ALPHARETTA, GA, March 26, 2025 (EZ Newswire) -- Artist, technologist, and entrepreneur Michael VanPatten has announced that his wildlife photography piece, Roswell Flying Crane Over the Waterfalls, has been selected for display in the upcoming Art of Georgia exhibit. The piece will be showcased at either the State Capitol or the Governor's Mansion, where it will remain on view as part of the exhibition running from January 2025 through December 2026.
VanPatten's work was chosen through the Art of Georgia contest, organized by the Georgia Council for the Arts, which highlights artwork showcasing the state's landscapes and natural beauty. His winning piece is one of 47 selected for the exhibition, following a review process that involved the governor and his staff evaluating numerous submissions.
Roswell Flying Crane Over the Waterfalls is a striking composition capturing a blue heron in mid-flight above a cascading waterfall in Roswell, Georgia. The image balances movement and serenity, with the heron's outstretched wings mirroring the graceful flow of water beneath it. The scene evokes a sense of freedom and tranquility, drawing viewers into a moment of stillness.
'It's truly an honor to have my work recognized. Having my piece selected by the governor and displayed in such a prominent setting is an unexpected and humbling achievement,' VanPatten said. 'I don't usually enter competitions, but I saw this as an opportunity to share my perspective on Georgia's beauty.'
VanPatten has spent years capturing landscapes, wildlife, and cityscapes, developing a unique eye for composition. After a career in technology, finance, and marketing, he returned to art full time, blending traditional photography with AI-driven enhancements to create images that challenge perception and engage viewers in new ways. His work explores surrealism, depth, and movement, utilizing digital tools to refine and elevate his original photographs.
VanPatten aims to continue breaking artistic barriers and invites viewers to experience his work with an immersive lens as Roswell Flying Crane Over the Waterfalls prepares for its unveiling.

Youtuber Caspar Lee shares his investing journey and tips for beginners

Caspar Lee, 31, is best known for his career as one of YouTube's early stars. Born in South Africa, he began making videos at 16 and attracted 1,000 followers in his first two years. Over the next several years, that audience grew to more than six million subscribers. After 10 years on YouTube, travelling the world, interviewing musicians and actors and building his brand, Lee then co-founded a business called – a global influencer marketing company. Lee also co-founded MVE, a talent management company representing clients such as Olympic diver Tom Daley. Advertisement 'In terms of getting into investing, that happened as I was a creator who became an entrepreneur,' Lee says. 'Other entrepreneurs then became interested in how I could potentially support them when it came to the creative part of their business. They were interested in having me as an investor.' Working with his cousin, Lee spotted an opportunity to help creators become investors and, after a major success, the pair launched Creator Ventures , which specialises in consumer internet companies. When it comes to investing for beginners, the seasoned businessman says people should start early. 'Start as early as possible because compounding is very powerful,' Lee explains. 'The earlier you invest, the more time your money has to grow. 'At the same time, you need to understand what you're investing in. There's a lot of very complicated products out there, and my advice is always to try and stick to the more simple stuff because it's going to cause less headaches. Also invest in things you can trust and that is fully verified – you're not looking for a lottery-winning investment, but something that's structured and safe to a point. Advertisement He explains that your approach to investing also can depend on your age. 'The younger you are and the more time you have, maybe the more risk you can take as it can be flattened out over time. Caspar Lee (Connor McLaren) 'Thirdly, diversifying is also really important and something I have managed to do on a personal level with my businesses. When it comes to investing, you don't put all your chips into one thing, especially if it's higher risk. It needs to be diversified so you also have that low risk alongside it.' For those starting with just £100, Lee suggests exploring beginner-friendly investing apps like Revolut, Freetrade, Trading 212 or Vanguard. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Creator Ventures (@creatorventures) If he could start over, Lee says he'd be more cautious about property investing. 'Growing up, my parents had a lot of success with property investing,' he explains. 'You hear about how they put in £50,000 into a property and 25 years later, it's worth £500,000. Whereas, now when I invested in London, it hasn't been very good and it could have been a lot simpler, less work and a better returns to just put that money into a global index fund. However it does depend on where you live, where you're doing it and the kind of property.' Lee says that investing is essential for protection against inflation and building long-term wealth. 'If you've got your money sitting somewhere, and it's not gaining interest and if you're lucky enough to have access to money sitting somewhere, you want to beat inflation, otherwise you're going to be losing money every year. Advertisement 'The other thing is, it helps build wealth, which can help with financial freedom in the future. It stops you if you have that extra money, spending on things you don't necessarily actually need,' he adds. Lee adds that 'investing is now more accessible than ever.' 'You don't need thousands to start,' he says. 'It's just such an interesting and good thing to be able to start now, and over time it compounds and you learn more. I also would like to say not investing is also a risk. Some people think so much about risks when it comes to investing. Of course there are loads of associated, but also not doing something is a risk too.'

Private jet and helicopter-filled life of fashion designer, 33, found dead on Hamptons yacht

An Irish fashion designer who was found dead on a yacht in the Hamptons lived a jet-setting life of luxury with her glamorous pals. Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra, 33, was discovered unconscious onboard a vessel named Ripple while it was docked at the Montauk Yacht Club around midnight Tuesday. Good Samaritans attempted life saving measures, but East Hampton Town Police pronounced her dead at the scene. Her manner of death remains unclear and will be determined by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's Office. Irish-born Nolan-O'Slatarra, founder of fashion label East x East, created a ritzy lifestyle for herself that's often associated with Manhattan's elite. The self-professed entrepreneur and brand growth consultant took rides on helicopters and private jets, videos posted on her TikTok account reveal. She and her pals took a Falcon jet to Nashville for a concert in 2021 with Nolan-O'Slatarra highlighting her '#milehighclub' and '#privatejet' life in the captions. Last October, she shared a video of herself and a male companion drinking bubbly as they flew over a sunny, rural looking area. She captioned the short clip: 'Heli on up.' Nolan-O'Slattara shared a TikTok clip of herself with the same man sitting in a luxurious convertible car as it drove through picturesque countryside. Pictured is one of her friends boarding the plane Privately, Nolan-O'Slattara's lifestyle was not all glitz and glamor. In an interview with the Irish Independent last year, she claimed to 'live in the Upper East Side' which she said she 'loved' even though it was 'expensive'. But property records tie her to an address in Yorkville, which is often regarded as a less desirable and more inexpensive part of the the highly sought out UES neighborhood. Nolan-O'Slatarra lived in a small studio apartment where her monthly rent was approximately $1,900, the records revealed. She grew up in the small town of Carlow, Ireland, roughly 55 miles outside of capital city Dublin. She left home at 16 after she 'forced' her parents to send her to the highly regarded Institute of Education in Dublin, a private secondary school where an education will set families back about $67,540 (€58,200). 'I was the small town girl who needed to get out to achieve her big dreams,' Nolan-O'Slatarra told the Irish Independent in an interview last year, highlighting how she was 'money driven', 'business driven' and 'always knew I wanted to be successful'. After secondary school, she attended University College Dublin where she studied the fundamentals of business as an undergraduate and later earned a master's degree in digital marketing. Once she completed her degrees, Nolan-O'Slatarra interviewed for graduate scheme positions at major companies, including Deloitte and Ernst & Young, but said she was told it would be nine months before she would be informed of a hiring decision. Although she only intended to be in the city for nine months, Nolan-O'Slatarra landed a job at fintech start-up Street Diligence, a company that worked with what she described as 'top-tier hedge funds'. She claimed the firm's CEO offered to pursue visa sponsorship after she successfully landed investment bank Jefferies as a client. She left Street Diligence after two years, bouncing around at multiple companies before launching her firm Brand Growth Consultants, which has an online presence that appears to be completely AI-generated, in 2021. She launched several companies that same year, including her direct-to-consumer Amazon brand Duper and her resort wear line East x East, her LinkedIn page reveals. East x East had a brand shoot in Mallorca, Spain in 2023. Just weeks ago, Nolan-O'Slatarra celebrated the grand opening of the brand's popup shop at Gurney's Montauk Resort and Seawater Spa. 'Goals Achieved,' she wrote on a video shared of the shack housing her bikinis and beach wear shared on TikTok on July 1 as she encouraged the public to come visit. Nolan-O'Slatarra was also appointed director of operations at K4 Capital Management, an investment management firm, in June last year. Her death remains under investigation. One boater at the scene described the ship as a 'party boat' and told Daily Mail she heard screams when the woman's body was found. Many in the wealthy enclave have now been left reeling as questions remain about what may have happened to the Manhattan resident, whom residents described to the New York Post as 'well-known in the community'. 'She was very friendly, always smiling,' the local said. 'There's going to be a lot of conversation out of this.' Indeed, another regular at the Yacht Club claimed Nolan-O'Slatarra's boyfriend owns the boat - which is registered in Long Beach, New York - and told Daily Mail that whenever she saw the boat owner he would be 'drunk and always messed up.' As Nolan-O'Slattara fell unconscious Monday night, she said, the boat owner was seen running outside naked screaming 'that's my girlfriend' as he tried to get help from other boaters. 'We come here (to Montauk) every summer and nothing like this ever happens,' the boater said. 'The police have been here all day since four in the morning.' As the investigation continued into the early hours of Wednesday, police officers were seen stopping guests at the Montauk Yacht Club - as the area was being cordoned off. But many in the upscale enclave continued their day as normal, lounging by the pool or dining at one of the Yacht Club's restaurants. They did not seem to have a care in the world, even as police officers and detectives in suits gathered on the dock. Violent crimes are unusual in the upscale Long Island beach and resort area that is known for its monstrous mansions and high-end dining. Influencers and celebrities often flock to the area, especially in the summer months. Rooms at the famed club run for about $1,500 in the summertime and around $865 during other months. Celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta even hosted an event there this past weekend that included a star studded guest list, including influencers Alix Earle and Remi Bader. Photos showed the glamourous influencers looking sun-kissed as they enjoyed cocktails and food at the yacht club. They were also seen overlooking the breathtaking marina which has now become a crime scene. There is no indication that the events hosted at the club this weekend are connected to the discovery on Tuesday morning.
