26th Islamic Arts Festival to Unveil ‘Siraj' as Its Theme

Sharjah: The Supreme Committee of the Islamic Arts Festival has announced the theme for its 26th edition set to take place in November under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The chosen slogan, 'Siraj' (lamp), aligns with His Highness's vision of arts as a vital and universal form of civilization communication.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the announcement followed a meeting chaired by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Qasir, the Director of the Cultural Affairs Department at the Sharjah Department of Culture (SDC) and Director of the Festival, alongside committee members. Al Qasir emphasized the global reputation the festival has garnered, attributing it to the support of HH the Ruler of Sharjah, who views art as a bridge fostering dialogue between diverse cultures worldwide.
Al Qasir further elaborated on the festival's commitment to His Highness's cultural and artistic visions, which aim to highlight Islamic art as a historical and inspirational form. The festival's chosen theme, 'Siraj,' is rich in artistic symbolism, representing light, ideas, and limitless imagery. Al Qasir stressed that 'Siraj' transcends its literal meaning, serving as a gateway to exploring the depths of the human soul.
The Higher Committee is set to invite artists globally, encouraging them to conceive innovative ideas that align with the 'Siraj' theme. The festival will select works that best reflect this concept. Launched in 1998 under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the Islamic Arts Festival has consistently offered a renewed artistic vision for Islamic arts, preserving its aesthetic and historical significance.

The day concluded on a sweet note with the distribution of traditional treats to all, reinforcing the message of sharing and joy that defines Eid. The School Directors. Himanshu Verma and Ritu Verma appreciated the students' efforts and highlighted the significance of Eid as a festival of unity, compassion, and spiritual reflection. Principal Saji Jacob addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech, highlighting the essence of Eid and the importance of celebrating it with unity and gratitude.

The museum is open from 10am to 8pm, while Garden in the Sky welcomes visitors from 2pm to 10pm. Open from 9am to 9pm Saturday through Thursday, and from 4pm to 9pm on Fridays, the museum houses a permanent collection of more than 500 artworks across various media and styles. Undersecretary Yousif Mohammed Al Binkhalil Engages at WAVES Summit in India

New Delhi: Yousif Mohammed Al Binkhalil, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, took part in the inaugural World Audio-Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) held in India from May 1-4. The summit assembled artists, innovators, investors, and policymakers from around the world to explore the future and challenges in media, entertainment, and creative industries. According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Binkhalil also engaged in the Global Media Dialogue, which ran concurrently with the summit, featuring delegations from 77 countries and organizations. During his participation, Al Binkhalil highlighted the Kingdom of Bahrain's focus on the media sector, under the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He underscored the sector's role in fostering international ties through messages of tolerance and coexistence, vital for achieving prosperity and human wellbeing. Al Binkhalil reiterated the Ministry's dedication to participating in regional and international events centered on media and technology, to both showcase Bahrain's advancements and seize opportunities for skill development and innovation among youth. These efforts are aligned with Bahrain's broader sustainable development goals. He remarked that the summit provided a crucial platform for enhancing media cooperation and exchanging experiences to advance the national media system, especially amidst the rapid technological changes in the media sector and the growing influence of audiovisual and entertainment media, alongside challenges posed by artificial intelligence and digital technologies. The WAVES summit emerged as a key venue for convergence within the global media and entertainment industry, attracting over 10,000 attendees, 650 companies, and 1,000 creatives. The event addressed various facets of the industry, including film, television, radio, print media, broadcasting, news, new media, advertising, animation, visual effects, gaming and esports, AR/VR/XR technologies, and music. In addition to its expansive programme, the summit featured sessions, workshops, and seminars on crucial topics such as media globalisation, content creation and distribution's future, technological disruptions, and the evolution of electronic gaming. The event also included exhibitions, cultural performances, and a media marketplace.
