Jackson State player quickly decides against transfer portal
Nathan Rembert, one of the most dynamic wide receivers in HBCU football, is officially staying put at Jackson State University after briefly entering the NCAA transfer portal. The First Team All-SWAC performer made headlines last week when he announced via social media that he intended to leave JSU, despite having completed spring practice with the Tigers. However, Rembert has now reversed course, signaling his commitment to remain in Jackson for the 2025 season.
'I will not be entering the transfer portal,' Rembert posted on Monday to his 'X' account.
Rembert originally transferred to Jackson State from Mississippi Valley State University, where he delivered a breakout 2024 campaign. As a sophomore at MVSU, he recorded 70 receptions for 1,083 yards and four touchdowns, including a dominant performance against Florida A&M in which he posted seven catches for 130 yards and a score-helping lead his team to a shocking upset victory.
After announcing his transfer to JSU on January 1, 2025, expectations soared. His speed, route-running, and ability to show up in big moments made him a prized addition to a Jackson State offense that already led the SWAC with 36.4 points per game in 2024.
While Rembert's brief departure stirred uncertainty, his renewed commitment is a major win for JSU. His decision to remain with the program adds depth and explosiveness to an already dangerous receiving corps. With the 2025 season on the horizon, Rembert is poised to finally make his mark in a Tigers uniform-and this time, it should be one that shows up in the stat sheets.

But with Markkanen in the mix, teams would need to figure out a different way to gain an advantage. A trio of Jokic, Markkanen, and guard Jamal Murray would be lethal to deal with offensively as well. All three can space the floor extremely well, and it would force teams to pick their poison on which big man to focus more on. Markkanen is a very capable shooter from deep, which would give the Nuggets even more room to space the floor. But he can also take defenders off the dribble to the basket, giving them a different type of big man than they have been used to. Losing Porter Jr. would be tough, but the writing has been on the wall for him in Denver for some time. Porter Jr. has been in trade rumors for years, and it seems that the Nuggets may want to move on. Clemson is one of the biggest college football hype trains rolling into 2025, expert says The Clemson Tigers understandably have a lot of hype heading into the 2025 college football season. After the year quarterback Cade Klubnik had in 2024 (3,639 passing yards, 36 TDs), and a host of other talent returning on both sides of the ball in defensive linemen T.J. Parker and Peter Woods and receivers Antonio Williams, Bryant Wesco and TJ Moore, Clemson is as high as No. 2 in various post-spring top 25 rankings (USA TODAY Sports, ESPN). With 83 days remaining until the Tigers open the season against LSU at Memorial Stadium on Aug. 30, CBS Sports has Clemson on its list of the 12 biggest "hype trains" with the most offseason buzz rolling into 2025. Analyst Carter Bahns said of the Tigers: "Dabo Swinney is nearly seven years removed from his second national championship, but after a long stretch that saw his Clemson program slip from its pedestal, he has a behemoth of a 2025 roster that could get back to the mountaintop. Cade Klubnik might be college football's top quarterback after he improved throughout last season, and his stacked receiving corps will only help him reach the next level as a Heisman contender. Expected improvements on defense with Tom Allen taking over the unit will make the Tigers as well-rounded as anyone." Swinney brought in Allen to run the defense after heading up a Penn State unit that went 11-1 in the regular season and reached the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff in 2024. Allen will be tasked to improve a Clemson defense that, under Wes Goodwin, gave up an average of 374 yards per game (69th nationally). The Tigers went 10-4 last year and defeated SMU, 34-31, in a thrilling ACC Championship Game on a walk-off 56-yard Nolan Hauser field goal as time expired.
