Nurse who allegedly poisoned husband to be with killer is jailed
Amy Murray, 47, accepted a deal from prosecutors in Alford, US, entering a plea to murder, arson and tampering with evidence charges on June 25, according to court records.
In Alford, when a defendant pleads they accept a conviction but maintain their innocence, The New York Post reported.
A judge sentenced Missouri nurse Murray to 12 years on the murder charge along with seven years for the arson and four years for tampering with evidence.
All of the sentences will run concurrently.
Murray killed her husband, 37-year-old Joshua, in late 2018. He was found dead in the smouldering remnants of a house fire his wife had set.
Authorities learned Joshua's blood contained elevated amounts of antifreeze, and three months after his death, arrested his wife, according to an affidavit.
Murray, the couple's child and their two dogs had left their home in Iberia just 30 minutes prior to the start of the fire.
Investigators soon learned Murray had frequent contact with a prisoner named Eugene Claypool.
Murray worked as a nurse at the Jefferson City Correctional Center, where Claypool's serving 25 years to life for murder, the affidavit said.
In recorded calls, Murray told Claypool she was tired of her marriage.
After her husband's death, Murray told the inmate they could get married now that Joshua was 'out of the picture'.

Pheobe Bishop: Third charged after death of missing Bundaberg teen
A third person has been charged in relation to the alleged murder of Pheobe Bishop. Police allege 30-year-old Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser used the teenager's phone to interfere with their investigation following her death. The Bundaberg man was arrested shortly after 7pm on Tuesday in Bundaberg West and has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder. He is also charged with driving without a licence, fraud, and possessing drugs. Police allege 30-year-old Kieren Daniel Mittelheuser used the teenager's phone to interfere with their investigation following her death. Picture: Supplied / QLD Police On Wednesday, police released bodycam footage of the arrest, showing at least four officers surrounding a man dressed in shorts, thongs, and a grey jumper as he stands behind a silver coloured car outside a fast food restaurant. He is then seen placing his hands behind his back as officers handcuff him. On Wednesday, police released bodycam footage of the arrest, showing at least four officers surrounding a man as he stands behind a silver coloured car outside a fast food restaurant. Picture: Supplied / QLD Police Mr Mittelheuser will appear at Bundaberg Magistrates Court later on Wednesday. Pheobe, 17, disappeared on her way to Bundaberg Airport on May 15. She was flying to Western Australia via Brisbane to visit her boyfriend. A third person has been charged in relation to the death of Pheobe Bishop. Picture Facebook Her housemates at the time, James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33, are both charged with murder and interfering with a corpse in relation to the teenager's disappearance. Police allege the pair killed Pheobe and moved her body 'more than once' afterwards. They remain before the courts. Pheobe's disappearance triggered a widespread search, with her family turning to social media in a desperate appeal for information about her location and safe return. Police focused their initial investigation on the home the teenager shared in a small town about 50km west of Bundaberg, where forensic teams searched the property for any sign of her. Tanika Bromley lived at the Gin Gin address with her partner James Wood and Pheobe. Mr Woods has been charged with murder. Search efforts then shifted to bushland in Good Night Scrub National Park, with crews combing the area for clues. Detectives revealed there was no evidence Pheobe had been dropped off at Bundaberg Airport, as initially claimed. Acting Police Inspector Ryan Thompson said investigators were looking into reports that Pheobe had been involved in an argument with someone in a car and was allegedly forced out. She had not contacted anyone since she went missing, and there had been no activity on her bank accounts since that day. On May 27, Inspector Thompson said police were investigating whether evidence had been removed from the initial search site after receiving new information. On June 6, human remains were discovered during the search, and Pheobe's family later confirmed they belonged to the missing teenager. On Monday, Pheobe's family and friends gathered for a private, emotionally charged funeral following a series of community vigils held in her memory. More to come.

‘Ongoing pain': SA Police issue fresh appeal to crack cold case disappearance, murder of mum and daughter
Police have made a fresh plea for information in a 25-year-old cold case involving the disappearance of a teenager and the unsolved murder of her mother, with a $1m reward now being offered to help crack the case. Rosemary Brown, 33 and her daughter Melissa, 15, were last seen leaving their Blair Athol home, near Adelaide, about 2.30am on May 13, 2000. The pair were reported missing by Ms Brown's friends the following day and a major crime was declared about a week later. On July 2 that same year, Ms Brown's body was found in mangroves at Garden Island. Melissa's remains have never been found. In a renewed appeal for help to solve the case, Major Crime Investigation Branch Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke urged anyone with information to come forward, no matter how insignificant it may seem. 'This is a particularly disturbing case. A mother was murdered and her body disposed of, (and) we believe Melissa was also murdered,' he said. 'It's tragic for the family of Rosemary and Melissa to experience this long passage of time with no answers about what happened to their loved ones. 'I have no doubt that numerous people either know what happened to Rosemary and Melissa or have information that will assist the investigation into their suspected murder. 'We appeal to them to contact police and provide that information.' No-one has ever been charged with any offences in relation to the disappearance of Ms Brown or Melissa. 'As you can imagine, that's 25 years of ongoing pain and suffering for the family, not knowing what has happened to Rosemary or Melissa, and also not allowing the family the ability to lay Melissa to rest,' he said. 'I have no doubt at all that there are people out there that know what happened to Melissa and Rosemary and have information that may assist the investigation into their disappearance and murder.' Sergeant Fielke said they identified persons of interest over the years and investigations were conducted on those people, but they never had enough evidence or information to lay charges. He said they had reviewed evidence and conducted DNA testing on items that had been seized in relation to the suspected double homicide. 'A handbag was found in the days after they were reported missing (which) will be resubjected to forensic testing,' he said. 'We're following some positive lines of inquiry, but we can always have more information, and sometimes it's those little pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that we're looking for to put it all together. 'We never give up on these things, and we'll always look for persons of interest or suspects in this case.' Sergeant Fielke said after two decades friendships and allegiances may have faltered or splintered and there could be people who wanted to get something off their chest. 'We think there are people that will know information, and the passage of time actually might help that, because they're not so tied to who they were 25 years ago,' he said. The South Australian government is offering a $1m reward for information and assistance leading to a conviction of the person, or persons, responsible for Melissa's suspected murder. A $200,000 reward is also being offered for information relating to Rosemary's murder. Melissa's father Barry and half-sister Kayla recently visited the last believed location of Melissa and her mother on Stirling St in Northfield remember her. Kalya said Melissa was her best friend and hoped to give her the farewell she deserved. 'We need to know where she is and what happened to her,' Kayla pleaded. 'We want to see the person or people who have caused our pain brought to justice.' Melissa's father Barry said he believed more than one person was involved in his daughter's disappearance. 'My message to the people responsible, because I don't believe it to be just one person: it's better to come forward now with information,' he said. 'A parent shouldn't outlive their child … and for a long time (Melissa's disappearance) has messed me up.

Woman falls while trying to cross opening drawbridge
A woman has been seriously injured after a drawbridge in Florida began lifting while she was still walking across it, sending her plummeting to the ground. The terrifying incident occurred just before 10:45am on Saturday, when police were called to the Brickell Avenue Bridge in Miami. According to authorities, the bridge started to open for passing boats just as the woman had reached the second half of the bridge. In footage captured by horrified onlookers the unidentified woman can be seen clinging to railings of the bridge before losing her grip and falling. A witness named Conor Walsh told CBS News Miami that he had been on a run when he saw the incident unfold. 'She got halfway up, she was holding onto the side, and then she just dropped,' he said. 'She dropped, I don't know, about three-quarters of the bridge, and then she landed. Her shins went through her knee caps and she was on the ground, kind of in shock.' Another witness, Robert Bruno, told the Miami Herald that he caught the incident on his phone and was in disbelief. 'It was something that I have always thought happening like, 'What would I do?'' he said. 'The woman held on for dear life.' Emergency crews rushed to the scene, and the woman was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with serious leg injuries. One of the officers who attended also suffered a cut to the hand from broken glass and was admitted to hospital for treatment. Miami police spoke with a man who claimed the woman had been on the bridge earlier that morning, according to CBS News. Further footage shows at least eight police cars and one fire truck stationed at the scene as investigators continued to collect evidence. Authorities are yet to release the woman's identity, and the circumstances leading up to the incident remain under investigation. In 2022, a 79-year-old grandmother was killed while crossing a Florida drawbridge as it opened. Carol Wright was within 10 feet of the drawbridge's barrier arms that halt traffic when it started to rise, police told the Palm Beach Post at the time. Despite trying to hold on, she fell 15 metres and tragically died on impact. The 43-year-old bridge operator plead guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to eight years of probation and 200 hours of community service.
