A.SREENIVASA REDDY (ABU DHABI)The combined market capitalisation of all companies listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) crossed the Dh3 trillion mark once again on Thursday.Previously, the ADX market cap surpassed this milestone on February 10, 2025. At the close of trading on Thursday, the total market cap of companies listed on both the main and growth markets of ADX stood at Dh3.007 trillion. The exchange first crossed the Dh2 trillion mark in June 2022, and it took nearly three years to reach the next significant threshold in February 2025. However, after briefly staying above Dh3 trillion, the market cap retreated due to volatile conditions triggered by tariff wars and geopolitical tensions. The recent rally in the markets has now pushed the valuation past the Dh3 trillion mark once more.ADX has witnessed substantial growth in recent years, driven by a strong economy, increasing foreign investment, and a surge in initial public offerings (IPOs). In 2024 alone, 28 new securities were listed, bringing the total to 187. In the first quarter of 2025, information technology firm Alpha Data made its market debut following a successful IPO, amid growing optimism that Abu Dhabi's flagship airline, Etihad Airways, may also launch an IPO this year.In 2024, ADX ranked among the top five global exchanges by IPO proceeds, with offerings raising approximately $3.35 billion. It captured 38% of all IPO proceeds in the Middle East and 80% of those within the UAE, according to a Wam report on the year's performance.Maintaining its position as the second-largest exchange in the region, ADX also held its place among the world's top 20 stock markets. Its consistent global ranking reflects a well-regulated, investor-friendly environment.
'This milestone enhances the exchange's reputation and boosts investor confidence, paving the way for sustained growth and further capital market development in the UAE,' said Samer Mardini, Chief Investment Officer at Yorklyn Asset Management.

UAE's non-oil economy firmly in expansion mode as May PMI stands at 53.3

4 June 2025 09:32 REDDY (ABU DHABI)The UAE's non-oil private sector remained in solid expansion mode in May, with the seasonally adjusted S&P Global UAE Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) registering 53.3, slightly lower than 54.0 in April but well above the neutral 50.0 mark that separates growth from is a key economic indicator measuring business activity in the manufacturing and services sectors. A reading above 50 signals expansion, while below 50 indicates contraction.'Data continued to signal a solid improvement in the performance of the non-oil private sector economy. Demand conditions remained strong, supporting a marked increase in output, although the rate of growth trended down from its recent bullish run,' the S&P Global report reported a continued rise in new orders in May. While the pace of growth eased from the previous month, it remained robust. This upturn was attributed to favourable demand conditions, strong client relationships, new marketing strategies, and diverse product offerings.'From an overall perspective, the survey signals that the UAE economy is performing well. The survey data backs up the trend of falling inflationary pressures, as businesses saw input costs rise at their slowest rate since the end of 2023,' said David Owen, Senior Economist at S&P Global Market report said that companies increased their output and the expansion was sharp. According to survey members, higher sales often translated into greater activity, although some reported that global economic uncertainty linked to US tariffs had negatively affected levels dropped in May, as businesses scaled back purchasing due to strong stock levels and supply constraints. Employment growth, meanwhile, hit its highest level in a year, with firms citing increased workloads and rising backlogs of cost inflation eased to its slowest pace in nearly 18 months. While some firms saw higher raw material and transport costs, only 5% of respondents reported an increase from prices rose marginally, reflecting modest efforts to pass on cost increases, partially offset by discounts. Dubai PMI Dubai's PMI stood at 52.9 in May, reflecting a solid improvement in operating conditions in the non-oil private sector.'Businesses continued to receive higher levels of new orders, with the rate of growth ticking up to a four-month high,' the report said, attributing the trend to improved client confidence, marketing strategies, and competitive pricing. While overall business activity rose sharply, the pace of growth softened. Purchase stocks declined for the first time in 2025, contributing to the weakest rate of input cost inflation in 17 months.

Armenia Stock Exchange joins 'Tabadul' platform

ABU DHABI - Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) announced that the Armenia Stock Exchange (AMX) has officially gone live on the Tabadul platform, becoming the sixth market to join the region's first-of-its-kind mutual market access platform. Tabadul was launched by ADX in July 2022 as the region's first digital exchange operating on a mutual market access model. The platform creates a digital network of exchanges that allows investors to trade securities on international markets with remote access for brokerage firms partnering with the exchanges. Tabadul allows investors to access shares of companies in various sectors including banking, finance, energy and telecommunications. The first transaction via Tabadul between market participants from Armenia (Converse Bank, MetaX Investment Company) and Abu Dhabi (Al Ramz Capital)was successfully executed on 30th May. Armenian investors now have direct access to securities listed on ADX, enabling two-way trading and strengthening strategic ties between the markets. The addition of AMX follows the launch of Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) on Tabadul in February 2025 and builds on the momentum of the recently signed agreement with the Iraqi Stock Exchange (ISX), which will integrate ISX into the platform in due course. To date, nine stock exchanges have signed agreements with Tabadul, with six having gone live. On this occasion, Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, Group Chief Executive Officer of ADX, said, 'We are pleased to welcome the Armenia Stock Exchange to the Tabadul platform. This expansion reflects our commitment to fostering capital market connectivity, enhancing regional liquidity, and supporting the UAE's vision for economic diversification and sustainable development. Tabadul offers access to over 490 listed companies and a combined investor base of more than 7.6 million. In 2024, trading value on Tabadul surged to approximately USD 200 million, a 317% year-on-year increase.' Tabadul enables seamless cross-exchange trading with settlement in local currencies, eliminating the need for dual listings or custodianship. Currently, the platform connects the financial markets of Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Muscat, Astana, Kazakhstan, and now Armenia. The onboarding of AMX onto the Tabadul platform underscores ADX's ongoing efforts to deepen regional capital market integration and foster stronger financial cooperation. By enabling mutual market access, ADX is expanding investment opportunities, supporting innovation, and reinforcing Abu Dhabi's position as a dynamic and globally connected financial hub. This step reflects ADX's continued commitment to enhancing market liquidity, attracting foreign capital, and advancing the UAE's broader vision for economic diversification and sustainable development.
