Horror moment Brit is dragged out of holiday bar and beaten by staff for refusing to pay eye-watering £460 drinks bill

The Sun17-07-2025
THIS is the horror moment a British tourist was dragged out of a holiday bar and beaten by staff after allegedly refusing to pay a staggering £460 drinks bill.
Disturbing footage from the bar in Thailand 's Chiang Mai city shows the shirtless holidaymaker being manhandled near the entrance as chaos erupts.

At least six men can be seen grabbing his arms and legs while others unleash a barrage of kicks to his body as he pleads: 'I'll pay in cash. I swear. I'll come pay in cash.'
The 26-year-old solo traveller was reportedly charged an inflated 20,000 baht - around £460 - for drinks at the Diamond Karaoke Bar on Wednesday night.
But when he refused to pay and tried to leave, bar workers chased him outside and launched into the brutal attack.
Thai cops confirmed that nine staff members have been arrested in connection with the brawl, which was caught on camera and shared widely online.
Colonel Pratchaya Thisala, from the local Black Hawk police unit, said: "The British tourist was travelling alone.
"According to the initial medical examination, he only sustained minor injuries and nothing was broken.
"There is a lot of witness testimony and evidence. The security camera footage shows that an argument started inside the bar.
He added: "The foreigner wanted to return to his accommodation first and suggested they talk again later, but the other party didn't agree. The altercation then escalated outside the bar. At the time, the foreigner was also intoxicated."
Those arrested are aged between 18 and 28, with one of them having reportedly turned himself in.
Moment Brits including woman are beaten and kicked by Turkish 'Mad Boys' bouncers in row over bill and 'insulting flag'
They now face charges of assault, operating an unlicensed entertainment venue, and selling alcohol past legal hours.
Locals said the bar had been operating for only two months under new management, after the previous owner had sold the business.
Police were known to make frequent visits to the establishment over recurring arguments between staff and patrons, often over allegedly inflated bills.
Most of the customers were tourists, usually dropped off by hired drivers or vans who were reportedly paid with commissions by the bar.
The bar has since been shut down by authorities.
It comes as another holiday bar brawl made headlines after British tourists were filmed being battered by restaurant bouncers in Turkey.
The wild scene unfolded outside the Mad Boys restaurant in Marmaris on June 2 after a row reportedly erupted over an unpaid 5,000 TL (£92) bill and alleged insults directed at the Turkish flag.
Footage shows the fight breaking out on the pavement as male staff launch a violent frenzy of punches and kicks.
Two tourists are knocked to the ground and mercilessly kicked as they lie curled up on the pavement.
In an astonishing moment, one restaurant worker even leaps out of a window to join the melee, as stunned passersby scream in horror.
A male Brit can be seen trying to fend off attackers, shadow boxing as chaos swirls around him.
Two women attempting to break up the fight are also punched and stamped on before collapsing.

South Korea's Yoon takes off prison uniform and lies on floor to resist questioning

South Korea 's jailed ex-president Yoon Suk Yeol again refused to attend questioning by investigators Friday, using a new method to resist: He took off his prison uniform and lay down on the floor at his detention room. Mr Yoon, removed from office in April over his ill-fated imposition of martial law, was sent back to prison last month as he stands a high-stakes trial over rebellion and other charges. Mr Yoon, a conservative, faces investigations into other criminal allegations that are not related to his Dec. 3 martial law decree but target him, his wife and others. On Friday, Min Joong-ki, a special counsel named by his liberal rival and new president Lee Jae Myung, sent investigators to retrieve Mr Yoon from a detention centre near Seoul after the former president twice defied requests to attend questioning. Mr Min's team is tasked with delving into allegations surrounding Yoon's wife Kim Keon Hee, including that she and her husband exerted inappropriate influence on the then-ruling party's election nomination process in 2022. Mr Min's team had a court-issued detention warrant that authorised them to bring Yoon out of his detention facility by force, but said they were hoping for his voluntary cooperation. 'Without wearing his prison uniform, the suspect lay down on the floor and strongly resisted his detention,' assistant special counsel Oh Jeong-hee told a televised briefing. Oh said her team members refrained from using physical means out of safety concerns, but notified Mr Yoon that they would execute the warrant next time. She urged Mr Yoon to cooperate as the Korean people are closely watching whether the enforcement of law is applied to everyone equally. Mr Yoon's lawyers earlier said he was unable to attend his trial and undergo questioning by investigators because of heath problems. They said in a statement Thursday that Mr Yoon has cardiovascular, autonomic nervous system and eye issues. They cited an unidentified hospital as saying that Yoon faces the risk of blindness because he failed to receive medical treatment for the past three months. Mr Yoon's imposition of martial law, which brought armed troops into Seoul streets, lasted only a few hours before lawmakers voted down his decree unanimously. Mr Yoon has argued his decree was a desperate attempt to draw public support of his fight against the 'wickedness' of Lee's Democratic Party, then the main opposition party which had obstructed his agenda, impeached top officials and slashed the government's proposed budget.
