The last days of the month continue to look very warm and humid for most of the Maritimes.
In Nova Scotia, heat warnings have expanded and are now in place for northern and central parts of the province, as well as the Annapolis Valley and parts of the South Shore.
Environment Canada says daytime temperatures may reach up to 31 degrees Monday through Wednesday, though the humidex will make it feel closer to 38.
'A very warm and humid air mass will settle over the region for the next few days. Little relief is expected at night with elevated overnight temperatures. Conditions will begin moderating Thursday,' the warning reads.
It's a similar story in New Brunswick, though conditions will begin to moderate on Wednesday as a cold front moves through.
Heat warnings remain in effect for central and southeastern parts of the province where temperatures will hover around 30 degrees Monday and Tuesday, with humidex values around 36.
No heat warnings have been issued for Prince Edward Island. It is expected to be 26 degrees in Charlottetown on Monday and 28 on Tuesday.

CFL's Blue Bombers monitor smoky air ahead of Friday's CFL game

The CFL and Winnipeg Blue Bombers say they're monitoring air quality ahead of Friday's scheduled game against the Toronto Argonauts. Forest fire smoke from northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba has drifted into the Manitoba capital. Winnipeg's air quality health index was at 10-plus — or very high risk — as of 10 a.m. CT. The game at Princess Auto Stadium was still set for 7:30 p.m., with air quality expected to improve throughout the day, the league and team said in a news release. The CFL's air quality policy states that if the air quality health index reaches eight or higher, which Environment Canada deems high risk, during warm-ups or the game, players will be sent to their dressing rooms. All CFL stadiums are equipped with real-time air-quality monitoring systems, and an update was expected in the afternoon.

Air quality warnings issued as Manitoba, northwestern Ontario battle wildfire smoke

Trees burned by wildfires in northern Manitoba are shown during a helicopter tour in the surrounding area of Flin Flon, Man. on Thursday, June 12, 2025. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Mike Deal-Pool WINNIPEG — Air quality warnings are in effect for Manitoba as wildfire smoke continues to blanket much of the province. Environment Canada says Winnipeg and the city of Flin Flon in the province's northwest are expected to see air quality health index ratings of over 10. The agency also says Brandon, in western Manitoba, is expected to see high risk conditions. The warnings come as the province is dealing with 136 active wildfires, with 19 considered out of control. Wildfire smoke is also lingering over northwestern Ontario, with an air quality warning for Thunder Bay and a forecast for moderately risky conditions heading into Saturday. Environment Canada says the smoke is expected to cause reduced visibility and people are advised to limit their time outdoors. This report by The Canadian Press was first published Aug. 1, 2025.
