'm a Fallout fan and season two's trailer has one thing that stands out'
Prime Video has released the first trailer for Fallout season two, and fans of the franchise are saying the same thing Fallout (Season 2): Official trailer I was a late adopter of the hit videogame series - I didn't play any entry until 2015, after Fallout 4 was released. But once I got in, I was hooked. Fallout 3 was my first game - and it was brilliant. From Liam Neeson's surprising voice acting, to the gut-wrenching decisions you're forced to make along the way. I went on to try Fallout 4 within weeks of closing out the prequel's story, which was also thrilling although not quite as good as the previous game. Then, I came back chronologically to try Fallout: New Vegas. And I felt like I'd found my videogame soulmate. Everything about this game was perfect for me. From the setting, to the hilarious dialogue - especially during one downloadable extra storyline, which if you know, you know - it was as if developers had entered my brain and come out with the sci-fi/RPG hybrid I didn't know I was dreaming of. So when the game franchise was to be developed into a television series, I was equal parts excited and cautious. Videogames seldom translated well into adaptations on the screen. But Prime Video 's first season of Fallout was so good, I couldn't stop myself binge watching. And then, that ending. The tease at the end of season one hinting at a journey to New Vegas had me and many, many fans deliriously giddy. And now we get our first look at what season two entails thanks to the first trailer, my anticipation has gone into hyper drive. While watching the 2-minute-long trailer, I could barely contain myself. And then when I finished, one thing became abundantly clear. This is likely to be one of the most faithful adaptations of a videogame setting I can recall. Almost every detail of New Vegas has been painstakingly recreated for the series. From the town of Novac's Dinky Dinosaur - the mouth of which, protagonist Lucy (Ella Purnell) can be seen sniping from like a popular in-game character - to the first look at a Deathclaw, the franchise' most feared radioactive abomination. Mr House, the game's puppetmaster, is back and better thanks to the 'impeccable' recasting of the role to Justin Theroux, and Caesar's Legion - a feared faction in game - is also present. As a huge Fallout fan, I don't think we could have asked for more. But it's not just me saying that. Users on Reddit have taken to r/Fallout and r/FOTV to voice their delight at the new trailer. One fan summed up all of our thoughts: They wrote: 'Legion. Mr House. Deathclaw. A gorgeous New Vegas. Sign me up.' Another added: 'Everything looks really great and visually it somehow looks even more impressive than the first season.' More users were excited about the inclusion of fan favourite game characters, like Victor the robot cowboy. One fan said they had 'chills', adding: 'This is everything I was hoping for. She's even sniping off of Dinky.'
