In July, at the Presidents Ball, a Black queer celebration inspired by the optimism of the Obama era, Ms. Rowe and Ms. Bailey, along with their partners, found themselves conversing about Blessence, Ms. Bailey's online magazine for lesbians of color that ran from 2008 to 2011.
A few months later, in November, Ms. Rowe unexpectedly walked in on Ms. Bailey in a bathroom stall at a club. 'It was a very awkward moment,' Ms. Bailey said. But Ms. Rowe broke the tension with a playful, flirtatious remark: 'Everyone wants to be locked in a toilet with Jai Henrietta.'

There was drama at Manchester Airport this morning (August 15), as two planes 'clipped wings' shortly before they were due to take off. The easyJet planes, one bound for Gibraltar and one for Paris, were on their way to the runway when they made contact with each other at around 6.30am. Airport fire crews and specialist workers responded, and all flights were temporarily halted as a precaution while safety checks took place. Whilst workers on a cherry picker could also be seen examining one plane's wing tip, part of which came off. The jets eventually returned to the stand and passengers were disembarked with new aircraft secured for their flights. The Manchester Evening News has taken a detailed look at what happened So what exactly has happened here? After leaving the terminal planes travel along a long-running taxiway. Between this and the runway, are what look like 'spurs', which sit at a 45 degree angle to the taxiway. These small lanes form the route planes take to the runway, and are where planes will wait before being given the all-clear to take off. In this incident, it is understood there were two planes waiting on one 'spur', which the M.E.N. understands is not and unusual. According to reports, the rearmost of these two had come to a halt with its wing slightly overhanging the main section of the taxiway. The wing of another plane, coming along the main section of the taxiway, is then understood to have collided with this overhanging bit of wing. What have passengers said? Passengers have described a 'bang', a 'thud' and the planes 'shaking' and 'vibrating' following the impact. Phil Aspin, who was on the was on the Gibraltar-bound plane, said the other aircraft 'went straight into the side of us.' "We were just stationary at the time," he said. "There was a massive thud, and the whole plane shook. "My friend who was sitting next to the wing saw a piece of it fly across his window. There were lots of bits of wing on the floor, then a guy came and picked them up. "It was a bit surreal. The pilot was talking to us at the time, saying we'd be taking off soon, then he went silent for a bit. He then said 'there has been some sort of incident, and we're going to have to assess it.'" Mr Aspin said both planes looked 'pretty done for.' Tynisha Chaudhry, who was on the same aircraft, said: "We were sat stationary when we felt it. It felt like being rear-ended in a car crash. It was a massive thud. A big bang. It came from nowhere on the right-hand side. The plane felt like it moved to the left. "I was resting my head on the wall next to the window and it came off the wall. It was like a recoil. We just weren't expecting it. "I looked out and could see there was another plane and that the wings had clipped. It was quite shocking." Greg Cawood, who was on the Paris-bound plane, said: "It felt like we were braking really hard. Like someone had slammed the brakes on a car. We then came to a stop. "There was a bit of vibration, but planes do vibrate, so I initially didn't think anything was untoward." He said they were initially told it was a 'technical issue' before being told there had been a 'strike' with the wing of another aircraft. A passenger on one of the aircraft told the M.E.N that their pilot had told passengers that 'the other plane was not quite where it should be.' Who is responsible for different parts of the airport process? Investigations are currently underway as to exactly how the two planes came to collide on the taxiway, but the M.E.N. understands there was nothing unusual reported in how either plane was dispatched from its terminal. Usually, once all passengers have safely boarded an aircraft, a signal is issued to the airline or the pilot informing them they can proceed to the runway. They are told by the airport which part of the runway to head towards, and which route they should take to get there. Once the plane reaches the runway, it becomes the responsibility of air traffic control - which will dictate when it is safe for an aircraft to take off. So what happens now? EasyJet said that an 'immediate investigation has been launched to understand what happened.' The Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) - who investigate 'civil aircraft accidents and serious incidents' in the UK - said they have been notified about the incident. A spokesperson told the M.E.N: "The Air Accident Investigations Branch has been notified of the incident and is assessing its response.' The Manchester Evening News understands that both planes were released as normal prior to the collision. What have an easyJet said? They said in a statement: "EasyJet can confirm that the wing tips of two aircraft came into contact whilst taxiing to the runway at Manchester Airport this morning. "The aircraft returned to stand to disembark customers who have been provided with refreshment vouchers whilst replacement aircraft are arranged to operate the flights. "We apologise to customers for the delay to their flights. "The safety of our passengers and crew is our highest priority.' An airline spokesperson said they were unable to go into the specifics of the incident or comment further while an investigation is ongoing.

The Fortune Hotel feud erupts over £250,000 prize money
Guv and Gurks told Yahoo UK that they had off-screen beef with fellow contestants Maz and Max An off-camera feud broke out between two of the pairs at The Fortune Hotel, the ITV show hosted by Stephen Mangan. Guv and Gurks told Yahoo UK that they had beef with fellow contestants Maz and Max over the £250,000 fortune in the Caribbean. The reality show's premise is similar to The Traitors because it's ruthless. Contestants are swapping briefcases to try and find the one containing the £250,000. One of the main differences between The Fortune Hotel and The Traitors is the sun-scorched setting in Grenada. Best friends Guv and Gurks, who were the latest to receive the early checkout card, said their rivals Maz and Max took it a little bit "personally" when they grilled them over whether they had the money in their briefcase. Asked about what happens off camera, Guv said: "OK, so this ties into why we have a beef with Maz and Max! Sometimes it's like you can be so involved in gameplay that when it is time to switch off — let's say we have our breaks, we have our lunches, our breakfasts — you can sometimes overthink it a bit too much with how people are. "So if you're going in [to The Fortune Hotel], I'd say to you, don't worry about that too much, enjoy your lunch, enjoy your food. When it's time to switch off, switch off." In good humour, Guv and Gurks had a good laugh about how they were still feuding even now. The Fortune Hotel feud The feud started when Guv and Gurks had narrowed it down to two couples who potentially had the money in their briefcase — Maz and Max or fortune holders Fred and Min. They said that Fred and Min were "lovely" people who didn't get upset when they asked them about the money. However, Guv said Maz and Max took it a bit "more personal" when they questioned them over the fortune. Gurks explained: "It was the way they [Maz and Max] were acting differently towards us. And because their whole energy shifted at one point. That was literally it." Their change in attitude actually made Guv and Gurks think Maz and Max did have the money. He added: "We were certain it was Fred and Min [who had the money] but because Maz and Max's energy switched off, then we were like it has to be them! We ran with that literally. We didn't hold back. We just fully went for it." Final edit Filming long hours for a reality show means not everything makes the final edit of the show. "I say to people that you're seeing 50% of what's actually happening," Guv said. He added: "Obviously they had to chop it all up and you're probably wondering as a viewer, between episode one and two, what has Maz and Max done to Guv and Gurks? You haven't seen any interaction. We all speak [outside of what is shown on the show] so you have to take that into account. We were cool and then we did see a shift in energy. It was never personal." The best friends were just playing the game. After that, the happy-go-lucky stars felt like they had a target on their backs but they had "no regrets". "Everything happens for a reason," Gurks said. The Traitors vs The Fortune Hotel Guv and Gurks admitted the main difference between The Fortune Hotel and The Traitors was its sunny filming location compared to the Scottish castle. Recently, Yahoo UK spoke to The Fortune Hotel host Mangan and he set out how the reality shows were different too. He told Yahoo UK: "I think they are very different games. I can see why people want to talk about them. It's Oasis and Blur, isn't it? People will have their favourites. "Ours has the sunshine and the speedboats and the sand, and the games are very different and there's a lot more money at stake in The Fortune Hotel. "But hey, it's very flattering. The Traitors is hugely popular, so, it's all good. Hopefully they'll both run side-by-side for a while to go." The Fortune Hotel airs at 9pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

This Trump critic wants Gloria Gaynor to turn down Kennedy Center Honors
President Donald Trump's Kennedy Center Honors selections are set, but one critic is urging a recipient to turn it down. Trump announced the five honorees on Wednesday, Aug. 13: Sylvester Stallone, George Strait, Michael Crawford, KISS and Gloria Gaynor. But in an Instagram post Aug. 14, "The View" Co-host Ana Navarro called on Gaynor, in particular, to reject the honor. Navarro recalled meeting the "I Will Survive" singer at a Miami concert, where she was gifted a keychain that played the iconic disco anthem. She said during the "first Trump term, I pressed it til it ran out of batteries." "Look, the woman is a goddess and deserves all the flowers that come her way," Navarro, 53, added. "But I wish she wouldn't accept an award from the hands of a man who has attacked the rights and history of women, people of color and LGBTQ (people)." The political strategist continued: "The gay community, in particular, helped turn her signature song into an anthem. Trump is a stain on the prestige and significance of the KCH. Don't do it, Gloria!" Trump, who named himself chairman of the Kennedy Center earlier this year, said he was pretty involved in the selection process and also plans to host the honors after organizers allegedly begged him to fill the role, arguing he would bring better ratings. KISS frontman Gene Simmons, who has previously called out the president, said he was "deeply honored" by the recognition, according to a statement to TMZ that was confirmed by Billboard. Singer and guitarist Paul Stanley added the honor "cannot be overstated," while former guitarist Ace Frehley called it a "dream come true that I never thought would materialize." KISS' former drummer Peter Criss said, "I feel so blessed. This is the greatest honor of our career." The show will air later this year on CBS. In February, Trump announced a massive overhaul at the Kennedy Center, which included the termination of multiple board of trustees members, including Chairman David Rubenstein.
