YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – It is with both sadness and celebration of a well-lived life that we announce the passing of Richard H. Johnson, Sr., a beloved father, brother and friend, who departed from us on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Richard was born, to the union of John, Sr. and Erabell Wingo-Johnson on September 21, 1944, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Upon relocating to Youngstown, Ohio, Richard continued to live a full life, marked by his unwavering commitment to family, community and his work in property management and real estate.
Richard was known for his friendly demeanor and having the uncanny ability to connect with others. He embraced life's challenges with courage and humor, always making those around him feel valued and appreciated. Richard loved sharing stories and often found joy in simple moments with family and friends.
Family meant everything to Richard and he took immense pride in his role as a father. He is survived by his children, son, Richard Johnson, II; daughter, Tremaine 'Nicie' Jenkins and sons, William (Erika Johnson-Crues) H. Crues and Anthony Crues. He is also mourned by a wide circle of siblings, Levon (Jacqui) Hayes, Jimmy (Judy) Johnson, Carolyn Williams, Sarah Johnson-Silva and Muriel (Chris) Whitfield, who will forever cherish his memory. He is also deeply and fondly remembered by, Albertha Rogers-McMillan, his loving companion; along with a score of family and friends.
Richard has now become reunited in eternity with his parents and brother, John Johnson, Jr. and assumes his seat at the ancestral table.
As we remember Richard, we celebrate his life, his achievements and the love he shared with everyone around him. Let's come together to reflect on fond memories, lift each other up and ensure that his legacy of love and compassion continues to inspire us all.
Join the Johnson Family in honoring Richard's legacy during the time of family visitation at 10:00 a.m., at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Avenue on Monday, June 2, 2025. The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Lewis Macklin as the celebrant.
After a committal ceremony, Richard's final resting place will be at Tod Homestead Cemetery, 2200 Belmont Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44505.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kelly Sumner Anderson II, who departed this life on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. Born on May 7, 1979, in Youngstown, Ohio, Kelly brought light and laughter to all who knew him. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. Kelly dedicated much of his life to his work as a roofer, employed by Noam, where he was known for his hard work and dedication. He was not just a skilled laborer but a vibrant part of the Youngstown community. He had an unmistakable appreciation for the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Kelly's zest for life and passion for sports inspired his family and friends, especially sparking a love of baseball in his nieces. Kelly was a member of the Brothers of the Hammer Motorcycle Club and was known as Eight Ball. Kelly was raised in a loving family and he is survived by his devoted mother, Brenda Anderson; his caring father, Kelly Anderson; his companion, Frances Robles and bonus children, Juliette Cochran and Edgar Negrom, Jr. and his siblings, Tyneshia Jones-Stephenson and Kenda Anderson. He will also be dearly missed by his nieces, Nya Anderson, Trinityee Stephenson and Ja'Nele Stephenson; as well as his nephew, Marquis Stephenson. As we gather to remember Kelly, we will cherish the memories and the joy he brought into this world. ‘I've missed her so much': Alpharetta woman detained by ICE for weeks released on bond
An Alpharetta woman who immigration agents arrested and detained for more than three weeks is free and back with her husband. A judge in El Paso, Texas, granted Daniela Joly Landin a $10,000 bond Wednesday, allowing her to return with her husband to Georgia. 'It was a very special and emotional moment,' her husband, Richard Landin, said, speaking with Channel 2's Bryan Mims from a hotel room in El Paso. His mother recorded video of the two walking out of the facility. Smiling and teary-eyed, they embraced one another. Daniela and Richard met online and were married on Feb. 8 in Alpharetta. Daniela is 24 years old and from Colombia. She entered the United States in May 2024, presented herself to the U.S. Border Patrol, and applied for asylum. Her husband said violent paramilitary groups in Colombia put her life in danger. 'They kill people for really just about any justification they can come up with,' Richard said. But a judge denied her asylum application, so she appealed to the Board of Immigration Appeals, which has not yet heard her case. Her husband said on May 12, three Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents knocked on their apartment door, saying Daniela had an order for deportation because her asylum was denied. She spent about two weeks at the Stewart Detention Center in Columbus but was transferred to the El Paso Service Processing Center in Texas. But he said under the Trump administration, ICE agents have been more aggressive, pursuing undocumented immigrants who have been in the country less than two years, whether they've broken any laws or not. 'Two years is kind of an arbitrary marker that this administration is using, but basically when someone's been here less than two years, they consider them prime candidates for expedited removals,' Manji said. Richard, who talked with Daniela on the phone daily, said the El Paso facility was overcrowded, making living conditions difficult. 'It was so packed that there weren't any beds left for new arrivals,' he said. 'So, there was a fair amount of them sleeping on the floor.' Dustin Baxter, the attorney who worked to provide Daniela a bond hearing, said the judge granted bond because, 'she's always complied with everything immigration has asked her to do.' She has attended all of her court appearances and filed all paperwork on time, he said. In immigration court, defendants have to pay bonds in full and in cash. Richard said he used his savings, donations from family, and a GoFundMe campaign to raise money. Speaking in Spanish, Daniela said she's grateful for everyone who helped in her case, calling this an answered prayer. Mims sent emails to the Department of Homeland Security seeking a statement about this case, but has not yet received a response. As for Daniela's appeal of her asylum denial, her attorneys said that it could take months, or even years, depending on the backlog of cases facing the Board of Immigration Appeals. 'Asylum is very difficult to obtain,' he said. 'The bar is extremely high, barring that she was specifically targeted for persecution.' Her husband is also petitioning for Daniela to gain permanent legal residency because she's married to a U.S. citizen. For now, he's overjoyed to have her in his arms again. 'Honestly, it's a blessing,' he said. 'It's like an absolute miracle to have her back because I've missed her so much these three weeks. I feel like I'm whole again when I'm with her.'
